I can agree that you probably won't get 7 years of all their pixel exclusive features, but normal os and security updates? Since you speak of their history, you should have a couple examples?

Pay 45 dollars a month, for youtube premium, music, google one storage etc, and upgrade, for free, to the new pixel phone every 2 years, and they axed it 22 months in,the subscribers never got to see a new phone. This and Google stadia were the two main examples that I personally knew of, until I watched a recent mkbhd video titled "can you trust Google". Apparently, there are tons of projects and services, with active user bases, which Google unceremoniously terminated. At least with stadia they refunded the games and gave the ability to transfer save data. But with stuff like Google domains, they just sold it to squarespace, which MKBHD specifically mentioned was a pain because just a week prior, he had moved his own official website to Google domains from squarespace. In the description of the video, he posted a website called "killedbygoogle", which maintains a list of all projects, big and large, which Google axed. Granted, not all of these were "promises" made by Google(pixel pass was though) , but many of these were services being actively used by people, like Google Jamboard. Google promised full quality image storage on Google cloud for its pixel phones, but later changed it to "storage saver" from pixel 4 onwards, and limited the full quality storage option on pixel 2 and 3 by date to Jan 2021. If they do somehow support a whopping 7 years of OS updates, which will be a marvel considering how quickly mobile hardware ages, I'll be stumped. But as I said, I'm not particularly hopeful that they will, official promise or not. Time will tell I guess. Edit:one more thing which I find odd is that they're already blocking the features of the 8 pro from the pixel 8 through arbitrary software locks,basically pushing you to get the 300 dollar costlier model, which makes no sense. If this 7 year of OS updates hurts their sales even a little bit, they'll definitely take no time to go back on this promise.

Just got mine, it was unbearable to hold because it would heat up like crazy from standard tasks. It also did stutter a lot coming from a samsung it was just too noticeable that the software/hardware is not comparable at this time so I ended up returning it and went back to my s23

I had a 3A the worst phone I've owned. Using it on KZbin the screen would get so hot it almost got to the point of burning my hand. Also would stutter like crazy, ended up getting sick of it and went down got a new S20+ 100x better

Right now we are at a point where the chips inside the phones barely receive any relevant speed improvements each year (for regular use, not talking about emulation, editing and stuff like that).

They're telling that they'll implement every new features in their older versions and the features of Android 14 are already overheating and takes more time to edit. I just can't feel a tensor phone being used for more than 4 years, that's the max if we consider with software update. Even ios can give software update for more than 5 years but they knew even their processor can't take the load of new versions

The Google features are exclusive but it only runs when connected to Internet, not local. So the operation actually runs on google's cloud and actually all phones can do it. While google have themselves as the boss of android and force OEM to use Google apps as default, they keep some features unreachable 🙃🙃

@@BVZTIII Exactly, my Pixel 4 runs smoother than my S22, that's how much Samsung sucks at software optimization, not to mention that I don't like One UI at all, I much prefer stock Android. But about Miracast I totally disagree, it's s a joke, the delay is massive (so can't play games) and it gives pixelated and bad quality imagine. It doesn't compares to real hardware MHL like from the Galaxy and other phones.

@@pill7880 i actually believe that, the S22 Ultra even officially had quite some lag issues, while Pixel UI (custom ROM) even ran smooth on my LG V40 😁 Is it even called Miracast today anymore? Haven't used screen projection in an eternity, because nowadays, any TV above 200€ is a smart TV and offers needed features by itself anyways, or "projection" just opens apps like KZbin or Netflix frok your smartphone onto the smart TV and directly plays it from there, without any quality loss whatsoever. But why would you stream a picture from your smartphone to your TV or monitor for gaming? Wouldn't you need to look at your smartphone regardless for controls? That said, I'm not a smartphone gamer at all, because most are crappy cash grabs anyway - that's what PC and Series X are for 😁 Serious question, what does one need MHL on a smartphone for? I simply see no usecase...

@@BVZTIII With MHL you can: - Make your phone as an on-the-go console, plugging it in a TV and using bluetooth controllers and a hub to keep the phone charged. With this you can play Ps2, wii, gamecube, 3ds, etc, in a big screen, with real controllers and no delay, it's like a literal console in your pocket. - Superior image quality and no delay, so it's way better than Miracast for mirroring the phone on the TV to watch stuff on KZbin or watching movies. - MHL related, the S series has DeX, which can be pretty useful for making it a portable office, specially if you have a foldable keyboard, a small bluetooth mouse and a usb-c hub with you.

s23 ultra 256 has been $999 off and on for a while and will likely to be cheaper during the sales next month. Pixel 8 pro was effectively discounted if you got the free watch and sold that but it is no longer offered.

Actually the Pixel has the better screen - actually the best screen tested by DxOMark. The camera on the Pixel is also better, with the second best DxOMark score in photos behind the Huawei P60 Pro and the second best video score behind the iPhone 15 Pro (Max), and scoring quite a bit above the Samsung S23 Ultra in both. Processor is better on the S23, but except for a little longer battery life or if you're gaming heavily on your smartphone, you won't notice and I'm *very* happy with my Pixel 8 Pro's battery life so far 🙂 Furthermore, *far* more beautiful UI and no need for a launcher! 😂

Ive had s series from s20 and im a very unhappy owner of a s23 ultra, never in 5 yrs of samsung ownership have i needed a new screen, with the s23 the gorilla glass was up graded so again no more screens needed lol ive had 2 new screens in 5 months, its far from a upgrade, seems they made it better against scratches and that has made it prone to shatter the full screen, just a way to sell new screens. I shall be movng to a another phone hence im here lol but this aint that phone 😂
