Boracity Magazine did the research and noticed what those artists from those companies are on those creative list more than other artists so yes they have a deal going on. She does a lot of research and backs things up with checkable facts and figures. So you are not wrong it's already been proven they have deals with Spotify for their artist to be on the main creative lists. She also has the figure's on how Spotify Filters BTS streams.

As I pointed out from day one - Geffen needed to make a fast apology, that it needed to be a short and sweet apology and it had better be sincere!! Army knows fake apologies from BTS haters! I think BTS appreciates when they get on the charts, etc., but I honestly think they want fans to actually listen to their music and love it more . It’s kind of a double edged sword… they have let it be known that their massive success has made things hard on them. The pressure to always do as good or better must be hard. On the other hand the massive support is rewarding. Take JK, for example. His very first solo release is still the fastest song to get 1 billion streams, and was a Billboard all-kill. The album set many records and charted for months. It all went way beyond his expectations. I know that must have been thrilling, but at the same time I can’t imagine the pressure because that is a hard bar to exceed. (I don’t know if I am articulating my thoughts well). The fan obsession can have some negative sides such as it contributes to fan wars, makes other fandoms resent BTS and ARMY more. And as far as their solo work, the solo stans obsession can lead to a lot of jealousy, hate and rumors. I participate in buying and streaming, because I want them to get what I believe they deserve, which is the best. I know deep in my heart that while charts and awards mean a lot to them, it isn’t the most important thing to them. I don’t think that is their goal when they are making their music. I keep thinking about things they have said in songs like “Yet to Come”. “The world's expectations We ain't about it That step of being the best We ain't about it Crowns and flowers, countless trophies We ain't about it Dream and hope, and goin' forward We so about it”. So, yes, I do think that charts and awards are important to them. There are SO many examples to show that, and it is always nice to be recognized for your artistry and hard work. I just think that making music and knowing ARMY will always support them means even more.

I agree. I think they want the meaningful awards for songwriting, production, etc. But I also think they want people to listen to the music and enjoy it. I stream where I can but I can't mindlessly loop otherwise I go off a song. It's like cake, eat too much at once and you feel a bit sick! So I always mix up my playlists.

I see it as consumers trying to get their voices heard regarding “popular” music. Music popularity used to involve consumers. We could call radio DJs or MTV Total Request Live and sales were reflected in shows like AT40. I’m sure there was corruption but we had a voice. Now what is played in radio or other places is controlled by companies. BTS won’t get radio play in the US and maybe other countries so how do consumers make their voices heard except doing what they need to within the rules the companies set up. We should determine what is popular in Pop music and I 100% support the effort.

Consumers at least had some say or involvement when now it's almost exclusively companies making those decisions and when consumers break thru that somehow like a few organic tiktok hits or groups like BTS fans break thru they quickly quash that because the companies want to be in control.

And that's one of the reasons I haven't turned the radio on since.....I don't even remember. I noticed the playlisting because every evening when I drove home, the same songs would be playing each time. Looked into it, discovered what was up, and said NOPE. Not that I particularly enjoy getting my music online, because Spotify, YT, etc, refuse to count fairly and accurately. But since radio play is what BB goes by to determine chart position, I simply leave the radio off.

I have a question. Do they count for the BB, the songs played on NON PREMIUM Spotify? Or just count for the premium Spotify members play? And another question is, when i play a song for 40 times a day, it only shows/ counted for 24times. Does it mean the rest 40-24=16 plays are not counted? How come I never can ask these questions to Spotify? Anyone knows how to have conversation with Spotify by any chance? And, it's keep shuffling to another random musicians' songs. Is there anyway I can stop shuffling and only plays my favorites?

