I'm an Yank pool player and I enjoy playing snooker too. I enjoy your videos lessons because they apply to pocket billiards as well. You talk about missing the easy pot taking the shot for granted. Taking that point a bit further, sometimes players will be so concerned about getting position they miss the easy pot.
@aweescotsdog83585 жыл бұрын
The best thing about your videos, I think, is that although you are clearly a very good player you have very good understanding of the average player. I have hardly held a cue in fifteen years but I am inspired to pick one up again now, if only to find out if my frozen shoulder really has been properly sorted by physio therapy and if I can still see the angles now that I rely on spectacles. Who am I kidding, did I ever see the angles in the first place. Best break (in a game 38) and 56 (balls lined up the middle) in practice. And comment from young 14 year old in one of your videos the other day who had 108 in practice and 80 or so in a game. But thanks to your videos, I still reckon if I had a go I could still improve, even after not playing seriously for actually closer to 30 years. I'd even fancy getting your coaching - but I reckon the round trip might be just too far to be practical. But having seen this the third of your videos that I have watched I definitely want to watch more, and mire importantly, I really want to make the effort to get to a snooker hall again. Thank you for that. P.S. Have you ever heard of a and called "slosh" or "Russian pool" (I think). My old man, a billiards enthusiast taught me it many years ago but my memory on its rules are fading and he, though still with us, is nit entirely still with us in the memory department, though I will ask him as his older memories are often firmer than more recent ones. I think it had rules like cueball touching brown zeroed your whole score, and touching pink? cancelled the break. But I cannot recall the rules fir scoring points. Not a serious game really, just a bit of fun, a pub game of sorts. But I like that sort of thing. Slàinte
You just talked about all my mistakes😂😂😂 Thank you, I’ll adjust 💪💪🤝

Steve when you show the line of aim, that line that runs through the object ball is that the contact point where you aim for with the cue ball.
@BartonSnooker5 жыл бұрын
Can you see the way that line goes through the centre of the white, and then the 'ghost' white. I'm imagining where I need to get the actual cue ball to, as shown in the image, and then than gives me a line behind those two points, which I stand behind before I get down. Then you must get down and place the cue on that line.

Very nice explanation. Well my struggle is on to be consistently potting balls. Lately i had a strong realization about feeling the shots. I mean to say i feel in every shot that i m not ok with my delivery. Sometimes it is ok. But most of the time my feel is that there is something wrong. I feel that snooker is more about a feel type of sport. The more better u feel the chances are high that better u may play. Do u mind making a video on what do u feel wen u complete a shot? Like how do feel when u close ur fingers while finishing a shot, how do u feel wen u feathers. One more thing i really feel that u have got a compact technique which i envy a lot

Because you have not to know the real aiming...if you know how to aim the cue to object ball...you will not miss any shots..... actually the aiming has the different way between the right side pocket and left side pocket (based on you are right-hand hold cue) ...if the pocket at your left-hand side ..you see the 3:03...it will easy to let you know but if the pocket at your right handside ..I'm very difficult to talk to you in words....
@djelalhassan76312 жыл бұрын
Taking the shot for granted! Especially after a very difficult shot that demands 100% of our full attention and concentration and respect, but that costs high energy, and maintaining that is hard work. Because the next shot is relatively easier, so consciously or subconsciously and self misleadingly we think that we cannot miss, and to conserve energy we do not give the shot 100% of our full attention and concentration and the respect it deserves and we miss. Remember that there are no easy shots, therefor we should give 100% of our full attention and concentration and respect for every shot!

What does watching object ball to the pocket accomplish? Once you make the shot, how will this "focus" affect anything?
@BartonSnooker4 ай бұрын
@@garryhealey8699 because if you watch the result of the shot properly each time you play a pot, your brain will have some data to work from on the next shot. If you constantly see a pattern of the ball going slightly thin for example, as you watch that result over and over again, you will learn what the correct image and path that the balls take. The more you see those images, the more you learn. If you look away too quickly, you can't learn for next time. You're not giving your brain any data and repetative image to learn from for next time.

@justinkemeter5 жыл бұрын
Look up dr Dave videos to really learn, for instance that first side pocket shot creates cit, cut induced throw. You aim perfectly but do to the soft speed and extra friction in the ball, the object ball gets thrown off course slightly. In snooker there is no leeway when potting.
@GSDhandler15 жыл бұрын
justin Thomas im happy with my positional play but my potting is letting me down. If i can start to pot im sure I’ll progress quickly. I just leave my opponents in too often.
@ayandamthimkhulu12645 жыл бұрын
Something I've been pondering. The starting position is standing some distance away from the table with your body standing squarely to the shot such that your nose and belly button is directly in line with the line of aim. You're finishing position (for a right handed player) is that your right foot ends up on the line of aim and your nose is still pointing directly at the line of aim in the address position. So at some point between the two, your head has to move forward and drop towards the line of aim in a perfect straight line whilst your body has to somehow kink to the left to allow your right foot to land on the line of aim. What is the correct way of achieving consistency with the approach to the table?
