For anyone who has a Corolla 2003 - 2008 you own the greatest car ever built! mine is over 300,000 miles and running strong ... Below are some great tips to help you maintain yours :) Here are some things to check on your Corolla because over the years I've noticed these parts on my mine needing to be replaced around 200,000 miles 1. If your Corolla sounds LOUD when it's running it's almost always a Crack in the Exhaust Manifold, Not a big deal easy to replace, and makes the car sound new again, And just looking at it isn't enough ... You have to remove the Exhaust Manifold to really inspect it because the crack runs along the welded seam in the middle, Also, a great idea to replace both Pipe Gaskets on the Catalytic Converter .. There's one where the Catalytic Converter connects to the Exhaust Manifold & another on the end where it connects to your Muffler. 2.If your Corolla is starting to waste more gas than normal it almost always needs a New PCV Valve or a new set of Spark Plugs & Ignition Coils ... Again easy to do! also as a side note if you are at high mileage clean the Throttle Body, Mass Airflow & change the Air Box Filter Also helps ALOT! 3.Change your oil every time the maintenance light pops on usually it's around 5,000 ... I've always changed mine ZERO hesitation ASAP, I've used the same Oil & Filter for the past 13 Years! Motor Oil Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W-30 75,000 Green Bottle Synthetic Motor Oil, The oil filter I used is the OEM Toyota Oil Filter 90915-YZZF2. 4.Again if your Corolla is High Mileage and you Notice your oil getting low faster than normal it's most likely the Timing Chain Tensioner ... And i know that sounds Scary But, it's literally only two 10mm bolts on the back of the engine to swap it out and you don't have to worry about adjusting anything at all ... Over time what happens is the O-Ring goes bad on this part and leaks a little oil, So replacing it solves the issue. 5.Another thing that could cause your Corolla to leak some oil is the Valve Cover Gasket, Again EXTREMELY EASY to do and takes like 20 mins tops, If you look where your Spark Plugs are and you see oil in those Spark Plug holes or drips of oil down the side of your engine it needs a new Valve Cover. 6.Okay, This one will Scare away some of you but, replacing the Catalytic Converter (IF YOU NEED TOO) I cannot stress how EASY IT IS! omfg easily the easiest Catalytic Converter to replace ... FOUR 14mm BOLTS ... I kid you not ... oh yea and the O2 Sensor but come on so easy! Side note I've purchased only OEM replacements and my method on getting one was simple, Go onto an app like offer up, etc, and look up Corolla Parts or Corolla Part cars 9 times out of 10 the person is parting their crashed Corolla and selling a perfectly good Catalytic Converter for NOTHING ... I paid $150 for a low mile Catalytic Converter and replaced it myself easy peasy! 7.It really doesn't matter what I tell you the Corolla is just EXTREMELY simple to work on and fix and the parts are extremely cheap ... if you have an issue with your Corolla and cannot figure it out let me know I've done it all to mine and fixed it myself everytime.

I was really fortunate. Four years ago I bought a ten year old Corolla with only 65,000 miles on it for $6950. It had been on a dealer's lot for a month but nobody wanted it because it has a manual transmission, which was exactly what I wanted. Since then I've put on almost 50,000 miles and it has been great. It is by far the most reliable maintenance-free car I have ever owned, and I'm 71 years old so that means something. In 2021 I drove it from Minneapolis to Los Angeles, up to San Francisco, down to Arizona, over to Texas and up to Oklahoma City and then home to Minneapolis, and never had a single problem. At one point I got 41 mpg while driving 75 miles per hour. Wonderful, wonderful car. I'm thinking that this car will be my last.

Change the oil every 5,000 miles and you'll get to a million easy. Some things start to break down and need replaced as you get to around 500,000 miles such as wheel bearings, and the alternator. Another item that I recommend replacing is the air intake manifold gasket. It is a cheap and simple job - just make sure you replace it with the NEW part number. This gasket was notorious for developing air leaks which can cause the engine to run lean.

One caveat: Take into consideration location where care is from. I am original owner of a 2003 Toyota Corolla (40,000 miles) yes just 40,000 in NYC. this place really tough on cars. The weather wreaks havoc on fittings and the streets are soooo bad. Pot holes everywhere, unavoidable tore up streets, stop and go traffic. and the dings and bumps when people park next to you. I am currently having the motor mounts and ball joints replaced because of failure due to the streets. Even with all that, it has been a very reliable and safe car and much cheaper to own and operate than replacing with new one. That is why we continue to repair and use the ol' fella.

