I'm a person that has and uses Jingyuan and Boothill. They'r two of my favorite dpses and I am clearing the hardest floors of endgame with them but I too, if asked for meta advice, wouldn't advise them to beginners. I am able to use them because I have them well built and have their best supports, however I know there are more beginner friendly characters, ones easier to build than Jingyuan, and I know the endgame is too aoe focused lately for me to advise ANY limited hunt character to people, Feixiao included. Of the 3.0 characters, I'd say Jade, Feixiao, Boothill and Silverwolf are valid skips. And I agree on your take about Mydei. He definetly needs to be buffed in the beta and he really needs to get dedicated supports. Just like Firefly has Ruanmei and HMC, just like Acheron has Jiaoqiu, just like Jingyuan has sunday and Robin, just like TheHerta is gonna have Tribbie and Anaxa, Mydei NEEDS to get some kind of dedicated hp support or an hp draining support. Multiple supports already don't work well for him because they'r either atk buffers or their buff lasts only one turn which sucks because his own action advance might remove the buffs (heck, even RMC has uptime problems from what I noticed because, even tho their buff lasts 3 turns, you can't apply it every turn of RMC, you need to build up that charge). I hope that Hyacine, or Cerydra, or Cyrene or any of the other future Chrysos heirs will be a buffer for Hp scalers. Since Castorice will scale on hp then I can only assume hoyo will give her a dedicated support and, logically, any support that works for Castorice should work on Mydei, like how Sunday is great for him. I think the people who accuse you of "wanting powercreep" when you say "Mydei needs to be buffed" are biased themselves. People that say that are usually people who want an excuse to skip him because they want Castorice so they DON'T WANT HIM TO BE GOOD. They'r people who want him to underperform, at the expense of people that do like him, just so that they can feel better about themselves skipping him and I think that's a VERY selfish attitude from them. They wouldn't want TheHerta nor Castorice to suck but they'r very comfortable wishing that happens to male characters.

@@FlariousNut Except that, buffing characters around their reruns is also a very viable way to make money. No amount of buffing via new characters is going to fix blade. Mydei does what he does but better and Castorice has been leaked to have some form of draining mechanic of her own. Even if the hp mechanic gets their buffer he's still going to be second or third fiddle to everyone in his archetype. What about silver wolf, with the emergence of break's toughness ignore and res pen as a buff, nothing is going to make her meta or really viable again. Her buffs aren't good enough to warrant being single target, heck in the 3.0 story, she's relegated to support and giving a buffed aoe version of her kit. Apart from the select few who really want them, who's going to pull them on their reruns? And even if you have them, trying for an eidolon/eidolons of them is simply not worth it, since new e0 units are coming that would still outshine them anyway.

I feel like Mydei is getting the Boothill treatment, where he is a DPS of an archetype but gets left out in the dark because the next banner is a DPS that basically does the same but even better. I'm not trying to go against the Boothill users(i use him as well), but imo, Boothill only survived that because he is a Break DPS, and he pretty much is the first Hunt that dealt huge ST damage on his release. He also got the luxury of being a Break DPS, since he also benefits alot on new and future Break supports, like Fugue. The moment Mydei doesn't get any animated shorts and stuff, i'm definitely calling it in the Boothill treatment(he also got no animated shorts lol).

The issue with meta players is that it tends to be them who ask for increasingly more powerful units. I'm not saying it's all meta players. But a lot of them will start talking shit online about new units if they are not stronger than the characters that came before. Meta players actively push for power creep. So to see them complaining about it now is kind of odd. Meta players pushed for this. Meta players wanted every new unit to be better than what came before. If you're not one of those people then this would not apply to you, but I think a lot of meta players are getting what they deserve.

It's because the Gacha player base is inherently casual & HSR is an "anti-try hard" game. It's not really hard to understand, you liking or dislike power creep doesn't change the fact that it's going to happen. So when mydei is weaker than previous characters, he is going to get effected by power creep harder.

Nothing is gonna change the fact that Castorice is gonna powercreep every dps that came before her and I think the people who say they don't want Mydei to be buffed are only pretending they don't want powercreep. The truth is, the DO want powercreep, but they want only waifus to be broken. On top of that, whales are the biggest spenders and they tend to be ultra casual. I'm so tired of this hp creep, and as a husbando collector, I'm really tired of the FEW men we get being shit. Sunday feels like the sole exception BECAUSE he's a harmony unit(Hard to powercreep most 5 star harmony characters right now). After boothills release, we got 3 guys, Moze, JQ and Sunday. We got 9 new women in the same amount of time, with 2 of the being pretty meta(FF and Fexio). I just want to play as a badass guy Hoyo, let me pretend I'm some bricked up man instead of the basement dweller I am! Hp inflation honestly is going to kill the game along with the storytelling. My meta response to this situation is that Mydei suffers from the same issue as Blade, Acheron and DoT. All 3 teams have been neglected and lack a full team to work with them. For the longest HP teams have been treated as an after thought. Tribbie seems like she'd fit in with this team, but the devs haven't given much thought on using hp loss/gain as a mechanic outside of SU. Could really use a support to tie them all together and bring back those forgotten characters, like Jingliu and Blade.

