WHY are people not using these drivers? | Mizuno ST 230 Drivers Review

Can we respectfully suggest that any ‘comparisons’ need to happen on the same day, same swing, conditions. We can have a tour pro in 2 different days and get different results with excatly the same club. Also the narrative needs updating. Every contracted Mizuno Pro now has the driver in play - including Keith Mitchell who was T4th on PGA Tour this week. Marco Penge - longest player on Challenge Tour. Luke Donald - driving it fbetter and further now than at his peak. Better to call this a ‘1st impression’? Love to see a proper comparison.

I have played Ping and Taylor Made drivers since the Taylor made bubble shaft and the Ping G15. I was fitted this summer for a Mizuno driver and it is the best performing driver I have ever played. And it’s in my bag along with a Mizuno 3 fairway wood.

I am Mizuno ambassador, but before, I've been playing Taylormade since 2008 until end of last year. That being said, I can guarantee 100% that Mizuno drivers are as good as anything out there. YES maybe there is one driver that you can increase 5 yds at the most, but DONT FORGET that NOTHING NOTHING BEATS STRIKE! At the end of the day, I play the Mizuno STZ220 and cant wait to play the STZ230 with Ventus TR blue Velcor and I hit it long and love the feel and sound!!!!!!!!! TRUST ME! GO TRY THEM!!!!!!! I am +1 handicap by the way.

Sophie, you seem to be misunderstanding Mizuno's design/performance parameters. The Z is not designed as a low-spin driver. Mizuno are not designing around spin differentiation they are designing around flight axis differentiation, that's why they use Z & X to denote the Z or X flight axis. If you listen to Chris Voshall of Mizuno describe the differences between the Z & X versions, the Z is their straight flight version and the X is for players who want to curve their drives (right to left and left to right). There is a reason there are so many drivers. I have tested all the highly marketed drivers and some were good and some were horrible for me. Out of all the drivers tested the 2 that performed best were Callaway big bertha B21 & Mizuno 230 STX. These 2 were not even something I initially considered. I currently play a Hogan GS53 max - an outstanding driver that nobody ever heard of. So this reveiw is based on her opinion, honest and straight forward. The ping and stealth have had spectacular reviews and I wouldn't game them for free. Keep providing more content, it's excellent, but we all need to do our own testing.

I’m gaming the STX 220 and had the previous version as well. I find it to be an excellent fairway finder and when I strike it well it’s as long as anything else that I have owned previously including Callaway and TM. I can’t wait to hit the 230’s and see how they have combined the Technology of the last few years.

Recently bought an stz driver and am a huge fan. I have hit this driver much more consistently distance and direction wise than I did with my previous Titleist driver. They are priced competitively as well, which helps.

I bought the st-z 220 driver last year. My swing speed is around 105. I hit everything except the stealth and had the best results from the Mizuno. I do feel a little bias since I do use the jpx919 pro irons.

All the testers on KZbin that I follow and respect have given these drivers high marks. They also cost less than the more highly marketed competitors C, TM, T and P, US $500 vs $600. Very much enjoy watching your demos since your stats are closer to mine at age 81 than the scratch male players on other channels, numbers just that much better so I can aspire to reach them as goals for myself by continuing to work on improving my swing mechanics. Since shafts are also extremely important, could you please let us know which shaft, weight and flex was in these drivers. It would be great if you would let viewers know what shaft you are using in any clubs you test.

For some reason, in Australia, Mizuno Drivers are priced high. Callaway Paradym RRP £599, AU$1069 (1.78x), Mizuno ST 230 RRP £500, AU$999 (2.00x !). Exchange rate is 1.75x. Last year, Mizuno did the same thing with the ST 220 RRP AU$999 when the Callaway Rogue ST RRP was AU$929 (!).

I have an St-X driver (2021) which was $100 cheaper than the Callaway, Ping, Taylormade. When I hit it flush, it goes-- I am curious as to how the new STX does on not flush spikes.

Just bought an ST-Z 220 this past week. $299 with a decent amount of custom shaft options still available is an absolute steal. Can't imagine the 230 is worth an extra $200 at the moment.

Did you try hitting the STZ with a stronger loft or even teeing it down slightly? My swing speed is lower than yours and I play my 3 year old Callaway at 8 or 9 degrees depending on wind. Anxious to give these a try.

Mizuno don’t throw money at big pro contracts, preferring to sponsor developing talent. People can be swayed by what Rory, tiger, Nelly, Rahm, Kang are playing. They are a bit like Cleveland for that. Retail they are at £449 but you can pick up last years brand new for £249.

I think mizuno are missing a trick…instead of trying to go against the more marketed competitors they should go in quite a bit cheaper…there is no way or very little chance as golfers will try a mizuno against the ping…especially at the same price…no chance!!! If they undercut them to around £325 to £375 then this is when the person looking for a ping at £450 suddenly thinks hang on the mizuno is £100 cheaper….also to remember if selling a mizuno driver second hand they don’t hold their value to a ping…so this is another factor to add..

The X looks better to me. That is the one I would go with and reduce loft to cut spin rather than change heads. X is a driver anyone can play.

Mizuno drivers use to be cheaper right around what a Cobra driver was , so Mizuno just out priced their driver IMO, then again I would never pay the price for the Callaway either . LOL I will stick with my F9 and with price coming down just picked up a Radspeed to try out .

I've never played a Mizuno driver. I did over 25 years ago play Mizuno irons. Not really sure as to why that is Sophie. Just always seen Mizuno as a irons manufacturer and not one for the drivers, fairway woods, etc.

The ST-Z is for golfers with higher swing speeds and who swing the club correctly.....the X caters to choppers.

From everything I have seen the X is the lower spinning and not designed for draw bias . This X club is being given a bad name by immediately calling it a high handicap club. Quite the opposite .This nonsence with testers making unfounded assumptions needs to stop 🤷🏼‍♂️👨🏻‍🦳⛳️🏌🏼‍♂️🙈😊

Mizuno make good woods, just probably not the category leaders in distance, forgiveness. I had the JPX EZ from 2013 and it did the job. On the plus side they should be applauded for fitting more controllable 45 inch shafts.

Dismissing without trying is a mistake. My St-Z 220 is very forging. Fairway finder. Get the right shaft and within 10yrds of anything out there in my opinion.