Does anyone else think the XRS out of the factory came with a lighter / maybe minimalist interior? If you notice the backseats in these LE’s were able to fold down. Which as the back seat in the XRS was just a big piece of foam that is bolted the chassis as well as the x brace once backseat is removed. Another part that wasn’t on lower trims is the anti roll bar in the front. I know it’s nothing crazy but I just want to know if the x brace and roll bar even function in any way to benefit the chassis or was it just a selling point at the dealership? front bucket seats from the xrs kinda look the same as the lower trims side by side but with bolsters which are slightly larger so you’re more secure. obviously they aren’t recaros but it’s a nice look with the blue hexagon shaped clothing trimming which match the door panels on all 4 XRS doors.
@realcarreviews60213 жыл бұрын
Very Rare Corolla you have! I worked for Toyota for almost 20 years and I could count on one hand how many XRS Corolla‘s we sold. A great car but just very low production in Toyotas mix of inventory. Update on my 2006 Corolla the same generation as this since about 280,000 (now I have 310,000) miles on spent a good amount of money. Had to replace the two front struts because they cracked. Had to change my alternator, starter and ignition switch. Had to fix brakes problem. Had to fix the linkage from my transmission to the stick that puts it in gear. And my mechanic told me it's time to at least fix the driver side CV joint. Just saying all of this because you don't really want to buy anything with this many miles 250,000 because you are only a few miles away from starting to spend some good money replacing and doing some heavy maintenance Because at this amount of mileage the car starts the wear out. You don't buy cars like this unless they are like $2000 that somebody wants to get rid of. And I've treated my Corolla well and most of the miles I have on it are easier highway miles. People when you get around 300,000 Miles I don't care what kind of car you have you gonna spend a couple grand if you haven't done any maintenance and from things breaking. That's just the way it is. Stay away from cars were over 220,000 miles on it. There's a reason why most people get rid of cars after 200 or 250,000 miles.
@cnovalles732 жыл бұрын
While I completely agree that Corollas are super reliable and well built, this particular model has been very well maintained and cared for. 143,000 miles is low miles for that 2007. Sounds like basically still a new Corolla. Thanks for watching in your comments. Please be sure to like and subscribe to the latest content. Here’s to 1,000,000 miles on your Corolla, Cheers! 🎉

2014 Corollas and later have CVT transmissions. So they are a bit different than the older 9th generation.

I have a 2005 pontiac Vibe same engine 1.8 L as corolla and I'm almost at 296,600 miles and running strong , I only change the water pump and lower control arms .

Not many people know that the Pontiac Vibe and the Toyota Corolla Matrix are the same car. I am curious if the Pontiac will have the same problem as the Toyota when you hit 299,999 miles with the odometer not wanting to cross over to 300K. Please hit me up once you cross 300,000 miles to let me know. Thanks for watching and your comments; please be sure to subscribe. Cheers

I wonder what's common problems like any misfires or anything like that? Or fuel injectors problems my Corolla I had gotten 185000. It's now just going on 200000. The only reason why I'm asking is because I don't see very many people posting videos on 06. By all means I'm not doing well at all financially I've had my car parked in a garage since. I've had number 4. Cylinder missing. I think ? BUTI was told it's the fuel injector. I have not yet been able to buy the part to fix it. But yes wonderful video I love my car drives really nice I mean it runs good still I hope I just don't have the money to fix it anyways I hope to look forward to the future seeing people put more videos out on these cars

I bought an 05 4 cylinder camry 8 month ago with 194k miles. Now it has 240k miles and still runs like a clock. Best car I ever bought in my life.
@realcarreviews60213 жыл бұрын
Camry is still the best selling car and is awesome for reliability! At 240,000 miles, you should have someone inspect the timing belt for you, as a precaution or it may need to be replaced soon. Thank you for watching and your comments, be sure to subscribe for the latest content. Cheers 😎

@@realcarreviews6021 Thank you so much and I agree with you. My camry doesn't have a timing belt and it has a timing chain. They can go atleast 500k or more as long as you change the oil every 5k miles. The timing chain is lubricated inside the oil. And my camry doesn't have any engine noise or anything. It still is quiet and smooth. So I know for sure the timing chain is still not worn yet.

I have a ‘21 Corolla Hybrid. Great Car. 60k miles. DoorDash & Uber Can I expect it to last 500K Miles??
@realcarreviews6021 Жыл бұрын
If history rhymes with itself, then you should get you 500K miles! If you look at all the taxi cabs in New York, they are Prius. That is the same hybrid system that’s in your Corolla. Most all them will driver over 500,000 miles on. Thanks for watching and your comments. Please be sure to subscribe to the latest content! Here’s to 1,000,000 miles on your Corolla, cheers! 😎

It’s so Crazy how all of the Corollas digital odometers stop at 299,999 ! The good news, we all know it will keep driving for 3X more miles than 300K. Thanks for watching on your comments. Please be sure to subscribe for the latest constant. Here’s to 1,000,000 miles on your Corolla, cheers! 😎

I read that at high mileage, the rings wear out and they start burning oil really bad; is this true or not? i ask cause i'm looking to buy one now. thanks
@realcarreviews60215 жыл бұрын
Kevin S. - I used to work for Toyota for 20 years as a General Sales Manager. I have seen hundreds of 200K + miles vehicles come in for service and that were traded. My experience has been that those vehicles that had regular oil changes and Basic Maintance didn’t have ring issues. If you are looking at one to purchase, be sure to go to the seller and have them do a “Cold Start” (a completely cold engine) . If a puff of white smoke 💨 comes out of the exhaust, then you have a oil burning issue. If no smoke, be sure to run a CARFAX to look at the intervals of maintenance and be sure the oil was done every 5,000 miles or 10K for synthetic. Thanks for watching and please be sure to subscribe for the latest content! Cheers!

It's true depending on the year. I had a 2001 that was junk. Burned 1 liter of oil a week. Engine only had 152000 km on it. My 2007 has currently 450000 km and doesn't burn any oil.

This was my VERY first car. Obviously as a first car it wasnt treated very nicely 😅. I went into a ditch at decent speeds, I went over curbs a handful of times, I dinged and scratched it a few times and maintance as a broke Highschool and College Student was often done a little late or went unnoticed. I had a timing belt snap on the highway, I waited SO LONG to do a Spark Plug replacement, Coolant was flushed once at 100,000 miles. I put my 05 Corolla through hell and it took all of it like a champ! I can't necessarily say I loved my car, but I sure can say I appreciated how strong and good it was. Now Im older, I finally understajd maintence better and I've moved on to better/bigger cars but my Corolla will always hold lots of memoires!
