Why Buy a Wacom Intuos Drawing Tablet? [Draw/Art/Photo/Comic]

So you already have an iPad Pro and a Wacom Cintiq which are both top of the range tablets for drawing digitally, but you still want an Intuos?! Here's a few reasons why the Intuos is actually better than the Cintiq for certain uses :)

Here are some reasons: 1. the different display and active area size can actually be quite helpful, and using your ideal size for both separately is something you always give up when you write on a screen, even if it improves your hand-eye disconnect if you're still not used to it. Being able to draw straight, smooth lines in single short strokes, but at the same time seeing the result in more detail can be very useful. 2. with A5 or smaller active area you can tilt, turn, flip your tablet all the time to adjust to your hand movements and body position, which is very useful, but obviously would severely limit screen size on a touchscreen, and the hand would also obstruct visibility. IMHO for any artist just starting out, a remote wide screen (even just an old TV, since most TVs come with display ports these days) and one of the small light A5 tablets, or the Medium one can be a very powerful option at a very affordable price. In my opinion the Pen & Touch version isn't worth it on this particular model though. It's so laggy, it might as well not be there. You're probably better off calibrating zoom onto two of the side buttons. (An easy zoom key however is a must when you're using a tablet this small, since you'll be relying on it all the time when refining your artwork.) (Also, Wacom is usually great at updating their drivers for new Win versions so it's often worth considering buying an older model. Not only can you often get them cheaper, they may have features you want the newer ones do not have. Intuos 3 Small for example has a better pen and a zoom slider, even if it's much bulkier. Bamboo Manga didn't yet have the eraser tip removed which is gone in this model too (not that I use it but some find it useful). So there are a lot of good options to choose from.) If it's your 1st tablet you should probably go with the Medium, since you can configure the active area to be smaller on a Medium, but naturally can't do anything if the smallest model is already the one you have, and the extra accuracy is often useful.

yeah, Intuos manga came with Manga Studio which i really wanted but I found a program thats free and just like it, could you do a review on it? its called MediBang Paint Pro. Its awesome because you can put your drawings on cloud storage and edit them with the IOS and Android app :D

I would definitely get an iPad just for drawing on the go (Even though I don't like apple products, but they actually do server a pretty good purpose) just because of its premium feel and looks while on the go, but would most definitely use a Wacom Intuos drawing tablet when I am at home (a lot of the time). I just think the iPad is just an expensive hunk of software, but possibly might be worth it (depending on how well colors are shown and at a fast speed while it feels very smooth to use). bamboo is actually separate company on paper that Wacom bought back in a day. Because of some issues bamboo are now a completely different series :pens and scanning based tablets

I really like that wacom follows the modular concept of adding wireless option. You do not have to pay twice if you upgrade your intuos to an intuos Pro for example or if you are tight on your budget you can get the wired first and add wireless later on.

if you like line accuracy in small devices like this one put a paper on the tablet... i did it with my old bamboo connect (or splash) and its a huge difference in how the paper texture allows me to do better circles, curves and straight lines.

Probable because they don't need them without wires - I mean devices with cables don't need charging etc. and if you want wireless: They offer you that as an upgrade if I remember this right :) ps: I'd like to know how you are handling the disconnect between where you are drawing at and where you are looking at (frankly I have a very hard time getting used to that and I've never owned a Cintiq or anything similar!)

I chose a Intuos Pro Small for trying out some sculpting several few weeks back. There fer a few reasons for me to take a Pro over a normal Intuos and the most important one for me not to buy an Intuos 3D was, because of the pen itself. I have a cheap tablet (by Genius) from few years back with the pen being made out of plastic and I felt that it hurts my fingers when holding it for some time (the ergonomics aren't that great, either - really not fun at all). I never actually tested the plastic pens from Wacom before, although they are probably more ergonomic that the cheap one I had/have. What would you say about the Wacom Intuos Draw/Art/... pen? Does it actually feel comfortable enough to use it for a few hours? I'm happy with the pro pen and won't actually buy another tablet, I'm just curious.

Hey NihongoGamer I really want to get back into drawing because I used to do it all the time,and I feel like it'd be a really great stress reliever. I want to buy a sketch book and pencils and all that,but I also want to get something for digital drawing. I just switched from Android to ios and really love the eco system apple had going on but don't know too much about it yet. Is there a drawing app for ios with a lot of tools for drawing that also let's you export the work you create to your computer or has an upload feature to share with various sites?such as tumblr or pinterest? And is an iPad the best choice for me? Or should I just get a cheap drawing tablet?

If anyone wants to get this kind of tablet, get the previous version (Pen and Touch). Almost exactly the same, only the pen has an eraser AND it's cheaper.

It's still cheaper and offers more or less the same functionality. The only downside is now that it's discontinued, you're probably not going to get the bundled software. I mostly use the eraser on Clip Studio Paint, outside Photoshop and Illustrator design tasks, I don't find non-destructive ways of hiding unwanted lines to be necessary especially when sketching, for me it feels more natural in that instance to turn the pen around and use the eraser.

I really want a drawing tablet, nothing too fancy, but just something that would be good for casual drawing. I'm having a hard time with choosing between Intuos Draw by Wacom or the Huion 1060 plus. Does anyone have any thoughts on which one is better? The prices are almost the same, the sizes are different, and the features are a little different, but overall, is there one that is better?

I usually recommend Huion for beginner or casual drawing, at 70 something a pop you get a Medium witch is the size you really need for drawing.

If I bought a cintiq, I'm afraid that I would completely loose touch with the traditional media. I rather keep my Intuos as a sort of "necessary evil". Those people, who don't care how their art and design is made, may as well opt for cintiq. I for one, like to use traditional media extensively, and only touch up a bit later on with digital, so intuos is just fine with me.

I have been using the intuos 3 small I have with me, used to have intuos 4 but didn't like it much and gave it to a friend. I used to have the 12WX, gave that to my nephew once I upgraded to the 21UX 2nd gen cintiq. between the cintiq 13hd or the surface 4, I would probably go for the surface 4.

Buttons aren't practical tbh, I bought an intuos comic before buying my cintiq 13hd touch and I found myself using the keyboard even more, I don't know about the pro version but I guess it would be awesome cause the buttons are aligned in the same configuration than a cintiq 13hd

I’ve been trying to get into digital art lately and I already have a iPad and laptop, I tried using a electronic stylus (for the iPad) before but I felt I couldn’t get the right feel of the glass like how paper feels which distracted me quite a lot and I wasn’t able took make good pieces. Then I heard about the Wacom intuos draw which supposedly feels like paper but I’m still reluctant on buying one because of its price (on a budget, just recently bought the iPad) so I’m not sure weather I should stick to my iPad Pro and buy a non electronic stylus or buy a Wacom tablet. (Ps if I should buy I iPad stylus should I go for the Wacom bamboo or the adonit jot pro/mini)

Thanks for making this review! My cintiq hybrid's adapter cord recently died on me and I've been looking for cheap options to replace it until I've saved up more.
