As COD multiplayer hit its peak, it sort of stopped feeling like a shooter to me and almost resembled a game of tag on a school playground except with guns doing the tagging. Switching from COD to Battlefield kind of snapped me back into the feeling of being in a simulation of an actual shooting war. It wasn't perfectly realistic of course, but it still kept a visceral edge and heavy atmosphere that would be expected from a wartime environment and which was completely absent from COD (at the time), which began to feel too clean and sanitized after MW3 in my opinion.

Your experience with cod ghost to bf4 is what happened for me except instead of ghosts, it was halo 4's content cycle. I sunk so many hours into long distance sniping in bf4

I actually got back in BF4 after a burnout of the new MW22 EOMM and my dislike of its ground war mode. (kind of like how ghosts was so bad it made you get into BF) Gotta say, 2023 spring was actually a fun spring because of battlefield 4. the 3 months leveling from zero to UCAV was the most fun I had in gaming in a while. Learning to fly helicopters and getting good at it over time and learning from the pros was fun. progression feels rewarding when its not a bunch of cosmetic items and actual items that help you out in the battlefield. earning UCAV was painful but so worth it. You don't have to play modern games, You can always go back to the classics and enjoy them. There is nothing wrong with enjoying games that are old and the more people realize it. The more happy they will be. Hell I played black ops 2 and MW2 2009 for the first time in the winter and I had so much fun with it. Its not nostalgia, its not because I grew up. Games used to be better back then and even though im from the younger generation. I want to experience the past I never got to experience much of.

@@samuylstevens-dn6lb Being a scripted event has nothing to do with triggers. THe Building falling doesn't happen organically like bringing down smaller buildings, it falls the same way every time because its a scripted and pre-animated fall.

I've been playing the series since Bad Company 2, and I still hold the opinion that Battlefield 4 was peak Battlefield. The sheer amount of variety of tools, weapons, gadgets, and ways to work together with your team was outstanding, and the combined arms made sure no fight was the same. The ability to permanently alter the map to create or destroy cover was (pun intended) a great game changer. A really good player could do a lot of damage alone, but you needed a varied squad to really do well. I say this as someone who used to solo objectives on both Zavod and Golmud in tanks, and treated jets as skeet shooting. You really had to think about your approach, placement, whether to open up and reveal your position, etc. I miss when Dice made Battlefield games, and not just whatever shitty trends management was chasing....

Black ops 2 was the last best COD for me. Then, i started playing BF. It made me change from getting more kills mind set, to PTFO mind set. imo, BF3 to BF1 was the golden age of BF franchise. BF had higher skill ceiling than COD. Adopting to it, will make a good feeling in long run. Even today i still prefer BF over COD. Such a great time.

No idea if anyone remembers, but back in like 2016 the summer before BF1 dropped, Dice was giving out all the BF4 and Hardline DLC out for free on Xbox and it was a huge boost to players, then of course BF1 (and Titanfall 2) came out in the fall... Man that was a good year for BF fans

I wouldn´t consider myself a Battlefield fan, because I got my first console in like late 2019, and after some time I discovered BFV, and because I'm a massive history fan I bought it. As my first BF experience, i really enjoyed the game. I have my gripes with it, mostly from the bugs and lackluster campaign, but overall I think its great. I haven't been able to play any of the other games for 2 reasons, mainly because I'm a poor uni student with no console anymore, but also because to my knowledge most BF titles are dead in South America (on console) so the game i play now it Battlebit. If you haven played it i highly recommend it. Considering it was made by 3 dudes, its amazing.

I actually had the exact opposite problem to you. I wanted big imersive battles with vehicles, aircraft and realistic gameplay, but due to various reasons I was confined to COD. And of course, trying to play cod as if it was Battlefield didn't work, I was just called a camper for using cover

Battlefield Friends was funny, I still sometimes say PROMOTED when I do something cool in any game, even if it's not related to a shooter in any way. Have you heard of Battlebit? I've heard it's something like the essence of Battlefield with all the excess stuff trimmed away. It also has a cool community that is more chill than most others. It should run on just about any machine with more processing power than your average potato from your local grocers.

