We see it each season, Bridgerton actors speaking out about how their experiences with corsets were painful, made it hard to eat, and more. Whilst I don't doubt that these actors truly had the experiences they did, I think there are some clear reasons as to why this might be the case. For daily wearers of the corset, like myself, our experiences are often the opposite of Bridgerton actors, and I think there are a few key things that are different regarding the construction of the corsets, the way in which they're worn, and the time spent allowing them to soften.
In this video, share my experience with historical fashion and historical corsetry and explain why I think the Bridgerton cast had such awful experiences with corsets overall.
