The size/scale/proportion changes are a direct reflection of Games Workshop's changes with the newer versions of these models. The sculpts that JT use are just scaled up from GW's digital files by a certain specifc %, and so GW's newer figures being larger results in JT's newer figures being larger.

Exactly! JoyToy is beholden to GW on all things related to the license, the sizes are GW, all figures are given final approval by GW…people don’t understand this simple concept

the weird thing is the heavy intercessor in gravis armor or the apothecary biologist are suppose to be the same as the primaries terminators the proportion is perfect sad it's so big dante will be a mess if they make the primaries bigger

The simple thing for collecting is exactly the same as tabletop, the smaller ones are just Firstborn and per the lore should be smaller anyway. All the newer models releasing are Primaris, thus will be bigger than any Firstborn, GKs are the best example as none of them are Primaris and will be shorter. Custodes are still bigger than both as it should be

To be fair to JT, their first early Terminators release were 30K models which are not Primaris Terminator.

It’s not just the terminators that suffer from this issue. The regular marines are getting bigger as well, especially the rerun of the bladeguard. 2nd generation marines already had trouble fitting inside of the atv and the 3rd gen and bladeguard are bigger so it’s very unlikely that they would fit unless they upscale the vehicles. The terminator size is even more ridiculous if you compare the mini versions of an intercessor and a 10th edition terminator, they are a lot closer in size than these massive ones. Sorry for the long post, but I am really annoyed by this.

I guess it matches what GW did with the miniatures. The Leviathan box terminators were notably taller than the previous terminators. Is it supposed to be the new scale for all JoyToy figures? Not sure. How is the scale compared to the Primarchs?

Personally it’s not a big issue for me due to I also collect tank diecasts. So I’m used to different proportions to similar models.

I love my grey knight terminators but putting them side by side with the new um terminators make them look like kids, wonder if joytou would do a 2.0

I prefer my Terminators being bigger, the older ones feel way to small especially the old terminator chaplain.

Another thing to add is for a Terminator they feel way to small not mention the older one legs look too skinny along with them being to weak to support the large upper body i dont like the look of it.

Yeah this is an issue for me too. As you say, new proportion is great, new size...looks great... but completely mismatches previous figures. If the previous (V2) Terminators had come out 4 or 5 years ago that'd be different, but I feel like those BA and UM squads came out maybe a year or so ago, and now they are obsolete! It's irritating, but again as you say, there's not much we can do about it. I'd rather not sell mine, but they look silly compared to the new ones now.... Good review!

I agree with your points. I also have to say as a 1/18 fan specifically I don't enjoy it becoming basically a 1/12 line as everything creeps up.

@@drew3493 I mean, 1/18 means a normal human is about 3.75" tall. The standard Astartes have to be a good bit bigger than that, and Terminators even bigger still. I think they will be capped by the Primarchs though, because they need to be the tallest guys, basically by definition, and a 1/12 Astartes would be like 8 inches tall.

Libararian in terminator armour should be the same size as the standard terminator, it is the same armour, just the librarian uses psych powers so his armour is all glowy. I guess the old derpy looking one is a first born and the new ones are primaris. But the old one looks horrible. The imperialis looks cheap. New ones are so much nicer.

Now you see! Space Marines can’t fight in a world made for a 6 foot man. When we “The Australian Army” where making the IMV the African version was to small inside. Which was a joke about the Boars shrinking. It’s a fact of life..my mate “Chop” never fitted in 113s or choppers. And he was 6,5 feet.

I appreciate your perspective. This issue affects many of us who have invested significantly in building a collection, often amassing numerous figures. Joytoy releasing figures in different scales disrupts our collections and undermines the effort and money we've put into them. For model makers like myself, who create custom scratch-built models to enhance our collections, this shift is particularly frustrating.

This is why I had to quit Joy Toy, I can’t stand the constant revisions and changes to figures. 1.0 intercessors were great, 2.0 sucked, and 3.0 were decent. Now they’re changing terminators and I don’t know what to buy without getting frustrated due to scaling issues.

Like I mentioned in the last video, it's because the figures are basically direct copies from the original GW models. The 2 models compared in the video have a 20-year gap. The more recent terminator models released in the last 5 years were not scaled that drastically different. Based on the releases, it's likely unfortunately JoyToy didn't have the new Levithan terminators models yet when they made the original terminators. As another commenter mentioned in the last video, you could technically call the older terminators Firstborn and the new terminators Primaris but that then throws the scale all out of whack now for the normal Primaris marines.

Im a collector have 60 action figures of Joytoy, and i ill not buy the New terminators because of this problem of size creep, already have the old ones and um happy with then. I dont need the new terminators.
