The entire storyline of Riverdale is lazy and sloppy and whenever they realise something isn't going to turn out how the want it to, they take it all back and basically call it a "plot twist" because they don't know how to tie up the hundreds of loose ends they created. Their stepbrother it's not death, i think the writers show is face in the last season (4) where he is going to talk with the "impostor" that lied on his identicy, making believe to the betty family, that he was her real son (so the son of jughead too) but then, they find out that was a sociopathic like betty (almost) and they get him arrested, in prison he talk with the real brother of betty and jughead, and we find out that they're in love
