Here are some tips for randoms. Unless you play with a 5 man squad, bring a build that can shoot. It’s selfish to monopolize the paint Never flop on the ground after a play. Never get 3 in the key intentionally. Never stand out of bounds to force a turnover. Consider yourself a competitor. Take pride in what you do. Sabotaging is what a petulant child does. If your build is useless without the ball, then go make a different build. All of my builds can block, board, steal, etc. I don’t have to have the ball to be a threat. I’ll lock up my counterpart and fill up the stat sheet whether I’m up 20 or down 20.

I literally just block the score board on my TV with my son's Nintendo switch lol. and try and just play for personal grade. I'm not that great at this game tbh. I'm like bronze/silver. I usually get a b+ or so. And I just grind it out. I really don't even get mad anymore. About the squad i just met them on the lobby we played this one and only game so I don’t really know them. 2k must make rec for randoms only while pro-am for squads. Randoms can be so annoying. Last night had a competitive game and it was only competitive because 2 players on my team just would stop playing randomly and then miss fading contested 3s when they got the ball. My man only scored when I had to come over and pick up their man. Then at the end of the game when we were down three one clown gets a out of bounds violation and a 5 second call on the next possession for not in bounding the ball. It was ridiculous.

Rec randoms are bad now but they’re 10x better then they were on past 2ks. It use to be strictly old heads who didn’t understand any mechanics of the game, all they could do was spot up with builds that couldn’t shoot, crowd the paint or play bad defense. Now most games I play pretty everyone can shoot a lil bit and understand spacing somewhat and play a bit more defense.

I think the builder helps. For me, these are the worst randoms I’ve played with in my 5 years of playing 2k. Previously a lot of guys were capped with the archetype system to do 2 things or 1 but on this game, you can create a Demi god with freedom but guys still bad. I just don’t get it

I love the way they don’t pass the ball, play no D, miss all the shots, turn the ball over many times and they are playing at least a guard and a center (or more) so they can play +2 vs 5.
