I agree that Halsey’s version sounds way better but there is NOTHING “carefree” about the song. If you understand the lyrics properly you’d know it is about a girl who abandoned her man and became a prostitute. And then he sees her years later and they still feel that strong love connection. Try listening to the lyrics more carefully and you’ll see.

But I do believe there was already a final version of mila since chainsmokers invited mila to perform on stage before releasing it. Still curious of the closer version of mila. They all wanted to be solo artist she wasn't in the wrong for wanting freedom she couldn't even right for that group they didnt have any freedom.
