Genetics play a big role, however they dont do everything
@somerandomguy3037

Life style plays a huge role. People eat junk food, candy sugar, and drink sodas everyday. They don’t train and barely eat home cooked food and when they do it’s some processed food instead of clean meats and vegetables. People don’t exercise especially growing up and mouth breathe as well. Then they complain about genetics? Unless your genetics are in the bottom 5% or something just stop. If you truly actually lived as optimal as possible you’d at minimum be decently looking and with average genetics which most people have because it’s a bellcurve you should look pretty good.

I had massester muscles so strong that I would clench my jaws during sleep. This resulted in bone growths outward above my upper teeth making it look like I wore a mouth guard all the time. I had surgery to shave the bone growths down and now use Botox on my masseters to prevent jaw clenching. I recommend just reducing body fat for facial definition, and using Tretinoin 5% and spf 50 sunscreen to reduce wrinkles. I also get 10 units Botox every 8 months on frown line between eyebrows which is only place I have a wrinkle. Im 40 but people think I’m in 20s

I started doing facial exercises after seeing Jeff logans video on it. I trust that facial exercises actually reverse wrinkles because of the use it or lose it factor for muscle diminishing that occurs through old age. Besides he's literally close to 40 and looks 25 in the face. So I tried them and got crazy results, with people commenting how young I look in the face for my age.

Muscle loss can give a bit of hollowing or sag, but the biggest culprits are loss of fat pads and collagen (+uneven skintone). But personally I do think for most people it won't hurt to at least try it for a while and then decide to continue or not based on the result.

Volume loss due to aging has more to do with bone atrophy and fat loss than anything. Repeated movements do in fact set in age lines. Through google, Jeff Logan is 32 and black, He is literally closer to 25 than to 40. I have a good feeling his smooth skin has more to do with his melanin.

My biggest source of suspicion when listening to influencers or anyone random dudes on the internet talk about alternative treatments (eg jawline exercises in this case), is their obvious lack of basic understanding of science and their poor scientific literacy. Like if you understand basic anatomy of the mastication muscles you should be able to deduce that growing the masseters might actually make your cheeks rounder and hence make your “cheek bone” less pronounced. So the very first people need to clarify is what exactly do they mean when they say “make your jaw look better”. And even if it may produce the shape we specifically want, there are many questions that needs to be asked. Are the masseter sensitive to hypertrophy or are they resistant? How much training is needed for sufficient result and how long does it take; what’s the protocol? Are there evidence that test this?Is there a proper form to stimulate the masseters correctly? Inversely, is there an improper way of training the masseters?

OK. I'm confused. I took to grinding my teeth at night during very stressful times in my life (nursing my parents and then only two years later, my husband, through their final illnesses). My teeth ground down (dental damage to the enamel, the hardest tissue of the body), and my masseter muscles grew huge. My bulging jawline muscles distorted the shape of my face making me appear much more masculine and - due, I think to the width of my lower face - older than I actually am. I had those muscles injected with botox and my jawline resumed normal shape (thank goodness). So, if stress grinding can do all of that with only periodic nighttime episodes; why wouldn't jawline and mewing work for a man? Especially a man with an 'adenoid' face' caused by poor tongue posture? You keep saying how minimal the results are - but I gained at least an inch in width (1/2 inch or a full cm per side) to my jaw and I'm only a 5'3" woman (160cm). If I can manage that kind of distortion accidentally why wouldn't it work for a man trying it intentionally?

People over complicate the topic in the comments and even the creator of this video does. All muscles require progressive overload over time otherwise of course you’re gonna injure yourself. People get knee, arm and shoulder injuries all the time for ego lifting and the same concept applies to jaw muscles and joints. Applying what this video’s logic then, we should stop bench pressing, squatting or doing arm curls just because there is a risk of injury. Jaw exercises definitely work but we should not overtrain it and we should increase sets or reps overtime just like any other muscle

It's unlikely convincing studies will ever be successfully conducted. Results are very difficult to measure and the timelines necessary for visible results are way too long to be viable.