Great video, only ever played BF1 and although I liked it, I never really got that into it because not only did it feel like a very unrealistic representation of history (dumbing down and drastically speeding up the pace of WW1 combat), but never enjoyed the weightless feel of the movement and the amount of jank vaulting had.

Similar story with me except I play first Cod MW1-3 then into first ghost. I felt I had enough Cod then when I tried bf3 beta test I felt something special. From after playing BF3 I never look back to cod. Is so bland it just not fun to me as the chaotic as BF series is.

i miss the days of paying £11.99 for a Map pack or expansion IT WORKED. the games launched with plenty of content and every 3 months we'd recieved 4 new maps. new guns, vehicles. now developers trick us by saying "all dlc/future content is free" that catch is the game launches with half the content to what a game would have at launch 15 years ago and this free DLC usually consists of 1 or 2 guns and 1 map every 4-6 months. by the time they finally finish pumping content into the game we're lucky if we even have the same amount of content a game would have at launch 15 years ago. gaming is dead

BF4 was really rough at launch, I distinctly remember it in back in October of 2013. But Dice absolutely fixed, polished, and redeemed BF4 to the point where it's a legendary game. The fact that it's still relevant and people are playing it ten years later, is all the proof you need.

So I don’t want to be that guy who says ghosts was good… because it wasn’t and battlefield 4 was without a doubt a better game, but I do think people are quick to forget about the good things ghosts added. I’m just going to list some things that ether were good or could of been good if the features stuck in the franchise: -the perk point system . -field objectives that reward a care package but could be stolen from the enemy if killed before completing. -somewhat dynamic maps with gimmicks like the care package in the middle of that one map. -Integrated attachments on certain weapons. -a survival mode that had an end goal and was achievable by the average player but had depth for long term players. -the squad mechanic that made prestige less of a all or nothing decision by letting players go back and use their old squad and class set ups. -(this one doesn’t really count but pretty sure this was the last cod with the specialist streak system but I could be wrong on that, maybe iw had it but who knows)

Battlefield 4 is one of the best multiplayer games ever. I really loved BF3, but BF4 was the sequel most Battlefield fans wanted, and Dice delivered. I don't think they will ever be able to reproduce the intensity and success of Battlefield like they did with 4. I would like to see a Battlefield game set with a Cold-War or 90s theme, with weapon choice dependent on the side you are on, and far fewer cosmetic and attachment choices, instead, I would like to see more variation in map designs, and enhanced squad abilities and communication. I actually think the map variation of BF3's DLC would be perfect for a new BF game, and I feel the DLC for that game only failed because not enough players bought into it. Some of the maps were so massive but nobody was playing them.

What an amazing story, I had something similar happen to me, back then when Halo 3 and Reach got taken over by MW2 I got it from a rental service and got amazed by it, I loved it, it was something refreshing for me, coming from an only halo person, and then the MW3 vs BF3 happened, I knew about BF for the same reason, I watched some other early access or beta videos on youtube and as a not rich person i could only dreamed of 1 game every year and i had to decide which would i get, everything got solved by a review video by IGN where they compared both games in a head to head and at the end BF3 was "the better game" from their review, so I went and picked it up, I loved it, its massiveness, destruction, vehicules, the was no game that gave me the same feeling, love to see someone having a similar path to BF, hopefully we will get some BF classic game at some point, amazing video

Completely agree. I was introduced to Battlefield through a friend at the end of 3's life cycle. I got 4 a year or so after its launch and to this day it remains my favorite shooter. I find myself returning to it all the time and enjoying it a ton on my own and with friends. Everything about it is damn near perfect, even with the bugs.

I played the BF3 beta on xbox 360, fell in love, bought the xbox one purely for BF4 and played it religiously for a year then never touched either cod or BF again unless it was at a mates house. The modern shooter peaked for me with this game

My only experience with CoD Ghosts was seeing my brother & friends play Extinction. I was well past the age where I didn't bother trying to butt in, but I was content to watch what looked like a new twist on natzy zombies and even added objectives. Sure, others have made the distinction that it would be played the same way every time, so it wouldn't have as much replay value, but to me it looked like it was worth experiencing at least once.

BF4 is one of the top 3 best BF games (the other 2 being BFV and of course the best, Bad Co2). It has more content than any other FPS game i know of and without being live service. It also fixed the trash suppression system that ruined BF3.
