Two Decades ago, China was closed to the outside world. It was just few years ago that China opened up to the world. Now, China is attracting loads of talented expats moving into the country.
Life in China could be pretty much affordable in the smaller cities but if you find yourself in the bigger cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou... then don't expect an affordable life. Living in these above mentioned cities could cost you your whole monthly salary if you're a middle income personnel.
Quick advice; Do your research properly before you plan on moving to China.

Welcome to my hometown, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. Ganzhou City has developed very rapidly in recent years. Only those who have been to Ganzhou City can feel the charm of this city. I used to work and live in Accra for 6 years. I miss it very much. The beaches and nightlife there are very beautiful. I have also been to places like the Cape Coast city of Akrotia and Katamba. Now I am back to Shanghai to work and often think of the good times in Ghana.

If you really want to understand what China is really like through the eyes of a foreigner, I highly recommend Anna Lee's novel Chinese Dream which although a work of fiction is clearly written by someone who understands both the Western and Chinese perspectives of the country. It is incredibly well researched and not only a great read, it also covers many different aspects of living there including lots of little quirks, finding partners and the challenges faced in Chinese/Western marriage and their joys. What is also great about the book is that it is told between 2013-2023, a period when relations between the two started out pretty good and then changed.

Let's be honest people ain't mass migrating to China. And there are certain jobs you are not really able to do like IT jobs unless you have insight to Chinese tech. And there is no job market there as China is struggling to find enough jobs for their own population. You gotta go to China to do business or work with an international company that has a global footprint there or you have connections into a particular sector (who you know), otherwise I see no point going there.
@UncleJuniorOfficial
@UncleJuniorOfficial 26 күн бұрын
Well you have a point but u forgot about education. Loads of foreigners come to China for good education cuz one; education is quite affordable as compared to the western countries and two as u said, business. These two fields alone attract lots of foreigners into the country.
@rendezyt
@rendezyt 26 күн бұрын
@@UncleJuniorOfficial You can find work there but it's extremely difficult; I do know one Russian woman that has managed to eek out a good living doing acting and music there, but a sector like acting is something you need connections for like I said above. Also I do some IT; but the thing is I do some cloud IT technology (Azure/Aws) and because of the geopolitics with China and possible sanctions coming from the West* China may not have access to all the western tech stacks so I would have to learn Tencent cloud, Alibaba Cloud and Huawei cloud from scratch if I was to go to China, which are cloud technologies indigenous to China. But yes education is a reason to go there.

Because China's system of government works and is more successful than the prostituted lobbyist but off of our government and the bought off elections, courts, policies, etc, That leave the public abandoned while the public treasury is robbed blind by the lobbyist money. China's governing system takes care of its society, people, economy, industry, commerce and growth in an intelligent managed way. Unlike the corrupt criminal dishonest way the U.S. governing system operates. All you have to do is look at the two societies to see which one is working and which one is a dystopian corrupt mess of violence, drugs, crimes, hostilities, poorly educated, racist, dangerous and hate-filled populace

Even Western countries can't compare to China's infrastructures and cost of living Only thing going on for the West is higher salary and strong currency but even that is slowly eroding with inflation and US dollar slowly losing its reserve currency status.
@jimmy-iq8lh
@jimmy-iq8lh 27 күн бұрын
@@Odgin I just cant see the relevance of any of that. Its like you see these videos proclaiming cheap living somewhere- turns out they are in some isolated town , or some rural area with very little going on- I mean what is the point of that? Its not much use having lower cost of living if living there has no purpose. ps- the dollar reserve currency status is still close to as high as its ever been- that argument amounts to propaganda.
@Odgin
@Odgin 27 күн бұрын
@@jimmy-iq8lh Cost of living not relevant? Are you a child that doesn't need to pay any bills and still live under your parent's roof? If somehow you're not (which I think you are with how naively you talk), are you happy slaving your life away for barely surviving? Or are you happy working 2 jobs just to be able to put a roof over your head? Happy to live paycheck to paycheck? Maybe come talk to me when you're an actual responsible adult that got bills to pay. Speaking of propaganda, are you sure you're not ACTUALLY the victim of propaganda yourself? Because according to IMF statistics, US dollar accounts for approx. 58.41% of global currency reserves in 2023. Down from a high of 65,73% in 2015 or 84.85% in 1970. Instead of we Africans learning everything from China, we prefer to be utterly corrupt and keep running away to other countries thst have worked hard to develop themselves.... Africa is so behind in almost everything. You know I am from Zambia and when I met my Nigerian best friend, I learnt a lot from her about being business minded and flourishing at it. I did not fold my hands and look on, as Nigerians themselves will say follow who know road. Why can't huge Africa learn from the Chinese.

Africans r learning from these Eastern & Western countries & implementing as well. Problem is just few of these Africans went back & established businesses & firms which r currently thriving well. Fraction of those diaspora businesses & innovations in Africa is low but at least progress is progress no matter how slow or little.
