This is the consequence of the patriarchy. It hurts men too. It teaches men that anything related to femininity is weak and that emotions are feminine traits. Which isn't true. Both men and women can equally express emotions. Men have been socialized to repress all emotions except anger. This is not good because repressed emotions later manifest themselves in destructive ways.

Maybe in a sense of needing reassurance, validate me in feeling like I’m your ace and nothing can change that. And it’s not like you need to do that everyday but often. In the world we live in today with so many ways to be sneaky and unloyal and so many people taking advantage of those, not constant but continuous emotional reassurance and affection is really necessary. There is a time and place to share feelings and everyone needs to learn how to express them properly. Popping off on someone unexpectedly isn’t expressing your feelings. @YuhasLol
@YuhasLol Жыл бұрын
That's not the point. The point is that men don't have a safe space to express how they feel. Part of the reason men DO put others down when expressing is because we're expected to appear "masculine" at all times. Even during a moment that should show vulnerability and weakness, we aren't given that privilege from society, so it becomes aggression. That's just as much fault with society as "men". Like the saying goes, "The child that doesn't feel love from it's village will burn it to the ground to feel it's warmth". It's a system/society issue, not just one sided.

Nowadays people equate having a business, taking care of business and having money as the main ways of being grown and being able to be in a relationship. But when you spent most of your young adult years sleeping with everybody and doing whatever and feeling like you can't have anybody jealous over it, then one day flip a switch and try to be a mature adult in a relationship that stuff doesn't go away. We should have been learning that the whole time from being a young adult to what we are now. So that's why people are the way they are because our generation is screwed up

Winnie Harlow was there as well with HER MAN so no one is saying Keke can't enjoy herself or her new body, but there is a way to carry yourself and respect your partner. I don’t think it’s about shaming them because they have feelings I think it’s about the emotional intelligence of the person they are giving this information to and also how they articulate their feelings. Not even sure what you mean by "emotional intelligence" but that's kind of ironic because men are the only ones consistently held accountable, so any issue a 35 year old would be expressing would probably be something a lot deeper than “my parents are to blame for my actions”

@@hueyfreeman5509 Not everyone can receive information or knows how to be there for others when they are vulnerable and also respectfully exclude their own feelings to even let a man have his moment. Being held accountable by others and holding oneself accountable is two different things. Now whether it's a man or not.. venting is essential, but resolution should be followed behind that. How many times are you willing to listen to someone "vent" about the same thing? Most men even use it to their advantage that it isn't normalized enough for them to be vulnerable just to be secretive. So yes.. victim mentality.
@hueyfreeman5509
@hueyfreeman5509 Жыл бұрын
@@sincerelyykay It seems like you have a specific person or a few people in mind and you're using them to generalize men, which couldn't be further from the truth. Your first sentence basically describes a lot of women. They don't know how to be there for a man if he gets vulnerable because they don't understand the male experience and prioritize their feelings. Then to your next sentence, being held accountable and taking accountability yourself are two different things yes, but they often go hand in hand. Other people holding you accountable is often the wake up call a man needs to look in the mirror and improve, which again is ironic to your point because unlike men, women have their bad decisions reinforced and rarely ever take accountability and self improve. You're also kind of contradicting yourself saying men vent about the same thing but then in the next saying men are being secretive. So how can you be secretive and vent? Men are "secretive" because we know women can't handle our problems, so we deal with them ourselves. So where is the "victim mentality" here? If anybody that's women who don't really see accountability, just look at this past couple weeks of jt and keke palmer

@@phantomzxro1 We can't say though "that's what it would be like for men to healthy express their feelings and how it would be received" because he did not express himself in a healthy way. Now putting that aside (because I do agree everyone's feelings should be validated), he was also dragged for his hypocrisy. He spoke on traditional values, yet, he was not a man of traditional values - he had a baby out of wedlock, was not the bread winner, was not the head of his household (nor was that even his house). Also, he was complaining about his woman dancing on Usher but has thirst trap photos on instagram. He had himself looking silly. If you're going to rant, at least make sense. This grown man had other grown men publicly scrutinizing and call his lady a whore/slut for the whole world to see because he got jealous. That's messed up.
