From what I remember, Barbie had stated that Sam wanted Kat to become bulimic. Like season 3 is gonna be a time jump and id bet you nate and cassie are together, prob married with a kid and both miserable- she wanted him so bad, he wanted a woman he could control so bad, maddie wanted to heal so bad, they did get what they wanted. Rue is a good argument of some people feel discontent forever- she stayed clean the rest of the school year cause it WAS EASIER that way- i dont think Rue got what she wanted. Fez had a bad/hard upbringing and carried on in life hustling- the only thing he knew. He watched his brother get shot in the head. They are good examples but not kat- kat was an example of nothing in season 2- she didnt break up with him and make a statement, it was wierd and felt so unfinished. She also just never addressed the camming/domming stuff/the strange guy that called her that bought all of her wishlist items. I think you trying to justify her being written off the show so confidently with a really weak argument. I think it was also to show not everyone is a great person and is gonna have a "character arc" cause that doesn't happen in real life- nate and cassie aren't good people but lets be real girls go with their friends boyfriends for their own selfish and insecure reason IRL all the time.

I think Barbara was just being a brat. In television most all girls that go through eating disorders are skinny and nobody ever thinks that a fat girl could because you know she’s fat… There are a lot of other girls that are more on the thick side that could resonate with her character if she had an ED. This is how you know Sam Levinson has no idea how to properly handle his ensemble of characters. Season 1 had an episode dedicated to each of the 7 teens and their stories build with each episode that follows. Season 2 followed just a handful of people and pretended the others didn’t matter. This is apparent with McKay, who, being the ex boyfriend to Cassie and Nate’s best friend, you’d think the show (considering how much they focused on Nate and Cassie this season) would figure out a few extra scenes to give McKay. Kat had a very fun storyline about a young woman taking over her sexuality and embracing herself. I’m not sure why she couldn’t still do the “Cam girl” stuff, but whatever, so last season. This season Sam gave her nothing but to be a horrible girlfriend. It felt so one sided too. We’re supposed to feel something negative towards her because she doesn’t know how to tell her boyfriend that he’s boring, but he is boring. She shouldn’t have to feel guilty about that. I don’t know why they had to make her a villain just because she wanted out and couldn’t figure out a pleasant way to do it.

The show writers CREATED Kat’s character, not Barbie. The show explores gritty topics: intimacy, betrayal, underage fun, drugs. An ED is not out of the realm of this show. Many of the actors on the show have said that Sam asked what their personal stories were and then put that into the characters. Here's my issue. People beg production companies to use actual fat actors for fat characters, and when Sam does this and gives Barbie her big break on her first major project, she is unable to continue the role as the "fat friend". She was unhappy with the storyline, and this is Sam's vision. This is a dark show with deepy flawed characters who are relatable at times while also pushing beyond the point of relatable in some instances. Kat/Barbie is not immune to this line of storytelling. Sam may have very well been horrible to her, picking favorites, and in that case, I'm glad she was able to get out. I only hope that this doesn't cause her issues when looking for roles in the future, especially since she doesn't have a lot of work under her belt, and she may be dubbed a diva and hard to work with due to the clickbaity nature of many of the articles that came around prior to season 2 and during the time of her departure.

i was really upset when i heard that barbie wouldn’t be back but if you think about it, it makes sense. kat’s storyline simply doesn’t fit in with the overarching story of rue/jules/nate and euphoria is one of those shows where all of the character’s lives are connected and it all connects to a “big picture” story if that makes sense. season 1 was much more about everyone’s individual story, whereas season 2 everyone was connected and i think that’s the direction they want to go in. for example, it makes sense that mckay wasn’t in season 2 because he really was only there to develop cassie’s character, he would’ve had no relevance to the rest of the story if they kept him simply because his story solely has to do with one character and one character only (except nate but that whole thing is dead in s2) kat’s story was too individual and i don’t see how it would’ve fit with everything else going on. so as much as i liked kat’s character, it does make a lot of sense at the end of the day sadly.

i love euphoria, however i think that season two was a bit sloppy and didnt give off the right vibe that it had to or had the potential to. I also think that sam levinson is literally so scary like yes hes very good but also something about him feels so off and i feel like with barbie and kat in general he wanted to show that he doesnt only use stereotypical beauty but also expands it in a way just to satisfy this younger generation that would give hate if he didnt ykwim but after s1 he felt like he had redeemed himself and now he could get rid of kat and her useless character bc he thought that focusing more on jules and rue and elliot and kinda their whole love traingle or whatever is going on there would be more interesting when in reality its rlly not bc ofc i love my girl rue and daya is amazing but likee i think i would also love to see more of kat, lexi and those characters who dont typically get a lot of attention.
