This was education long needed! I have some serious 4C hair just like you. And I totally agree with everything you said. It chaps my britches when I see so many pictures and videos available in society of ladies whose hair doesn't depict our type of hair. And for those who wear weaves and wigs, the most popular textures are not kinky but Peruvian and Malaysian straight or wavy. And it's us that's buying it. I've long embraced my nappy hair. But it's a choice. I don't allow others to impress their choices on me and I don't impress my choice on others. But I totally agree with everything you said here. Always a great job.😁 ❤

It is discrimination. Our hair is unique and beautiful. No one should be telling anyone how to wear their hair, especially if there are no extreme colors etc. I am not going to wear straight hair because white people feel its acceptable. WE are GOOD ENOUGH.....

Just the slavery mentality engrained in our society. Why is a puff or twist out considered untamed and unprofessional? Because society has the idea that the closer it is to looking Caucasian the better. Some people will deny it but the issue is within most people subconsciously. We need to try to get away from this and teach kids better. It's 2016 for heaven's sake.

OMG your comment was right on! There is nothing wrong with wearing your hair natural, no matter where you work! I have this debate with my mom all the time. She still has a perm and I am natural and she will tell me I like your hair like this or I don't like your hair like that, it's too wild! I'm like Really?! Because YOU gave me this hair! It's all slave mentality. "Hair is not beautiful and you are not beautiful if your hair is not straight." It's ridiculous!

I think it depends on where you live. I wear puffs to work sometimes (not a bank). some people I know who work at banks do too. One natural friend of mine is a bank supervisor. Over time I think things will change where you are.

I agree. It is nice to know what you just commented and said though.

Let's stop saying things like "bad hair" and "crazy hair" and "ugly". Going natural takes time and you have to mentally adjust to not seeing your hair on the "creamy crack". Especially don't tell people they have bad hair because they can't control it when the fact is it is a learning process. You have to learn what products work for your hair and what makes it frizzy. For example, if I use coconut oil, my hair is shiny for a day and is bone dry the next. So, I use black castor oil and I no longer have the problem. I didn't give up and say "I have bad hair" I found what works. Verbiage check...

I have tired to lay my edges with just about every product and it just doesn't do it, within minutes after applying product it just reverts like I never added any products, so it's kind of impossible for me to have sleek hair.

I understand. I edges stay when I apply gel, brush down, tie down after brushing down immediately and then waiting until the gel dries before removing my head tie.