The reality of discussing leaks is that you cant be "objective" with their powerlevel until like v5 when they are about to come out because characters can get reworked and tuned. I agree. I love the meta because I like seeing big numbers and I like the satisfaction of full satarring all endgames. My priority is still getting my favorite characters and I enjoy the story and puzzles a lot but it is specifically because I like certain characters that I go and look for what teammates make them shine in order to build a team around them which makes them more competent. It feels good to see a character you like perform well against endgame. For me, my fun is giving a good build to the characters I like and pairing them with their best supports and being able to use them in endgame modes. I'm not meta inclined enough to force myself to pull a character I don't like just because they'r meta. You'r looking at someone that skipped Seele, then Jingliu, then Acheron (I liked her but didn't like her stack mechanic), then Firefly, then Rappa. But I do care enough to want to give the best possible build and team to the characters I like.

Lol fr tho on topic I strongly feel as though no matter how much they buff Mydei in the beta they will still push Castorice and Phainon so if you want to clear content it'd be best to wait for a while before summoning at least. Current biggest issue with Mydei is his auto battle AI. If you bring him into Apoc Shadow he will auto target the boss whose weakness bar is locked and ignore the enemies next to them. Makes him actually unplayable against some bosses.

I'm the type of person who prefers to play a select few rather than as many as possible. If powercreep wasn't such an issue in HI3, then you can bet your ass that I'd be playing Flamescion Kiana and Dea Anchora Durandal every chance I got. And I'm not the only one because everyone has their favorites, and they'd want to overcome challenges even if that character is not the best. It's kind of like on Smash Bros. My sister exclusively plays as Olimar despite him being low tier. But despite being low tier, the game is made where she can still beat others and challenges despite that.

I planned to stop pulling for meta and instead pull for characters I like. But I mostly like male characters and the treatment Hoyo gives them feels passive-aggressive lmao Like, "fine, we'll give you men but they will be weaker than other characters. And Imaginary. Actually, I've always thought that Mydei is not the main DPS. He's the sub-DPS/support/battery, supposed to be paired with Castorice. His whole purpose is to lose lots of health and be super chonky to power up Castorice.

I really liked your opinion and the information you have about how the characters are performing in the beta/alpha. I usually don’t follow these updates much, but as a F2P who only buys the monthly pass to get a few extra pulls each month, I need to choose my characters wisely. To this day, it bothers me that Jingliu and Blade had such a short lifespan in the game... If I used them for 3 months, that’s probably an overstatement. So now I’m looking for characters with a longer lifespan, like Archeron (I have her and still use her). I want DPS units like Firefly, who remains excellent to this day. I skipped Bothil and Rappa, and the only DPS breaker I have is Firefly, and it was definitely worth making these conscious choices rather than pulling just because “I like them.” I do have characters I pulled for that reason, but it’s frustrating when their utility is so short-lived. So I really appreciate and value videos like yours with these insights. Keep up the good work, +1 subscriber here! P.S.: I really liked Mydei in the story, but I might skip him unless he gets a big buff. to keep powercrept from too far, Just made him powerlevel like late 2.x DPS that already do really well to clear all the end game then he is good . not to mention that his future Supports are not yet released. What we worried what hoyo going to do is made Mydei weaker than 2.x DPS then released support that will make him stronger or on par with 2.x DPS, made us need to pull for that new characters, but mydei mains of course going to pull this new support anyway. so yeah made him weaker now its good enough descision and when the support come made him one of the strongest or balance in meta. Or we want mydei is as strong as The Herta now then when the support released he will far more stronger than The Herta then people will scream Powercrept again. Sunday will arguably be the best support in 3.x, Aventurine is one of if not the best substain, Jing Yuan is one of the only 1.x dps that still does great damage because of Sunday, Gallagher is the best 4 star and Boothill is quite good too. Pull value and investment is a real thing. I have Acheron E2S1, a lot of people who dislike acheron try to explain why she is bad and how there will be a better DPS (aka firefly, feixiao, the herta) but I wanna remind everyone that, acheron is soon gonna be a 1 year character and that character has carried me throughout the game. Of course people call me out saying "but yours is E2S1, you don't have the right to talk about meta", yeah, I skipped so many banners to invest on the best character in the game and guess what, she is almost 1 year old since her release and she is still insane. Pull value is important just as much investment value.

Well imagine you didn’t pull Acheron E2S1 and instead pulled the next Dps E2S1, or maybe even the next one after that. No matter the current state of your main dps and your investment into them, the amount of jade obtained for clearing the max level of endgame content is abysmal compared to the average number of pulls needed for a copy of a character. If anything, just don’t pull and get E6 then. Saying that there is pull value in this game aside from (most) Limited E6 Harmony units is always proven wrong as the number of jade you get for clearing with said E2S1 character will undoubtedly be less than what you will have obtained at the end of a character’s lifespan (usability).