The Spotify algorithm is very weird and fishy. I listen mostly to classic, French chanson, Scandinavian folk, soundtracks, musicals, 2 American pop artists and BTS I do not listen to other K-pop but the only music I get recommended is K-pop even groups I blocked…

Same. I only listen to rock music, movie scores (orchestral music), & BTS but I'm almost exclusively recommended K-pop music most of which I have blocked I even have autoplay off but I keep getting those I have blocked anyways. It's extremely fishy especially when their are Korean artists from non-kpop acts that I liked in BTS member's songs like Wildflower's Youjeen or Smoke Sprite's Soyoon but all I get recommended is the stereotypical kpop acts (not surprisingly mostly the acts from YG & SM).

When I stream in Spotify like Jimin playlist after the list, other BTS members songs will also follow its ok because they are BTS but if other artist play, I click back again to BTS artists. I think that's how the Spotify suggestions is related to paying artists probably.

I have a question.... and I'll ask it in Patreon as well in case that is a better place to discuss it. I'm sure UMG & Geffen are being paid well to do whatever they are supposed to do. I can't fault BigHit/Hybe for this. They picked companies that are supposed to be top tier in the industry. My question is... If that doesn't include something simple such as providing the streaming links... WHAT THE HECK is their value???? Just physical distribution? Is that all? HECK... BTS could probably make an exclusive deal with Walmart, Target, or Amazon for certain releases as some other artists have done and get that plus more. As much as I dislike big box stores... It's a good strategy that has worked before.

I mean they've had deals with Walmart, Target, and Amazon that's why we are able to buy albums from those places and why we even hear BTS songs played in their stores. My random guess is they need to work with a major company approved by Billboard for any of their sales to be counted towards charts, I don't think most people are aware BB has to approve of the company used for the physical albums or Digital sales to be counted towards it's charts. If they don't used companies BB approves of none of their sales will be counted on BB charts. Also I don't think most people even know there are radio stations that aren't approved by Billboard so none of their spins count towards BB charts, these are usually smaller independent radio stations not bought out yet by huge corporations. I've seen people be a little confused about for example hearing a BTS song play on Walmart Radio thinking it's actually a radio station technically it's called that but it works more like a playlist and the spins Do Not count on US Radio or Billboard charts, their songs being played at Walmart, Target etc has to do with the deal they made to sell their albums in stores or their website.

​@@roguechevelle No. I don't mean just a deal to offer an album with them. That always happens. I mean an exculusive deal for just one of their albums where that is the only place to buy it. Others that are also global artists at their level with similar numbers have done this because they wanted to promote outside the normal industry roads. Walmart and Amazon can reach just as many people and I've seen what they've done for artists that have done a collab exclusive with them. They promote it very well with video teasers and ads online... contests... as well as in store advertising. It's not a permanent thing... It's just for one album. Some have done it with new albums, special edition albums, etc. If Geffen can't do better than they did this time... then I think a different approach (this is just one example) is worth considering. Maybe Geffen and others need to see that BTS and it's members have other avenues to international distribution.

When this purposely placed INSULT of Jimin occurred, Geffen knew immediately from Armys that this action was preceived as "racist" and a slap in the face of Jimin, by promoting a song by an upcoming white female artist featuring a more famous white female artist OVER a global superstar Korean male artist! This wasn't an accident, where this executive pushed a wrong button and committed an oops scenario. Nope, this executive carefully looked for and uploaded information to push his individual personal favored artist over Jimin. I stated then that Geffen needed to make a quick apology that needed to be short and sweet and above all sincere and genuine! What Geffen failed to understand was their insult of Jimin of BTS was not the first time Armys has had to deal with haters of BTS. Armys have 11 years of experience with haters insulting BTS!!!! the recommendations is really annoying to me on sportify because i didn´t know you could block an artist before but i do now. I listen to BTS and a few other amarican artists. i don´t listen to kpop i hate the sound of it. many are to noisy and the girls groups is to baby sounding. it sounds like children songs or a sped up version of another song. BTS to me is very diffrent from all of the groups and western music too, it´s a strange mix of both worlds and i like that. the songs have the repeated corses that can be a bit to much like jin´s astunaut because coldplay wrote it (still love the song despite that). but what BTS did with my universe was to change it just enough to make it more exciting. same thing BTS does in all their songs because they have rappers. but the amazing thing is that the song don´t change as much that it becomes a completly diffrent song like most kpop songs is. idk how they do it like that it´s really special.

