I think this is such a funny debate. I think Tua and Mike know our O line is sub par and Tua isn’t Hurts with his mobility. What does that equal? Get the ball out in less than 3 seconds. If you want to be healthy. Hard to go through all the progressions in 3 seconds or less

For someone who constantly reminds us of how much you support Tua, most of your videos have always been subtle ways of criticizing him. I think we realize he'll never meet your high expectations, he won't be the next Mahones, Rodgers or Josh Allen, we understand that. But as they say you dance with the one you bring to the dance. His real fans don't care about his shortcomings. How about a video of the things he excels in. "There's life and death in the tongue, speak life."

Sounds like you’re looking for confirmation bias! I enjoy Barry videos because he makes the viewer think and covers topics that most pro dolphin fan wouldn’t even touch. There has been an ongoing narrative about Tua being a one read QB or spot throwing, now we have his QB coach, addressing the actual question. I don’t even understand why this bothers you, considering it was a question asked by a reporter or the topic being discussed by another teams defensive player. I know the officiating was bad during the game vs the Eagles but I also watched how one QB was able to extend plays to buy his receivers time, while another was not. Keep doing your thing Barry.

Call him whatever you want, he leads the NFL in almost every category, and last week if there isn't a holding call and Tyreek doesn't drop a td, Tua has almost 300 yards and 3 tds, Waddle ran the wrong route on the Slay pick too, but even if you want to put that on Tua, just look at the other 2 plays that he made but wasn't finished by the other guys on the team. As the competition gets tougher, it's gonna be harder to make plays but I don't think Tua's been a problem at all, his worst game imo was the Giants game where he looked off and wasn't mechanically sound.

@barrycunninghamshow Hey Barry, so I'm responding to you, this is all respect and my opinion on the situation, so don't take anything like an attack on you, cause that's not my intent. What problem exactly? You made a video on teams figuring out the presnap motion offense and being able to take away Tua's 1st read, it's not rocket science to know the more tape you have on a team, the better they're going to adjust to tendencies and react to motion or whatever an offense is doing well. Let's also break down the 1st read theory, so every time a qb drops back, he has a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, read right? Ok, so if the 1st read is open more times than not, the qb is gonna throw it to the 1st read, correct? Tua has Tyreek Hill and Waddle as his 1st reads more times than not. That helps Tua, obviously. Now, to progress thru your reads, what needs to happen? You need the oline to block and the pass catchers to get open, right? So if a team is successful in taking that 1st read away, which some teams have been, the oline needs to hold up their end of the bargain, and they have for most of the year besides the Bills and Eagles most notably. Lastly, let's go back to last year when Tua got injured and was criticized for holding the ball too long, so what does the team focus on in the off-season? Get the ball out quick right? So far, he's leading the league in fastest release time. People can call Tua whatever they want if it makes them feel better, but he's leading the #1 offense, and leading a 5-2 team that's 1st in their division while also at the top of the league in many statistical categories while still getting rid of the ball quicker than any other qb. Yes, he has playmakers around him, no question, and if that's a knock on him somehow then ok, whatever makes you feel better, all I know is Tua hasn't been the reason we've lost the 2 games we did and he's playing at a very high level. If you or anybody can't see that, then I'm not sure what else to say. Nobody is comparing him to Mahomes, and he isn't the guy that's gonna run around and buy time for 6 seconds then throw a 50 yard pass downfield, but I'm perfectly comfortable with Tua as our qb. My main concern is his injury history, and the fact he's getting rid of the ball quick and still doing what he's doing is a win win for the Dolphins.

Most of the time the first read is open, so he throws the ball. A QB needs time to go through his progressions and if you don't have time because the line is buckling with guys like Eichenberg and Cotton, then of course the second read is going to look bad. Both those games had weak line play for various reasons. Take away any elite QB's time and it will affect the play the second and third read.
@kurtzellner3104
@kurtzellner3104 11 ай бұрын
Barry love ya man but every qb has reads 1-5 depending on play call. Mike's play calls usually allow first reads to be open and the players we have like tyreek as a #1 option are usually going to win so tua doesn't have to go to his second and third read as often. It doesn't mean he is not capable. Every play design has a 1st read to hit. If it's a great player and play caller # 1 will be available more than not.

Barry just a couple of weeks ago you did a video saying the o-line looked good because Tua was getting the ball out quickly, Meaning that looks could be deceiving. So when Miami plays teams with a great pass rush, you say Tua is a 1 read qb? Any qb can't go through their progressions with out time to throw. If Tua had philly's o-line, do you think he cane go through his progressions? Because of a questionable o-line, Miami's quick passing game is designed to protect Tua. Philly knew that if they can take that 1st option away that their pass rush can get to Tua. Through out Tua's football career, the film shows Tua going through his progressions. So why echo the BS on Tua's abilities.

@barrycunninghamshow And there's a lot more videos out there showing Tua going through his progressions. If the first read is open, qbs are told to take it. That's why it's called the 1st read. What is Tua supposed to do, don't throw to his first read so that people don't think that he's a 1 read qb? This is ridiculous! Plus great defenses can take away your 1st, 2nd and some times all your options. That's why qbs end up getting sacked, running or throwing the ball away. Remember, and teams know that Miami's quick passing game is to protect Tua.

The teams were able to do that because they exploited weak spots on the oline because of injuries. Its a time thing, thats all. Now I watch the all 22, and I see Tua going through his progressions all the time. I also see him throw off the script. To me, it seems as if you pick certain things in their interviews to support your narrative . Then you say that you don't want to get into the Purposeful no call penalties. @@barrycunninghamshow but saying, "Our strategy is to take away his first read." Does not mean that he is a 1-read qb. It's similar to saying "Our strategy is to bring the pressure." And I still saw Tua go through his reads in situations that called for it. It's not Tua's fault if he does it so fast that it appears that he doesn't. Now, that's not to say that he hasn't had situations where the play breaks down, the receiver runs the wrong route etc. That he has had some issues. But to say that he can't do it is a lazy take. Especially when other people, including HOF Quarterback, and other Quarterbacks point it out. I'll take the HOF over the Pro Bowler any day.

