As a single woman, I was ignored unless I could 'help' with childcare, cooking, cleaning up after an event or 'donating' my time. And I got tired of everyone asking me when I was going to be married. Thank God for Covid.

Been out of religion for 18 years and never once looked back. Best decision I ever made was leaving high control religion. it wasn’t until I left that I finally found real community and I'm so happy to be free from all of that nonsense and superstition.

I am one of those women who left several years ago and actually wrote an entire book (unpublished) on why people are and will continue to live Christianity. There are a lot of reasons.

I'm not sure it's all that complicated. The women I know who left church all say exactly the same thing. They got tired of doing all the unpaid work. Nursery, Sunday school, cleaning, cooking for church functions, and everything else. Basically sacrificing their lives, not for God or even other people but for the organization which churches have become. Sacrifice without consent is servitude.

Churches treat women like many men treat their wives. It is slavery.

Great points! The worship of self is unsustainable. I'm a single woman in her 40s, and I suspect a lot of women leave because they would like to get married, and there aren't too many marriageable men in the church. What I find so odd is that people don't seem to think that women need emotional intimacy or sexual needs. Single women are just there for free labor and I am sure many have gotten fed up and left.

The Lord in the last days will separate the sheep from the goats. It will be obvious who the real believers are.

Why would any woman stay in a religion? The belief of a higher power needs to go. We aren't getting anywhere believing in a God who apparently relishes in human suffering. So many wars and atrocities committed in the name of god, if he's real, he is getting off, completely, by what's happening with Israel and Palestine. Edit: you can't be a girl and a monotheist without having Stockholm Syndrome. I have yet to hear anyone be able to refute that.

Interesting....but the church is a community. The hole point of going to church is be apart of a community. What this sounds like is the church is failing to build its own community. Its failing to understand how to build bonds within its people so they look forward to communing and being around each other as the body of christ. I left the church a long time ago but this is the main reason why i left. I was a leader but the community wasnt doing anything if my peers didnt even like me or respect me. Especially when i did nothing wrong and when i did say something wrong i apologized for it which is way more than a lot of people get in romantic relationships. Which those people never apologized for their part in it as well. I just left...the church loves talking about soul ties but soul ties are not JUST sexual. You can soul ties from interacting with individuals over a certain time too. Things can rub off, memories can be raw in you like the day they happened. Yes you can forgive but the tie is still there. I dont think churches are working anymore and they need to transform if they want to survive.

Churches have never been communities, they're prison systems.

I sure hope walking into church is NOT like walking into heaven. I was hoping God would finally show up when I got to heaven.

Wow, you haven’t looked at the survey data for why people leave, or talked to anyone who left, have you? Your hunches and anecdotes are profoundly, utterly out of touch from reality. Just like your superstitious beliefs. You need to accept that if you can justify going to church because you “feel like you’re home,” other people different from you can “feel like they’re home” once they leave the church. So many people finally feel fulfilled, empowered, at peace, and have a healthy sense of belonging and friendship only after they leave. If it’s enough for you, it’s enough for them.

Its cause they don't tell women what they want to hear.

So we found the man who thinks women should joyfully submit to sitting in the back of the ecclesiastical bus and be happy with their “place.“ Sorry, bud, life doesn’t work like that. Women are tired of scripture being twisted and misused against them.

Women are also tired of not being used for labor and being promised that they will have their husband if they remain pure.

There's no such thing as "church buildings" in scriptures. Infact the building is the SYNAGOGUE if you read James 2:2 directly from Greek. His name wasn't even "James" it was actually Jacob. Secondly christianity is NOT the biblical faith that is written in there its a new religion created in the 3rd century by constantine. The biblical faith is actually called THE WAY that is written in the New Testament made up of Nazarenes Acts 24:5 =(Jews who believe) and Gentile believers known as Christians =Acts 11:26. People are waking up. YEHOSHUA aka Jesus is the truth. shalom
