Every dog ive ever had licks, i just assumed it was one of their ways to show affection

Why does my dog mostly hold my arm or hands or fingers in the mouth and gentle chew, sometimes to hard. Licks sometimes..... the mouthing stuff also displays as nipping?? Dog seems to think this is ok.

it might be a sign of affection but if it hurrs it might think its ok to hurt ypu like that because its been going on for a while
