I just have different kinds rocks, sand, driftwood, a plastic piece or two and completely planted. I run an over the back filter, and I have shrimplets and a growing colony. Watching a female let some babies go right now lol. Oh and I have 7 Cory catfish and 4 neon Tetra in the tank. Some have died the last couple weeks but they were old so I’m not really worried given how happy both my amano and cherries are the parameters can’t be that off.

As in some neon tetra have died ^. I’m sure I suffer shrimp losses but I started with 10 and haven’t had a problem getting the colony to grow whatsoever. But my 2 adult neons both passed within the last 2 weeks 😭

Question about the calcium: There is liquid calcium , I was told you can soak pellets in liquid calcium and feed to shrimp. Is that too high of concentration? Also, can I add liquid calcium to water column? Any thoughts.. 😁
@FishKeepingAnswers Жыл бұрын
Hi. I’ve never tried liquid calcium. If it were me I would use a proper shrimp or crab supplement such as Winder Shell or Hermit Crab Mineral Blocks. Hope that helps 🤞🏻

Can I put panda Corydoras on my red cherry shrimp tub??? Is a sponge filter mandatory for a shrimp tank/tub?
@FishKeepingAnswers2 жыл бұрын
Panda Corydoras work well with Red Cherry Shrimp. Yes, they will no doubt eat SOME of the shrimp babies, but I keep RCS in one of my 155g planted tanks with Corydoras and a boat load of Tetras, and the shrimp population is booming. Whilst a sponge filter is not mandatory, it is the safest form of filter with shrimp as it won’t suck up and kill the shrimp like a canister filter or hang-on-back might.

@@FishKeepingAnswers I am a new shrimp hobbyist and I would love to learn on how to properly take care of my shrimp. I have about 6 Rcs on my 10 gallon tub. It was supposed to be for my thesis which is Daphnia magna but i got those RCS as freebies and I decided to take care of them. I have two planted tubs, which gives a total of 54L... I put some java moss but i have no filters at all, I just do a 25-30% water change once in a while sir. Is that fine???
@randoggie52572 жыл бұрын
@@FishKeepingAnswers The Daphnia and shrimp seem to coexist very well.
@FishKeepingAnswers2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good set up to me. Not having a filter is fine providing you carry out the water changes. Adding an air stone connected to a small air pump will increase surface movement and water circulation creating a healthier tank all round. Daphnia don’t pose any threat to the shrimp. In fact it could be argued they help create a balanced eco system. A lot of my shrimp breeding tanks have both Daphnia and detritus worms, which I hate, but they all add to a healthy, balanced tank.
@randoggie52572 жыл бұрын
@@FishKeepingAnswers I just love that they coexist in a way that makes my mini ecosystem balanced. Whenever I use spirulina powder to feed my Daphnia, the undissolved particles settle on the bottom on the tub for my shrimp to feed on and whenever I feed blanched carrots for my shrimp, the tiny unfinished particles are consumed by the Daphnia. It's also a sight to see whenever I see them foraging at the bottom of my tub. 😊

Watching your video and was hoping to learn how frequently baby shrimp molt. Your video just says "they molt frequently" and you give an estimate? Ty
@FishKeepingAnswers10 ай бұрын
They start off molting weekly, but quickly slow down to every 10 days. The gap between molts increases slowly until, as adults, they molt monthly or less frequently 👍🏻

How much should i feed in a nano tank ?
@FishKeepingAnswers Жыл бұрын
I would feed a pinch, then see how quickly they eat it. If it all goes quickly, feed a little more next time. If they don’t eat, feed less next time 👍🏻

How can I get rid of snails that came with plants I bought from a fish store?
@FishKeepingAnswers Жыл бұрын
Personally, I welcome snails as they help build up a complete ecosystem. However, if you did want to get rid of them you could try adding Clown Loach or Dwarf Chain Loach, you could also try adding some assassin snails. Finally, you could try a snail trap. They are easy to make and work surprisingly well. Good luck 🤞🏻

My friend told me that shrimp can be aggressive to fish once they getting in group. Not sure that’s true or not. But sometime, I see my guppies fin get chewed up. And I wondering are there’s a fight between the fish or because of shrimp while they are resting😮💨

Hey. I’ve never seen any aggression from my shrimp toward any of my fish. I would also doubt they have the ability to physically bite through a guppies fins. With that said, this hobby is constantly surprising me 🤷🏻♂️