Every Qb throws to the first read if its open. We've seen plenty of time Tua going to 2nd and 3rd options but if the line can't protect he doesn't have time to get to them. Just like you want a QB be a spot thrower, that allows WRs to catch on the run and anticipation. That's why you can freeze frame the field when Tua releases the ball and at times you won't even see the WR in the frame. Its ridiculous to critique that when he was #1 QB last year before he got hurt and #1 this year. Tell the O line give him time and he can get to the 2nd and 3rd then we can have that conversation about being only a 1 read QB

Someone on the same Defense with Slay may see it differently, but you showed an interview of this all pro claiming Tua as a 1st read QB, thats because in that game that was all Tua could do to get any semblance of a game going. You and that whole Philly D knew Miami's OL was struggling with backups, why state that the QB was a 1st read QB. He played to what was the best scenario given him and his HC. Bills beat Miami and its talked about for weeks, Philly beats Miami and same media coverage and the critique on QB1 is steady yet Bills lose to Jags and Pats and excuses are made for JA, philly loses to Jets and you don't hear any lasting critique on Hurts. Miami QB has been Criticized and critiqued since last season and there is nothing this Kid can do to escape the analysts, the ex coaches, all pros, and even disgruntled fans and their slams. This is just my opinion. What ever your expertise is Barry as long as you have been successful in it when it comes to Professional Football, show what makes you and your knowledge worth listening to or hearing from.

@@barrycunninghamshow maybe you're right, i dont get it. Any QB in that situation does the same thing. All im saying is when it is said here its meant as a put down and nothing else, because any other QB would play it the same including Hurts. Playing with a banged up OL causes you to take what you can get if its your first read then it is. So why would anyone speak on it, if given the same situation anyone would respond the same. Clearly Tua has shown that he goes through progressions when he's well protected, so when he's limited with time it's usually going to be his first read, again it is the same for any QB in that situation. I apologize if im being redundant but it seems like so is all the shade on Tua. BTW KC had a very low output and didn't fare well today. But im sure there'll be lots to say about Patrick M. Or not. Thanks for responding.

Barry.. what Darius Slay said is what all DBs say throughout Tuas past.. going back to his college days. It's 100 percent accurate and it's a huge weakness that allows playoff caliber defenses to shut the offense down. You don't win Superbowls by beating up on bad teams in September, October and November. Call me a glass half empty kind of guy Barry but if tua doesn't mark improvement going through post snap reads by this year they need to move on

@@barrycunninghamshow it's very similar to the Tim Tebow situation. He was clearly not a good passer yet his loyal followers insist to this say it's a religious bias that drummed him out of the league.. With his accuracy Tua can be elite if he could add the element of being able to read a defense post snap.. he could be truly great. But if he isn't at least pretty good at it after his 4th season... Well then it's time to move on because it's no coincidence that Tua and mike mcdaniel too for that matter have a poor record against winning teams as well as in big games primetime and december

Fins are improving every week because they are gaining valuable experience, McD included, step by step fins are becoming SB caliber team, lets hope they remain healthy and as a strong unity oriented group and keep bringing needed talent. When Ashane is back and also Holland and Howard the chances will skyrocket. Next year we should be seeing again Shula's level fins playing (maybe) a SB

Arron Rodgers ,, Patrick MA homes have great receiver's that watch too see if he is in trouble and help them .. you see Tua roll out but receiver's do nothing to help him hmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also with a shixxty left side roll right get away from that left tackle he is horrible .. do people have common sense anymore .. I think some normal people .. that are not getting paid millions need to go straighten that mess out ,,hahahahahahah every game is different great coaches adjust

I don’t give a shit and I’m sick of it. All I see are the results. Last week he had two TDs come off the board with the Hill drop and a holding call. If those two had held up he would have been 25 for 32 (78%)and 249 yds and 3 TDS and likely a win. Apparently he made the right reads a lot. Even the INT would not have happened if Waddle hadn’t brought the DB to the ball with his route.

Even if the OL is healthy, Tua does not have time to go to his 2nd or 3rd read. The OL was never good. They just looked good but the QB was making his throws in two seconds on average. If defenses can make Tua hold on to the ball for longer, then they have a chance at beating the Dolphins since the OL will collapse.

Tua is being forced to get rid of the ball quickly so he doesn't get killed because he is just going to keep getting sacked if he doesn't get rid of the ball immediately so he has to be like Patrick Fitzpatrick and quick throw the ball and try to thread the needle he doesn't have time to be looking around and getting anhalated by defenders

Tua should not even be looking at reads because he doesn't have time to look through reads because of our non existent offensive line so instead of going through reads he should just scan the field for the first open receiver even if it is just a short psss because to the receiver can run for extra yardage as long as he is open the primary thing is for Tua to just get rid of the ball as soon as possible.

How do the Eagles, or any team for that matter, know what Tua’s first read is? Tua’s is known for looking off his primary target, so Im not sure how a team can exactly do that without the Dolphins playbook. UNLESS, the Eagles #1 goal was to take out Tua’s primary target, which would be Tyreek. If that’s the case, then maybe “doing things differently” might be working to target their other weapons a little more this week. Naturally, that would get the other targets like Berrios and Waddle excited. It also makes sense bc early this week they may have been game-planning with the possibility that Tyreek wasn’t going to be playing. That’s my theory. We’ll see if that comes to fruition.