This is not Big Hit Music’s role I think. Since HYBE the parent company is the one who is on contract? Not sure. Either way, I think various contracts with US companies could be better structured in favour of the Korean albums.

Why do you think any foreign artist does have a distributor in other countries? BTS has one for Japan and for the US because they need to.

HYBE Korea should be poking HYBE US and saying, 'Hey! Make Geffen cooperate with us!' Big Hit doesn't have that authority. And as we see, HYBE America doesn't exert itself much for BTS. That's not entirely their fault, since the two branches are supposed to take care of their own concerns and not meddle with the other one, but when a HYBE K-artist is dealing with American media and distribution, then yes, HYBE A should step up. Since the entire company would profit by it.

I'm in the UK and looked at HMV they are taking pre orders of Jimin's album however it's was £4 cheaper for me to pre order it from South Korea and that included free delievery. ok HMV was offering free delivery also but it was still would have cost me more. I was a bit miffed and will be sending and message to HMV about the situation and that they lost my custom I didn't bother last time it was cheaper to order direct rather than order from here but this time I will as I now have 2 examples to put into my customer compliant.

They let me know when they'll be sending it with expected delivery date but they've always arrived at least 2 weeks before they say it will. There are few stockest in SK that advertise on Amazon UK, they clearly know we want the albums. I think they send them out in batches it would cost them less that way to send them.

BTS isn't under any western label like all other kpop groups. They only use them for distribution. Another thing that the western music industry doesn't like and this also plays a role in the reluctance and delayed reactions to requests for giving links, or to restock.

They be paying more to Spotify then they receive back so it's an industry loss maker in the vain hope they'll get that Number 1 on Billboard which in turn will get them endorsements, etc which is were USA artist earn their money it's not via their music music is the path to where the real money is brand Ambassadorships, acting in a commericals. etc etc. It's not in album sales and certainly not in spotify streams.

It sounds like it ought to work, but it doesn't because 1. Spotify 'filters' their streams, which means they decide not to count a random number of them in order to keep their preferred artists at the top. (Generally, the ones who are paying the most.) And 2. YT only counts a certain number of views per person, per day, and then it stops counting. So you may view a video 18 times on YT in the course of the day, but it will only count [number?]. No one knows what this number is; YT refuses to say. My theory is that the number is different depending on how much the company channel pays and whether or not they buy in to YT ads. So another K-group, one that does the buy-in, will be allowed, say, 8 views per person, while one that does not only gets 2 or 3 views per person.

How do I watch it if I only have Weverse on my phone. I noticed their or lots of videos for BTS, TXT Enhypen, and the like on weverse that I would love to see on a larger screen. How can this be done. Yes, I am ARMY, but I do love other Asian artists and don't mind paying to view.

Have you tried downloading Weverse on a laptop or similar device? I downloaded it onto my laptop and can watch content the same as using my phone. If you have a smart TV you can connect it to your computer to see things on an even bigger screen.

It happened for Butter when it hit 900M; took 3 days to get past 901M because it kept being deleted back to 898m and 897m. And views since then have been cut from about 1M a day to a few hundred thousand a day. YT REALLY does not want that mv to hit 1B, so they've stretched it out for 4 years. Similarly, Jimin's 'Like Crazy' got stuck at 30M for almost four days, and again at 50M. When you chart the views, it looks like a flight of steps because of how often it gets frozen and deleted, instead of a / line.

