If you’re even remotely familiar with the brand Lululemon, you probably know two things about their leggings:
They’re very popular! And they’re very expensive.
As someone who has also started an apparel brand, we've spent a lot of time studying other successful companies. And while we promise our running sunglasses will never cost more than Lululemon’s leggings, we were curious to find out why they’re so expensive.

This video is BS, yeah $5 MIGHT be the cost to manufacture the physical product, there are marketing costs, import and export costs, corp costs, store costs, influencer costs. You're missing a lot of crucial info here

Every niche market has to have a status brand. Lulu is the status brand. It may not be the gold standard. There’s other brands that sell athletic clothing that is nearly the same quality, color and performance fabrics. With Lulu there’s an it factor some women want. These women are generally on the front row of a fitness class so everyone can see the upside down U logo on their waistbands.

Very interesting insight about the logo position of leggings. 😃😃Now in 2022, lululemon replaces its logo to lower leg in certain items.

All I can say is I have had a pair since 2011 and it is still in tip top shape. If you care and wash for them properly, they LAST.

lululemon is comfort quality. Yes target is nice. but in america you really get what you pay for. and thats for everything.

lululemon's profit margin is around 11.4%, I don't know how you got that crazy markup number from. The 1800%. From an investor's point of view I wish the markup was that high.

I really believe that lulu quality can be achieved by less expensive means. Gym shark is almost as great, but half the price.

Barely half the price. I spend the same at gymshark that I spent at lulu.

Gymshark isn't comparable, I tried their leggings and it kept slipping down and I had to pull it up. Their other stuff (joggers, tops) doesn't feel as nice either, sports bra was ok. I think there's a lot of brands that will still work/look fine if you wear it as athleisure or workouts, but it won't look as fitted or feel as nice

They aren’t necessarily worth the high cost. What they do, however, is prove you’re invested in fitness. Even to yourself - I bought myself a Lululemon outfit and a year later I ran my first 5k. Coincidence? Maybe. But you can’t fake that *feeling* you get when you put on your LLMs. Also, they were front runners for the athlesure movement, and their innovation has changed the female fitness market forever.

I love Lulu leggings and I wear them too. They never judge you and you can wear whatever product and gender you identify with in their stores.
