Been playing CB since they used to call it “Superstar” mode. It was dope, you could choose genetics that gave boosts to your stats (having a dad who was a track star and mom who’s a professor), you had meetings with your agent, you had an apartment….now it’s just Franchise mode with less control.

its genuinely a lot of fun but it can get really boring really fast, automatic movements you cant control, often playing great defense means you literally will not get a target and while that is what dbs strive for, that ruins the game because there is nothing to do but watch as your team gives up 1st down after 1st down. It would be nice if there were settings you could adjust for db career modes where you could increase/decrease how often the qb would pick on you or how risky/trustworthy the qb was in their receiver instead of avoiding their number one receiver all game.

If you’re playing CB, always play with 3 corners and cover 2. Then, Before you select the play, put yourself as the nickel and line up behind the linebacker. You will get 2-6 interceptions a game. I literally finished my season with 35 interceptions, 26 pick six’s and MVP of the league.

Tips for playing db right here:⬇️ *Warning 3-5 minute read with added stuff about my career that could be your career btw i did play the saints if you play man alot then you will get targeted alot. But that’s if you are just tryna got for picks and deflection everytime especially on deep route. Makes sure you start running b4 they get passed you and then start sprinting when you it’s not a a comeback i used to play like this but now i try to play lockdown in zone and i still get a good amount of ball thrown my way since i bait the qb bcuz i leave him with 3 options, to have him throw it to the running back or tight end on the comeback or the receiver going towards the outside. Basically i lock up one side of the field especially when i have xfactore zone hawk or shutdown. If you’re looking for picks then have bottleneck like ramsey and lattiemore acrobat is also a goat ability with 20 yards deep out elite or quick feet to help you in the slot quick feet helps you turn directions quickly when they go one way and than the other and slant down the middle. You just have to understand your character’s weaknesses and strengths and use them to your advantage while understanding the cpu and read the plays. I’ve played for so long to where it’s-gotten easier to know when they run, player options n go for a sack and know when they go for curl route. Know they go curl routes alot. My characters is fast but not too fast, also understand your receivers play style, also are you tall or short. If short then play close, long play a little off them. What abilities work with your character, you can’t do everything sadly. But you can do most things. You can change your playstyle if you want which is why I’m giving tips for different styles of db. When my character was younger i love playing man and blitz because it helped me get my career started since balls were coming my way alot and i had the chance to always fight for picks in slot, deep, corner, 50/50 balls, pass deflections ect. Im older i play more zone because our dbs suck now but still get good attempts for picks by lurking go ahead throw it , tight end of receiver boom deflections or pick 6. Got alot of pick 6. And it helps you become a better tfl kind of db when they throw to the running back. I might upload a clip on my sb performance to show how i play for better understanding. So first 7 years I’ve racked up 6 sb rings, 64 picks, first years started off slow because i was learned getting better and developing so under 10 my first 2 and 11 my 3rd but after that 15+ int every year 7-25 pass deflections. Some years ill get 7 others i get 15+. I’m starting to lean towards zone since my team has gotten older, all the saints we had have either retired or gotten old. It’s just me and marshon who has the most int in history because from playing man so much, he has like off memory nearly 200 picks and was racking up 25+ a season, not exaggerating, deadass why I didn’t win best db till my 7th year because he’s older now and slower and can’t react as fast on guesses on the comeback. I have 2 sb mvps 7 pro bowls. Are team was stacked for some reason, rashan gary, pete werner, demario davis ect. Roby, marcus maye one of the best safety in saints history, tyrann, few rookie. Kamara op in madden so he the 5th greatest player of all time legacy points. Top 5 are kamara, latt, brady, ad, tyrann and the rest of the top 35 is filled with other saints from our oline and dline, N qb. The pro bowl was always filled with at LEAST 10 saints…10* out of the entire roster because we were so dominant losing a total of 7 games out of the 7 year run and one 20-0 season, btw majority of my games were on all madden simulation (made it hard but still fun for you) and all pro competitive (challenging but not too hard) Aaron donald joined us after we beat the rams in my 6 season and he retired next year with us with a ring. Michale thomas good career nothing crazy tho. Have a franchise qb who’s ok. So yeah my career is already a hof, 2nd greatest db behind latt and had fun until madden deleted my 7 year and i got pissed and said im done playing db forever, went into retirement after that. Those are my tips and tricks and things you can do and learn while playing db next time. Haven’t played safety long enough to give and opinion tho, still learning and testing it out. But ok…so far.

Except some coverages rely on zone or double teams. Most times a team want to just shut a receiver down, they dont only put their best DB on them. They usually double them. Its not as simple as "if you make one mistake its an easy 6".

@@him1019 Sorry buddy but even in a video game there isn't enough players to double every receiver, in fact usually only one player is doubled if any are because one double already leaves huge holes in the defense. Some coverages are not all coverages, there can safety help in cover 1 and 2 but they aren't guaranteed to be there if you get burned. If you are running cover 3 or 4 there is no one behind you, and running man you have to rely on the AI to actually do it's job. Unless you're playing a total moron or the AI that has terrible pathfinding, it very much is as simple as if you make a mistake you can easily get 6 dropped on you. This is why cornerback is such a sought after position that pays among the highest on the defense. An elite CB can shut down half of the field, a bad one can leave that whole side open.

DB is like playing WR without having to actually catch the ball. its much easier especially if U played corner. Safety has much more variables

Me too. I usually lead the league in sacks in whatever leagues I'm in. I max out speed rushing and small through the line quick. Either I'ma get a sack or make him panic and throw it anywhere

Playing as MLB i can affect the game too much and the scorelines are a bit muddled, started playing safety and CB this year and took a while getting used to not forcing fumbles every other drive but its fun getting picks and locking down star recievers