The only thing I disagree with is that it's not powercreep but power imbalance, this is why a slight powercreep is happening in genshin again, they tried to "balance" by making dendro OP, but now they are struggling to reel in anything else without crippling dendro or overbuffing the other elements. In HSR, they keep giving more HP to bosses, giving bosses pain in the ass mechanics (LITERALLY ADVENTURINE IN APOCALYPTIC SHADOW IS STILL EASIER THAN MOC OR OG VERSION, WHY HAVE THEY NOT FIXED THAT???? They had bugs like with Adventurine and Loucha where their AoE applications were not applying the proper amounts and they build some characters with obtuse builds that are TOO SPECIFIC. Look at Seele's E6, how was that ever okay? The reality is that there are characters where they really need to break their own rules and go back and buff and start fixing characters, otherwise, it's pointless spending money on a game with out of control balancing AND horrible story. I feel like anyone okay with HSR has NEVER played Punishing Gray Raven, they will literally struggle to play any gacha after playing PGR, PGR set the bar too high for me with other gachas...

I do agree with the current state of Mydei, right now his supports are just that limited to Sunday, Tribbie, Huohuo but even then he still feels weak. I will be pulling E6S5 as F2P regardless because he's my favourite character in the game so far, but I do agree that his pull value is not as high as The Herta bc of how F2P her team comp is. I think it's really good that you inform players that some of these characters will not be in the meta for long and sure people will pull whoever they like, but I'm tired of hearing complaints from the same people who can't stay in the meta while claiming to be "casual".

They get frustrated when someone tries to inform them of this fact and recommend players assess the risks before pulling. Additionally, players may experience difficulty when their favorite characters are no longer effective in endgame due to shifts in the meta, particularly in the erudition meta where single target burst damage dealers may underperform. Players may also complain about a character's performance when they lack the proper team composition, and they may struggle to find suitable support for their characters, such as DOT that the support don't currently exist. problem is there are more objectives showcases proving there is clearly a problem with Mydei. Aglaea on Mydei MoC on imaginary weak stage, with Kafka second side resisting lightning cleared barely 1 cycle slower with her best team than Mydei did, and it was a properly geared and speed tuned Mydei team so the "skill issue" part doesn't quite apply here. Sure you can argue Aglaea's team is pretty much complete while Mydei is operating with general buffers...Doesn't change the fact that this is the state he might be released in, and banking on him getting a support that works for him to bump his performance up is pretty much a leap of faith. I don't want him to break the game, I just want him to be competent enough at a baseline to actually be one of the best DPSes on a endgame cycle that so heavily shills him to make him look good.

Mydei will be just fine objectively speaking we have never had a limited 5 star not be good enough even Blade can still clear now and hes been powercrept every patch since his release. Mydei is a bit too dependent on signature lightcone right now but when he has it he is great. They just needs to balance the power between the character and their lightcone and he will be fine.

Sure, but its important to keep in mind what most people say by being fine. Fine, is comfort for most players. Blade is not comfortable. Sure Blade can beat content, but he requires quite a bit of work to pull off, usually with vertical investments. Compared to a shiny new dps like Herta, no investments required to casually beat content. Add to this, the quicker a DPS falls off in comfort, the more people feel disincentive to pull them. No doubt he will be strong when he comes out, but if his comfort isn't high enough by most 5 star dps standards, I can see why plenty are concerned. Hell this is why plenty dont want to pull Aglaea. She will be plenty powerful, but because she is an anchor character, her powercreep is likely going to be even faster than normal. Thus, people want to pull on someone who lasts longer or doesnt require vertical investment quicker, etc. Hope that makes sense. I agree with you, just offering perspective on peoples concerns

If they were to only pull a character based on their looks alone, they wouldn't be asking anyone. Yo! I appreciate your opinion, but my take is that I think The Herta is too strong. E0S0 Herta with a f2p team will likely clear, on average, AT LEAST 2 cycles faster than E0S1 Acheron with all her premium teammates. So in regards to Mydei, I think him being at the power level of a late version 2 dps characters is overall a good thing. I think people are saying that you're for powercreep is because you want version 3 units to be stronger than late version 2 units. Again, I think that The Herta is too strong, and Mydei being considerably weaker is a good thing. I have heard from leaks that he feels really clunky to use, and that his auto-battle mechanic sucks so I hope they fix that, but overall, having one insanely broken character is more than enough for me. Also I don't know how stong Aglaea is, but the same applies. I don't want her to be stronger than Feixiao, Rappa, etc. Needing stronger characters to clear harder endgame content more of an HP inflation problem, and the solution shouldn't be about releasing stronger characters.

Trust me, people who say meta players ruin the game are just casual players; I bet they haven't even cleared the highest level of all SU modes and game achievements. Meta gaming is simply about maximizing your chances of winning by using the most effective strategies and resources. We all know meta gaming can be very time consuming and stressful, but it gives for me a very rewarding sense of accomplishment that comes from mastering the game's mechanics, resources, and strategies.
