Why are miners lagging. Especially juniors. The banks short the living day lights out of it every time drill results are released

lost me at 'debasement of fiat currencies' - we have 5000 years of history of currency debasement and the sky hasn't fallen. Just not a reason to own gold!

You lost me at “5000 years of history of currency debasement”. The first fiat currency was created in 1011 AD (Sung Dynasty, China). Fiat currency didn’t reach the west for hundreds of years later.

Talk to those who live through it. Having gold is a life changer as that fiat currency is inflated away. Every fiat currency eventually goes to zero and since 1971, this is the first time in human history that all the worlds currencies have been fiat and being debased at the same time. I am buying gold and silver.

I think it's lagging for the simple reason of most people expecting no landing are in the Mag7 style stocks, and the people expecting hard landing are in risk off treasuries or physical gold. I think there is more downside in the miners with a sharp short term downturn when the hard landing arrives in one way or another and then you'll see institutions flow in with force looking for company size, grade, and deposit size in that order.
