Hindi ko makakalimutan yung long firearm issue ko noong nasa PNP service pa ako, M14 Winchester at napaka accurate kahit mas matanda pa kesa sa akin, bago in-issue sa akin nag under go pa ako ng familiarization sa M14 at talagang masasabi ko napaka gandang rifle na yan, kung ma master mo ang function ng sight nya which is adjustable kahit 500-700 yrds makakatam ka sa mass target.

I fired my friemd's M-1. Boy, it was heavy, so was the M-14. We did not have M-14 in 1959 but the M-1 handled light back then. If you are a 19-20 year old on rigid program everything seems easy. When you are 83 even a back scratcher IS HEAVY!

M14 was created during the coldwar to match the russians on the grassland of europe with its precision but it was not very effective in the jungle during the vietnam war so they created M16 and M14 has almost came to phase out but the US Military reallly loves it. I think that's their rifle during ceremonies and also snipers modify and use it.

I disagree. Most troops in the US army find that the M14 is a terrible rifle and attempts to modernize it with the M21 and EBR program have failed. its bulky, heavy and outdated and the US military stopped using it for combat during the early 2000s and snipers use weapons like the KAC SR25 (M110 SASS), M24, M200 Intervention, M82 Barret (M107) and the M40A6 which are superior weapon systems to the M14 in weight, ergonomics, and overall effectiveness. The m14 usually only gets used as a ceremonial rifle nowadays but its still outshined by the M1 garand and the M1A which gets more love from ceremonial guard units.

Comparing 308 to 7.62x39R. Is not an good comparison best comparison is 308 7.62x54R the 3 most prominent 30cal. Also in 556 have better ballistic coefficient than 308 also less recoil, better accuracy and lessen the shooters fatigue. Also the R in 7.62x39R and 7.62x54R is not R for Russian it’s stands for Rim.

Probably because we are not urbanized yet. Also, while we are mountainous and has a lot of forests, we still have rural areas. You don't have much crap that really covers you aside from rice fields, houses and maybe some fences, so they'll work just as fine as they were designed/intended to.

Ang M16 naman ay lighter kahit dalhin mo maraming bala; at saka ang karamihan naman na actual distance sa labanan ayun sa research ay 100 to 200 yards so pwedeng pwede na ang 5.56 na high velocity pa. iyung ngalang daw kahit dahon daw na matigas ng 5.56 slug ay enough na manglihis ang direction ng balang 5.56 samantalang ang 7.62 ay tagusan parin. kaso pag tumama ang 5.56 sa laman ng tao ay mag wala sa loob ng katawan at ang 7.62 slug ay tagusan diretso.
