Always seems strange that when new chassis are designed, the new tires are yet an unknown. It's like trying to build the perfect fiddle without knowing the properties of the violin bow to be used. Was looking forward to really close competition this year, because all teams knew exactly what to expect from the tires when they designed their car.

What happens to tire debris when it’s raining and is cold? Does it also stick to the wheel?
@GlockGrippa4 жыл бұрын
Andreja Ssvab if it rains then the track will essentially be ‘washed’ of the marbles. If slick tyres were equipped, the tyres would rapidly become too wet and slippery for the debris to stick to them, and if they go on to a wet weather tyre (inter or full wet) then tyre debris is even less likely to stick due to the tread on the tyres needed for additional grip, clearing water and drying the track. It entirely depends on the track, strategy, the severity of the rain, the temperature and 101 other factors however. Essentially, cold and wet races discourage debris sticking to tyres and reduces debris on track, which is why wet weather races are so entertaining as it reduces grip causing more crashes

A Venturi tunnel isn't really complex mate. It is just a shape that leads to the air being forced upwards hence pushing the car downwards. A tire is much more difficult because of the way you need to structure it to behave as it should do

@@MercedesAMGF1 Aren't they thanks to the new naming sometimes the same? (c3 and medium)
@FilipPCGaming4 жыл бұрын
New super soft is going to be a faster tire, but it has softer rubber than medium which means that tarmac is going to kill it faster (basically it's going to wear out faster cuz it's softer okay i need to stop), and they are gone waaay before mediums...

The earliest his contribution will be felt is 2026. Hes joining Ferrari halfway through 2024 and the remainder months are not enough for him to implement different solutions. On top of that his main role will probably be in analyzing data and how different parts interact with one another just like he did at Mercedes.

I would change the reliance on tires if im honest....there is millions spent on drivers and the car itself yet one of the most important part winning championships is actually managing tires ... Id make them much more durable and less tire compounds.. I mean making them more durable will force teams to actually push cars and make drivers actually compete and not go around making laps and babysitting the dam tires... and for the less compounds, just make it 1 type for Qualy on dry... 1 Type for racing on dry, and keep the 2 types for wet, that being 1 inter and 1 full wet. i really think that would actually make it so drivers and the actual car and its power unit are at the focus on development and not the god dam tyres ... I mean if one team can actually calculate how many laps the other team has on their tyres is simply stupid..

@@MercedesAMGF1I did a simple mass calc. of the rubber compound portion with 3 mm thickness, 660 dia and 380 wide patch. I used 1.5 g/cc and the result came out to be 3.6 kg per tyre. Looking at these numbers, it looks realistic. But 3 mm as thickness seems too less for the amount of performance that generates and thus the corresponding wear. Maybe it's all down to that brilliant compound. Because I have also seen some racetyres with 4.5-5 mm thickness and obviously that racecar wasn't F1 ( which means less forces, etc on the tyre and hence lower wear per km lets say). I believe you but my observation didn't make me.
