Hey man! Great video! I'm from Argentina myself, and I wanted to say that you made a great job! It's a really nice explanation of my home country in a nutshell. Little side note tho: when you say "then the country united and disunited", you say the year 1952, I'm guessing it was a typing error, but that actually was in the year 1852. The same happens when you say that Buenos Aires re-joined the Confederation, it was in the year 1861, not 1961. It happens one more when you speak about the "Triple Alianza" war, you mention the year 1978, when in fact it was the year 1878. After that, you name the years correctly. I'm sure that it wasn't intentional and it was just a typing accident, but I wanted to clear that out if someone was a bit distracted to notice, years are important when speaking about nations with such a short history like Argentina. Anyway, great video my friend, you just got a new subscriber!

El señor este estuvo muy bien dando datos geográficos, respecto del resto del video - supongo que equivocarse por una centuria en los hechos históricos no fue un hecho intencional - evidentemente no entendió que la mayoría de Argentina no quería a Buenos Aires como capital. ¿Porqué no?

Adding to this typo I would added The oldest colonial settlement that still stands today is Santiago del Eatero City. The current city of Buenos Aires was founded in 1580. Hi, Buenos Aires, the official capital, has actually 3 million people as stated in the video. But with its outskirts, actually where most people live, you reach the 15 million people mark. It is called Gran Buenos Aires and it’s the second largest metropolitan area in South America after São Paulo. Plus, you have more or less 10 million more living in the province of Buenos Aires (300.000 km2, the size of all Italy). After that, you have 2.5 million square kilometres of land (half the European Union) where 23 million live. So you can have an idea of how crazy this is.

Hello from Argentina. Beautiful video and very informative, it's clear the effort you've put into it, thank you for such dedication. Regarding the Falkland Islands, it's important to clarify that the war was decided by Videla (a dictator) and he forced 18-year-old young men to go to war without prior preparation, and under very harsh conditions, as some of them died due to the cold. I also wanted to clarify that the Falklands have always been Argentine, but it was the British who invaded the islands first. P.S.: The country is suffering due to the corrupt politicians in power; I could present evidence and provide more explanations if needed.
@Marumili Жыл бұрын
for clarification, the war was decided by Galtieri, also a dictator.
@thomasherrin6798 Жыл бұрын
The British never invaded the island, first it claimed it as sovereign territory, nobody inhabited it, it then had French and Spanish invaders who were cleared off and the British settlers inhabited it from there on, Argentina has never had settlers on the Falklands. Argentina's government of the day decided to attack the Falklands in the 1980's because they were struggling with domestic issues and it was used as an excuse to incite national fervour, however it failed. The islanders themselves have voted by over 99% to remain under the protection of the UK, and that's the best indication of who runs it. If Argentina sorts out its corruption problem and becomes a more wealthy state it might have some traction on replacing British protection, but at present it has none!?!

I have to make a big correction. The Conquest of the Desert was not against the native peoples but to enforce Argentine sovereignty against cattle rustlers crossing the Andes Mountains. The absence of the State allowed Chileans, most of them of Mapuche ethnicity, hence the confusion about who the campaign was directed against, to cross into Argentine territory to steal cattle and sell them in the Pacific ports. In fact, the Argentine Army under the command of General Roca, who was charged with the task, recruited many native Tehuelches into its ranks who were also victims of the Mapuche marauders.

Good things about Argentina: -People are welcoming towards foreigners. -Normal people are open minded. -Nice places to visit. -Food is good. -Ladies are cute. Bad things about Argentina: -High crime rate, specially in big cities. Mostly because criminals can vote and politicians, particularly the more Left ones, favor criminals over law-abiding citizens. If a criminal stabs you to death, it's gonna be walking away within days in some cases; but if you kill it in self defense you can face decades of prison. -Infested with socialism. Argentinian Fascism has two names here: Peronism and Kirchnerism. The adherents are quite fanatical. -The Economy is a wreck. Decades of peronist governments pushing destructive policies of abusive taxation, reckless money printing, ridiculous regulations and subsidising parasites leading to enourmous deficit.

The first recorded person to land on the Falklands was Captain John Strong in 1690, the island was uninhabited. The French colonies were first Established in the Port Louis on the East Falkland Islands in 1764, in 1765 the UK landed on West Falklands and claimed sovereignty over it and the surrounding Falklands islands, a British settlement was established in 1766 , the Spanish bought the French settlement also in 1766, the British withdrew their settlement in 1774 but did not relinquish their sovereignty, in 1811 all garrisons or settlement departed the Falklands, in 1816 Argentina declared it's independence from Spain and asserted its authority over the Falklands as the successor state to Spain (Although having no presence on the Falklands) and in 1820-1821 Colonel Jewett employed by Argentina who started out as a privateer, but before he landed on the Falklands he captured two neutral ships (Portuguese and US) which changed his status to pirate and therefore all his actions were illegal under the laws from that time. Argentina tried to establish a garrison on the Falklands Islands on the 6/10/1832 and three months later in 1833 the British who never relinquished it's sovereignty sent a warship to the old French colony (Bought by Spain) in 1833 and expelled the Argentinian military (Without loss of life) who never returned from that date (Untill the illegal invasion in the 1980's), the Falkland islanders in the last election voted by over 99% to stay a Overseas Territory of the UK and is majorly self governing. Had the UK not blockaded the Spanish and French ships Argentina might not have secured its independence!?!

