I'm 62 and have heart disease. I had a triple bypass 8 years ago. Changed my life around. No booze, cigarettes and minimal (if not zero) processed junk food. Only eat about 5% of animal products. Exercise was walking but added strength training 4 years ago where I discovered kettlebells. Kettlebells are the way to go if you are an older dude training for your heart health while wanting to lose fat and gain some physical definition. You can get a great workout at home and save gym fees and you only need about 2-3 bells. Most people suggest 16kg, 24kg, 32kg but I found that if you are new or general unfit and a bit on the weak side, stepping down one notch to 12kg, 16kg, 24kg works better. Or maybe even drop the 24kg and get 2x12kg and a 16kg. That would give you more options to do double kettlebell work like the brilliant and simple "Armour Building Complex" workout were you do 2x double cleans, 1x double shoulder press, 3x double front squat on the minute. But even just one 12kg bell will give you a great workout as there are loads of exercise options even for one bell. But if you can only afford one bell, get a 12kg or the very most a 16kg. Your workouts especially your presses will be limited with a 24kg if your new to training. Kettlebells are also the best way to train for "complexes" and "tabata" style workouts or metabolic workouts that Fit Father uses. Also, I have added a Kettlebell King Competition Kettlebell from 12-32kg and its a very high quality and versatile Kettlebell that replaces about 15 Kettlebells and is more than I'd ever need. I can take this outdoors too and train in the open air in the park or beach. On the downside, if you want to get the full benefit of Kettlebell training, some of the moves like cleans, swings, turkish get ups and snatches which are essential, will take learning and maybe even coached. I taught myself mostly through utube and I'm very competent. But instead of being a downside, I found it an exciting challenge in itself and a joyful accomplishment. Just one final important detail if one is going down the Kettlebell route....buy a good one and not a cheapie in the local Walmart store. The handles need to be smooth and the bells needs to sit right in your forearm. Kettlebell Kings, Rouge, and a few other companies do great Kettlebells. The handles are smooth and won't tear your hands up. Also I started out with cast iron style bells but swopped over to Competition bells. The handle are smoother for longer endurance work and they are the same size no matter what the bell weight is. When you go up in size (24kg +) on cast iron bells, the handles get bigger and the grip might be an issue if you have small hands. Also the bell size stays the same on competion and will always rest on you forearm in the same comfortable position, whereas some cast iron bells don't sit right on my forearm in the rack position as they come in different shapes and sizes. Hope this helps people who are delving into kettlebells. I also have resistance bands for isolation work on the side, but you can use bands too effectively for metabolic type training instead of kettlebells and are easy to take and train anywhere.

Kettlebells have become a pretty much everyday thing. I love the changes they've made in me.

I’m watching my body transform rather quickly working out with kettlebells. I started at 20 lbs, when that became too easy I went to 30. I really see a change in my physique. I wish I would’ve been doing kettlebells all along and left all this other gym equipment alone. It is a complete full body workout!♥️( can’t leave my DB method my fitness row machine behind though) they’re great cardio workouts!

Supplementing normal gym lifting with KB at home would be ideal, as you just cant replace heavy weight load with anything else, they work specific stuff in your body that couldnt be pushed the same. Although if you're like me with +20min commute to gym(so just 40min-1h just to go there back/forth....) , then buying 1-3 KB at home is way better choice if you can consistently keep to them. My conclusion is the same as yours tho, i wish i started them earlier instead of thinking them of a gimmick, its such amazing conditioning tool, my everyday life is a breeze now compared to no KB.

1. Using kettlebells requires proper knowledge of how to use them or it's totally useless. 2. Kettlebells are more expensive than dumbbells. 3. HIIT is more effective than kettlebells

Umm you know if you use kettlebells right they become hiiit
@Hjj.sjsjzksk23 күн бұрын
id say HIIT is just as effective as kettlebell workouts or even less, bc zone 2 can be more healthy for you than HIIT, plus hypertrophy gains from kettlebells

you can do that in many different ways you don't just have to use kettlebells

Total quack! He claimed 9 months ago that dumbbells are the best to use. He often switches back and forth from dumbbells to kettkebells