Those were always solo stans - the same with any other solo of other members. It's just an excuse. If you look closer they are practical all saying the same: "My "solo" did not get this or a bad version of that: BH/HYBE/etc. hates them and abuses them!" Than they make lists that are not even necessary true. Take the one for Jimin for example: He did get a cake to celebrate going No. 1. He was on on TTH Playlist. And than solos attack each other or Army or another member. What they forget is that on their own they do not have the numbers to archieve what they celebrate as "their" victory". Not to mention they celebrate weird stuff and don't necessary understand what they celebrate. They also forget tat their "fav" does not aknowledge them and would choose label and Army over them in heartbeat. RM wanted to attract a small indie audience so he made indie music and performed for a crowd of 200 people. Stop acting like BTS don't have control over their own music. He is the reason I took the time to get to know BTS. If you actually pay attention to each member’s promotions in detail, there is a noticeable difference in the way Park Jimin is promoted and the way the 6 members are promoted. I was reserving judgement since Jin did not get a lot due to when he went in the military but when he came back his stage was fabulous. Jimin got a set up like a high school gym with homemade crafts. It was cringy. When an ARMY made a compilation of all the fanmeets all the members had, by far Jimin’s was cheap and poorly designed. The computer he was reading comments on even stopped working as if they had not pay the electric bill. There are a lot of differences if you look. Right now, compare the roll out of Jhope, RM and Jimin’s 2024 albums. Jhope and RM got lots of promotions, videos versions of records, early release of the buying links and more. Jimin got none of this. We still don’t have links to buy his album. I could go on. If you are open, do a comparison. You will see the difference.

It was the only album that did not reach the 1 million album sale that all other members did. The promo also was very short. This time he wanted that plaque. Nevermind that the British may or may not get their version without PC to count for charts. Because that stuff should already be read for shipping and fans may want the PC. Nothing is perfect. That is how life IS. BTW Jimin IS my bias and I have no wrecker. But I do not believe the hyped nonsense that solos like to spread. Trust the members. They know what they want. Sometimes that is not realistic but people will try to give them what is reasonable. Take Jin trying to hug as many Army as possible without any limits. That was not reasonable. So he negotiated with the label to something that was. You do not need to protect them from themselves or their label. They are adults and know far better than you (or the solos) what is going on. What is the label ging to do? Fire them? They'd loose everything. Which does not mean you can't get on their distributors butt for not providing what they should.

It was the company's decision to send copies of the song to radio stations, not JK's. A company sending copies of a song to radio stations is the standard thing to do in the US - it is legal and a normal part of the record business to do so. There is no money paid by the companies to the radio stations to play the song. The major radio stations in the US have a policy to only play songs provided to them by the record companies - that is why if you contacted a station and offered to provide them with a copy of "Like Crazy', they still couldn't play it, because it wasn't Hybe or Geffen who provided them with it. How many versions of a song are released is also decided by the company, not the artist. Jungkook had no control over the disparity in how the company treated his and Jimin's albums.

I was looking to see if someone would mention this. I personally believe that JK benefited greatly from payola specifically in the US and The UK with Golden. He had many appearances on American tv. His promotion lasted the longest overlapped others(the only member who’s content overlaped others promotional time) and he had pop up booths in NY and the UK for merch and the album and in SK collaborated with Godiva where again the album was available. People were given the opportunity to purchase his album without going into a store or purchasing it online.He also headed multiple listening parties on station head. The marketing and number of videos BigHit dropped for that one album was insanely overkill to what everyone else got for their solo albums. Scooter Braun was aiming for the US charts when he put Golden together. JK was literately handed everything without going through the doubts and worries and song writing Jimin, Hobi, RM and Suga went through before releasing their material. Because of that I don’t feel that album is as genuine as the others. After his first single was released and I saw the direction it was going to take I was not interested. It lacked all feeling of sincerity and originality.