Then, shortly after, some pirates that claimed to hail from the Royal Crown itself took it, and we took it back. It is important to mention that Buenos Aires city is an administrative district, the whole city is much bigger comprising a massive urban area with mor than 12 million of souls and functioning as one city in several aspects
@maximilianschwab9668 Жыл бұрын
You got a couple of topics COMPLETELY WRONG. The secession war happened in the XIX and not in the XX century as you say in the video. Then the rest of the country DID NOT WANT TO KEEP Buenos Aires AS ITS CAPITAL CITY. The elite in that city imposed a plutocratic oligarchy over the rest of the country that functioned (apparently) well until all the immigrants came because the system did not share the riches with the majority of the population but concentrated it together with all the assets, and so made an extremely small group very rich while the majority stayed poor. So the country as a whole was never rich. What you showed here is extremely simplistic ... the GDP says NOTHING about how and where the money is, even less if it is used to develop a place or just flies away.
@jamesrosemary2932 Жыл бұрын
Well, my friend. History and data contradict your assertions. If Argentina was never as rich a country as the video claims, why did Europeans choose to move to Argentina, to remain poor? The reality is quite different. Any immigrant who arrived in Argentina towards the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century could have access to things that were almost impossible in his native Europe, such as owning a house, a piece of land, establishing a business or an industry, higher education. That is why Europeans chose to emigrate to Argentina or the USA.
@maximilianschwab9668 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesrosemary2932 Well, the majority of the people you are talking about remained poor, just not as poor as they were in Europe. I think we have a problem of differentiation here. Because to possess a large GDP does not mean that the people of that country are rich. To explain what I am talking about you need to know the following fact, while the USA, Canada, and Australia distributed the land available between millions of their inhabitants, after a civil war the winning party stole that land from the losing country/population and put it in very, very few hands. In other words, they converted the newly built country into a medieval feudal system, in which a group of around 100 families possessed almost everything and the vast majority almost nothing. As long as the population remained small, there was enough to share between that small number of inhabitants, but then as the immigrants came, this obsolete system began to crumble into pieces. By the 1930s was obvious that the system stopped working properly and in 1976 the Americans imposed a military dictatorship to be able to steal goods in an organized manner (the same as in Chile, Iran, Irak, Brazil, Bolivia, Niger, Nigeria, the whole of Europe, Japan, and the other 150 countries they keep occupied) then the country fell into chaos and extreme poverty, with every new president (with some few exceptions) the country went deeper down the ally of destruction until we arrived today. The same 100 families and now the Americans steal and destroy as they want, without anybody being able to do anything against it.

Excuse me... "proud of their country" "love the country"? not even close brother, im an Argentinian, born and raised and got to say that it fucking sucks. Sure, its nice seeing the country from the outside with the beautiful landscape we have and how big the country is by itself, but if you look into it, i mean REALLY look in to it, you'll realize this place is hell, bad economy, terrible security and a laughable government, the left wing destroyed the country and brainwashed the people to believe that it's alright to live off the state and that they should never go to work or grow as a person as long as they make sure the left wing is still in control of the country. Meanwhile the people that work their assess off every day BARELY earn enough to survive the rest of the month, and if you have a family it gets worse, if you're an honest fella and try to make a living without resorting to the criminal underworld, then you're going to be struggling for some long years. As i said before, the landscape sure is nice, but a beautiful landscape doesnt feed a family, neither does it makes money magically appear in your wallet. Im 24 years old and im sadly still stuck in this disgusting place, i've been working since i was 16 years old, and i've been saving money since i was 21 to leave this god forsaken land but sadly it gets harder every year, a dollar is worth 745 AR$ as of today 25/09/2023, and the average income of the middle class is around 120.000/160.000 AR$ with that said, 120.000 AR$ = 161USD and 160.000 AR$ = 214USD, and to put in perspective, a carton of milk is around 400 AR$ and 500 AR$, the meat is between 2500 AR$ and 4700 AR$ per kilo (gets more expensive if you want to eat good quality meat), a jug of water is between 700 AR$ and 1200 AR$, roasted coffee is between 930 AR$ and 1190 AR$, a pack of cigarrettes is between 800 AR$ and 910 AR$, the electricity bill for a family of 3/4 is between 21.000 AR$ and 31.000 AR$, and if you're not living with your parents and are paying rent we're talking on a range between 80.000 AR$ and 129.000 AR$ in Buenos Aires alone. People who live outside of South America think that Argentina is a paradise because of its landscape, most people who live in Argentina and have at least 2 working braincells would agree that it is a paradise, for corruption, insecurity and inflation, the average argentinian robber WILL kill you to take your wallet, cellphone and shoes, 2 months ago i think, an 11 year old girl was killed from a punch to the stomach because 2 guys in a bike wanted her cellphone, they only got caught because the case went to mainstream media, but most cases people get killed or badly beaten up by a robber, and less than 24hs later the robber is released, and if its a underage delinquent they just get a slap on the wrist and get sent home. I think a few years ago, a case went viral about an European who came on vacation to Argentina, the poor guy got shot on the leg by a robber and had to be amputated. Do i need to explain more? Do i need to make a longer tangent? WE are not proud of our country, im ASHAMED of being an Argentinian and i cant wait to be able to leave this place for good. PS: Fuck the Falklands Wars, The Falkland Islands or Islas Malvinas as we call it, are not and will NEVER be Argentinian, young innocent teenagers were sent to a slaughterhouse just to prove how competent our Army was and ended up being a disaster with thousands of families destroyed, those kids who died in there, were never heroes, they were victims disguised as heroes, rest in peace to every poor soul who died in that pointless fight.
