absolutely shows the toxic state of metalcore fanbase atm. The song is a banger and just bec its not heavy enough ppl are complaining. Artists have enough pressure dont think u can define metalcore by heaviness. If u dont like the song ok but try to be reasonable
@danielrafferty45794 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s about how “toxic” the community is. I just think that people have a certain expectation what the metalcore sound is. But truth be told, metalcore has changed a lot over the years. Gone are the days that metalcore bands were all screams and harsh vocals. Gone are the days where metalcore was strictly just metal infused with hardcore. You could make an argument that their are sub genres emerging within the metalcore sub genre with how many different styles and levels of heaviness there is today. There are melodic metalcore bands and songs (such as this song), there are more djenty driven bands, there are more classic metalcore sounding bands, there are more funk/experimental metalcore bands. So I think why people don’t really like something soft like this song is because they have this idea that metalcore should only be harsh vocals and that it should be brutally heavy when the neglect to realize that music moves on and things can’t stay the same forever. Someone has to change it up and come up with something different. And I applaud fit for a king for at least trying to branch out here, even if it’s been my least favorite of the singles.
@Sempiternal7734 жыл бұрын
Not toxic when the simplicity is done by every band already and hard to stand out. Sure people don’t like songs when they are soft but I hate when a saucy band is sounding bland. So far all the singles have been lackluster imo.
@danielrafferty45794 жыл бұрын
Sempiternal today, it’s all about being radio and listener friendly. If you want commercial success, bands are expected to produce music that is easier to digest and simpler in its structure. Fit for a king is changing their style for sure, but they are changing it in a good way imo. I think they are at their best when they produce songs like breaking the mirror or the price of agony. They get to showcase their song writing abilities, abilities to flex different genres into one cohesive unit, and get to showcase their talents. It’s great to be heavy and brutal, but it takes a different level of talent and song writing ability to be able to pull in the melodic with the heavy and blend it all nicely together.

Ryan Kirby should accept that structurally both this and Breaking the mirror are generic and very sample. I know he wrote on facebook about a youtube comment he didn’t like. I understand why he’s mad, because they sure are executing this genre way better than a lot of metalcore bands. But they don’t bring anything new to the genre, they simply keep it safe and sound where its at. But if you’re new to metalcore you’ll really enjoy FFAK because they deliver some solid and catchy music. But for someone like me that’s been listening to core music for so long, I simply can’t get into this basic format of music anymore. Still, these guys do what they do to perfection, people need to learn to express their opinions respectfully instead of treating people with class of snowflakes or some other dumb s***.

I feel like People have a certain expectation from metalcore these days in that if they hear something even slightly softer, they automatically hate it. People are used to fit for a kings aggression on songs like backbreaker and pissed off that when they hear a song like this, they are thrown off and that causes them to “hate it”. This isn’t a bad song by any stretch of the imagination and I don’t get what all the fuss is about. They are show casing their ability to change it up and try something new. Even if it doesn’t land with a lot of people, you still have to respect the effort and the fact they are at least trying to branch out a bit.

Everyone complains because it is a single. They get worried that the band is going to go soft. Doesn't matter what they say on social media, singles are everything. For example he brought up Pressure by Wage War, a lot of people were excited for that album because Low and Who I Am were leading singles and got people excited. Obviously the album flopped because it was generic and softer for Wage War, but the handled the marketing side and building hype well. I feel like a lot of bands can't see if they make a 10-12 song album release 4-5 singles, make 3-4 on the heavier side/not super experimental, and leave the last 1-2 singles for the super experimental stuff they want as singles and for the catchier song to push popularity/radio play. This also leaves them with at least half an album to do pretty much whatever they please with, but I think the full album release varies from each band too much to make a general comment on it.

I don’t hate the song by any means, but it’s just very repetitive with few interesting dynamics. The lack of heaviness isn’t what disappointments me, but rather the very simple songwriting that doesn’t really have anything for me to chew on.