As an Army, I sometimes don't understand my fandom anymore. I used to be the type of Army who was so engrossed in BTS that nothing else mattered. I want BTS to be successful, but at some point I woke up to realizing I invested more into them than I did my own self. You have to ask yourself, what does BTS provide to you as a person, that helps you in the same way you help them. I mean no member of BTS is doing anything that helps you with your career, education, relationship, etc...again I am an Army but I started to put this relationship into context...what have I as an Army gotten for my investment into BTS? What I mean is this, if I'm facing unemployment, does RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin,, Jin, Jungkook or Taehyung personally come out and lobby and rally for all employers worldwide to hire me above someone else, etc...sure I want them to be successful, but again I started asking 5 years ago...what am I getting out of this transactional relationship...just wanted to put that out there, because I guess by saying this to other Army's, maybe they will be able to see why our fandom is so disliked...which makes BTS disliked by others, when Army do these types of things in support of BTS. That again is all I want to say.

i understand your sentiment and i think it is good that you dont mindlessly give your time away but if i were to ask that question to myself i think my answer would be hope. i have loved many great artists and enjoyed their art and lyricism but somehow bangtan seems different . idk if i can articulate it well but their music takes me on a journey that i have never been on . i have cried more in the last 9 months since i became an ARMY than i have in my entire lifetime. something about their art broke down the floodgate that i had tried to keep on for years . by allowing me to breakdown like this they are helping me rebuild myself and ask for help that i should have gotten a long time ago. i have heard similar stories from people all around the world and of all ages that bangtan helped them in their darkest times , may it be their songs , their videos , the characters they made , anything. so i guess in some way ARMY feels indebted to them . if you think you invested more into them than yourself then im glad you were able to recognise that because bangtan would always want you to invest in yourself first . that has been their motto their whole career. there is a very fineline between being a fan and enjoying being a fan vs throwing your whole life away for a celebrity and obsessing over them. i would like to argue that a majority of ARMY benefitted in some way from being an ARMY , maybe they learned important life lessons , maybe they found the motivation to live on, maybe they found their passion again, anything. online spaces have a tendency to lack nuance sometimes or maybe they are designed that way idk and we cant blame it entirely on online fandoms either but i wholeheartedly believe that irl ARMYs would tell you so many beautiful stories of their experience with bangtan. if you think you are not getting enough out of this relationship then its time to take a step back and ask yourself what is it that you want? is the art they produce not enough? is the comfort they provide through their videos not enough? is the sense of home they give you not enough? and if you come to an answer of no then maybe reevaluate your idea of a fan artist relationship . ofcourse i also have so many things that i dont agree with that other ARMYs do but i guess thats for the best cause millions of people having the same opinion on everything is scary and in all honesty quite cult like . They suddenly popped up in my recommendation list. It was the Boy with Luv video. The thumbnail was Taehyung in his bright blue hair. I mindlessly clicked that video. I was suprised it has the 90s sound! I got curious about them and clicked more songs from BTS only to find myself bawling while listening to the song "Epiphany". I realized I didn't love myself at all. They made me realize how important it is to love yourself. Their songs became my comfort and their variety/reality shows my stress reliever. If you're facing unemployment, don't blame it on BTS. That's being a coward. You're making them an excuse to your ineptude to compete in the real world. I think you're just lost. Listen to their Love Yourself Trilogy again. Cause the main reason why they released that, is not because they want you to be obsessed with them. But because they want you to love yourself. Also, no ARMY's are obliged to support BTS. You don't need to buy any of their albums, their merch, their concert ticket, you don't even need to vote or stream their songs. You can even just listen to their music from unofficial channels. There's nothing wrong with that. Being an ARMY is not a job, it's just a life you choose. To some Army's, BTS has given them a reason to live, a reason for laughter, and a source of warmth & comfort. A place they can call home. So to them supporting BTS is just a given, they don't necessarily even desire them, or want them to become more successful , they're just simply paying back what they owe. Which is one of the most important cultural values in my country, which is called "Debt of Gratitude" Also, what more exactly do you want from BTS?
