A lot of people need to stop lying about the inferiority complex that many of us (not most, abeg) had in the 90s and early 2000's growing up and consuming African American media. If you are in your 20's this is probably something you won't understand, but many of us in our thirties, especially late thirties, definitely had an inferiority complex throughout our childhood because comparison is the thief of joy. And that inferiority complex was even more pronounced if you actually travelled out of the country on a regular basis. That's why I always applauded Burna for actually telling the truth about it and not shying away from it and being phony. I always say that I feel so envious of young Nigerians and Ghanaians these days because that sense of inferiority seems to have completely evaporated, which makes me so happy.
