I've used the osmolator, it's an amazing unit. My current unit is the awc. Been using it for over a year now and the ease of use coupled with the auto water change is in my opinion is awesome. I change 1.5 gallons a day, so it makes my maintenance less over all. Once a week I top off my rodi, and salt water reservoirs, and dump the old water.

@@TheCheesewalrus Agreed - When the ATK is connected to the APEX and the controller fails - your dosing and ATK also fail. You can run the ATK in standalone mode but I feel that's like buying a nice car and throttling it. I use a Osmolator and tell the APEX to leave it on and let it do its thing.

Is the tunze nano as reliable as the regular tunze? Iknow oyu said it works differently! Would it be enough for 1 36 gallon bowfront with about a0 gallon sump? I do get a lot of evaporation living in florida! I have always topped of myself but cant keep skimmer running all the time! Its wacky! I have a esopps but some reason I have a hard time! I think i heard you say once that skimmers stop skimming if you put hands in water so is that true because that could be why! I dont have all corals mounted and always seem to be getting new ones so thats why i havnt mounted them all yet and my snaill, fish ect keep knocking them over!

Ive been using the AutoAqua Smart ATO now on my 400 gallon for a year and just love it. After the first full water change and a few auto top offs it learns the correct amount of time it should run for each and if it goes over that by a certain amount then it automatically stops and sends out an audible alert. It can be paired with their plug adapters to run larger pumps or a solenoid to connect to an RO system. Mine is connected to 20 gallon bucket of RO and a 40 gallon brute can on wheels that is full of new salt water that is changes into the system at 5 gallons nightly. I'm still on the original pumps it came with and love the system it has saved me sooooo much time in my tank upkeep.

The max head height for the Osmolator pump is listed at 7.2 ft. Ryan said that can be adjusted though? What’s the actual max? I want to have my ATO res in the basement right below the tank. From basement floor to tank top would be maybe 12 ft.

Are you saying the size of your reservoir is a redundancy feature? I only have room for 2 1/2 gallon container for my 20 gallon ato so am I ok not adding another redundancy? My 36 gallon I plan on a 5 gallon container. I am racking my brain on figuring out what to use as a redundancy because I cant afford a tunze 355 and the nano dosnt have good reviews. Does the nano have the exact same features as a big boy 355? I was thinking of a float valve for my 36 but my sump is only 10 t o15 gallons and my skimmer and filter sock take up so much room that I dont know if I can fit one. What is another backup thats easy to install and small inexpensive or do I need it with the small containers as my reservoir?

I got a issue not with my ATO but with the ph levels using my ATO.. OK I don't have a fancy ATO but it puts water in my tank so I'm OK with that but I add buffer to my 5Gal bucket it's 8.0 -8.3 area but when I check my tank ph it stays around 7.6....2 weeks ago I stopped using the Ato just add RO from my 5Gal bucket to talk as needed with a bowl and PH is perfect at all times.. Any answers?
@BRStv2 жыл бұрын
pH can be impacted based on a whole host of things, but in our homes, CO2 usually has the biggest impact. So any changes in how often you're home, how many people are in the house, if your windows are open, etc can all affect pH. The type of alkalinity supplement that you're using can also impact pH. For example, if you're using Soda Ash, you'll get a pH boost. If you're using sodium bicarbonate, your pH will remain largely unchanged.

Using the Hydrofill controller and matching pump and has been working flawlessly for awhile now. I do wipe off the titanium probes here and there. I am curious about the Tunze now. Can we get a best of dosing pumps please? Including most accurate and best stand alone wifi versions please? I have scoured the internet and KZbin and there truly is not a heck of a lot of information out there. As far as stand-alone units I was thinking maybe a ghl or a Kamoer x4 but a little insight would be nice before spending the premium dollar for a doser. Is one brand better than the other? Does one Skimp on quality versus the other?

For a doser look at the Dosetronic from Focustronic its 5 heads totally stand alone but can connect to the Alkatronic and auto adjust dosing based off alkalinity test results and they say it will be able to connect to the new Mastertronic when it comes out and that measures your Nitrate, phosphate, cal, mag, and something else which they haven't yet released the details on.

I can report my Smart ATO Micro finally failed after more than three years of 100% perfect operation across three different tanks (two fresh, one salt) and one house move. I’m happy to say that even though it appeared water somehow got into the optical sensor and made it go haywire with beeping and flashing lights, it did not cause the pump to fail in the on position - it died a dignified death without flooding my tank, which is more than a lot of people can say about their much more expensive ATOs. So yeah, I trust the Smart ATO Micro and AutoAqua. Good product at a fair price.

It's not just that. The build quality and design is utter trash. The magnet fell apart on my Neptune ATO within 2 weeks of owning it. Came unglued because of exposure to salt water lol. The high water sensor failed closed within 2 months. The way the float valve is set up, it doesn't fit in a lot of returns because it's way too big. It also leaks :) The pump decides to fail once in a while for no real reason, have to unplug and plug back in. If you have an Apex, like I do, you'll find this level of quality is pretty consistent across their product line. I'll probably get a Tunze this year or early next.

People are coming unglued here because it doesn't interface with a Neptune? People - listen to yourselves. You are in too deep. Unless you're going to be away from home for extended periods of time - actually interract with your tank. In person. Standing before your tank. Not behind a smart phone or PC. Add water to the sump as needed. By hand. It's not too hard... you just pour it in. You'll save money and you'll become more intimate with your system and it's community of inhabitants. This high-end gear hustle by all these channels is getting old

N8NK QRP I wouldn’t trust any of these ato’s. If you already have an apex you can piece together a much more redundant ato for $90. That’s a cheap price to avoid having to pour in water 365x a year.
@ShadowTheNinjaKitty5 жыл бұрын
It’s not so easy with nano and pico setups. Adding too much water is way too easy, and water evaporates very fast. It’s easy to say that you can just add water manually in larger setups, but it’s 100% advantageous to have an ATO on small setups. I have one on my 5 gallon for example
@BRStv5 жыл бұрын
I 100% understand where you're coming from. I've never been more in tune with a tank than when I was topping it off daily. That said, with vacations, smaller water volumes, and hectic schedules, sometimes an ATO is best for the tank's long term stability.
