An important bit of context regarding Canada and the NDP/Liberal agreement: a large part of breaking the confidence and supply agreement could be due to how the liberals handled the rail worker dispute in August. The NDP campaign on a very pro-labour platform, and it's been reported that they've been assessing pulling out of their agreement with the liberals when they forced the rail workers back to work. Personally, I don't expect an election to be triggered before the one scheduled in october 2025. It's not entirely out of the question though, as if they start to do slightly better in the polls and surpass the liberals, the NDP may be willing to accept a conservative majority if they're posed to be the opposition party.

As someone from East Africa I'll tell you this. China doubling down on a bad decision when they are getting closer and closer to collapse is the dumbest move. They don't have the money/time left to flounder money on investments that most will be useless due to most of these projects being so corrupt due to local and Chinese officials to where it's a waste of time. They just need to stop being aggressive against their neighbors and invest in them if they ever seriously want to challenge USA

There’s nothing to invest in domestically. They’ve squeezed their own people both fiscally and demographically. Investment in general is hitting a wall.
@megathai22 күн бұрын

@Puzekat222 күн бұрын
I disagree. China needs trading partners so they are going to invest in Africa so that Africa buys their shit. They’re going to own Africa. They have no problem with that and most of the leaders in Africa are corrupt and you kind of know that. The Western world has been controlling too much of this world in China and Russia are taken over.
@baiwuli678122 күн бұрын
It’s not that simple, okay? It’s not just that China needs to stop being aggressive. If China wants to improve its relationships with its neighbors, it has to concede a lot of things. If China wants to improve relationships with: 1. Taiwan, it has to recognize Taiwan's independence, losing territory and domestic support; 2. Vietnam and the Philippines, it has to abandon its claim over the South China Sea, losing a huge future potential economic zone; 3. India, it has to abandon Tibet; 4. South Korea, it has to abandon its ally North Korea. Considering all this, investing in Africa costs China much less.

As a Canadian, I’d like to say that NDP will almost certainly not consent to any no-confidence vote, as they are weaker than the Liberals themselves for supporting the government. Furthermore, his reactionary stance against his own base on the Palestine issue has cut him off at the knees. He also sacked MPPs and threatened MPs for wearing keffiyeh’s for ‘antisemitism’. This has gone off like a fart in Church with NDP voters. His moves have hurt his trust with his base, which as the only party left of centre, is quite the achievement. I think he is realizing he is has taken on the stench of a loser (Trudeau) for little gain, and fails to differentiate himself in the wake of this.

What are the conservatives like in Canada Republicans lit?
@TheMan8355422 күн бұрын
Especially recently. Poilievre has been dipping into culture war topics which has been resonating. Extremely bad timing for Trudeau to get stale.

The Conservatives in Canada aren’t a unified group based on every issue. Arguably the big difference between Canada and the US are social issues. Pierre has dismissed the idea of reintroducing abortion laws outright and supports same sex marriage. If you have a republican commit to those same points, they’re probably not getting elected. That being said, Pierre really made his name as the super pro-trucker guy during the 2022 Trucker Convoy, whereas the provincial (read: state) Conservative government was supportive of the use of emergency powers to get the truckers to go away. Divisions do exist between regions, but that’s sort of to be expected.

Politicians? Ya. The people? No. Low effort populists are the same across the border but the actual wealthy actors on the right are different. Canadian conservatives tend to be small ego truck drivers with huge chips on their shoulder and massive blind spots for identity politics because of total lack of self awareness.

So Meet The Robinsons was right? Fantastic! Soon Canada will be the 54th state of North Montana! We have to prioritize Puerto Rico, Guam, and Cuba first, but we'll get to it before we admit Sonara and Yucatan don't you worry.

Most governments around the world do not have a government system like the U.S. When someone says a government might “fall” they mean the demise of the party that formed government. Not the entire country or government structure.
