I think Syd and Marcus as a couple was shutdown this season. His arc seems to be headed in a more career focused direction. But we'll see.

I think they will have more of a big brother kid sister vibe..plus the way they have hinted on her being gay in the episode where she goes sampling food from different places. Like when she said she had a partner and the chef said who and she said not that kind

If anything Syd would be the older sibling because she's had to babysit Carmy and his emotions all season. And that "hint" you mentioned is a huge stretch tbh. I don't think they've hinted at Syd being queer at all, but that's just my opinion.

You guys want her to be gay so bad & I feel like it’s only because you really don’t want her & Carmy to get together, for some reason. Sydney was definitely talking about Carmy being her partner when she was sampling food.

I agree. And I would love to see them end up together, but not yet. My theory is that Syd will leave to run the other guy's restaurant and will make a name for herself, earning that Michelin star. She might even date Luca for a while, who I think Carmy will hire to replace her when she leaves. Meanwhile, Carmy will go to therapy and maybe try to work things out with Claire, but it won't work out (partly because she suspects he has feelings for Syd). And he might realize he doesn't want to run a super high-end Michelin star type restaurant. That's what he knows, but it makes him miserable, and it isn't great for his mental health. I think the Bear will end up being a happy medium between the neighborhood dive and the fine dining spot he thought he wanted. It'll end up being an elevated but homey spot that both the critics and the regulars love, and where he's not spending $5,000 on butter. It will finally turn a profit, and Carmy will be able to repay his uncle. [Note: he said he wanted his legacy to be one where he's square with everyone, and he's running a kitchen that is stress-free and calm.] By the time Syd comes back to the Bear it'll be because she also realized the Michelin star wasn't all that important, and she missed her Bear crew--especially Carmy. But the two of them will be fully equals at that point, and that's when they'll finally get together, fall in love, and run The Bear together. (I HOPE!)

I love seeing their relationship (friendship not romantic) slowly grow while they're learning lessons and growing in small ways from each other and others in their own lives. I have no idea how its going to work out but im all for the Journey. Just the fact that they're developing a good foundation for strong bond and connection is enough and very Beautiful in its own way. More better than an on and off again kind of thing.

The Bear is a great show. The chemistry between them is magnetic, but a sexual relationship I don’t see it nor want it. I can see a life long, intense at times, relationship. Mainly due to the professional industry and same mindset to build a solid foundation for their restaurant. I see their relationship like Howard Stern & Robyn Quivers, not in particular the color aspect, but the intense love and respect that’s not sexual. Honestly, if you can find a relationship like that, it will most likely last longer and be more meaningful than a sexual relationship.

The success of the restaurant and their own individual wellbeing should come first and foremost before any hint of romance starts between them. Yea they can be like the mom&dad of the business but should keep their relationship on a workplace level; the romance can wait till season 5 or 6 no rush. The quality of the story should come first before fan-service.

I don't know if we'll ever get any romance, the way the actors and showrunner keep shooting the idea down ..now i'm skeptical. I'm thinking about leads who people wanted together like Mulder and Scully on the x-files - did they ever get together? I don't recall. But I think the Bear will last for about 6 seasons, and if it does happen between Carmy and Syd then it ain't gonna happen until deep in like season 5. ..I'm callng it now. They both have a lot of emotional growing to do so fingers crossed that they give the people - us what we want eventually.

I love each of these characters, but I do not want to see them together romantically. And that’s because I think Carmy needs to get himself together first. From the beginning, and especially now, he has no business being with anyone. Syd deserves better, frankly.

I just want the series to end with Carmy not ending himself like his brother. That’s the whole shows point, mental health. Claire is his crutch, Syd needs to get away and not end up like carmy and his generational trauma. Season 3 wasn’t that bad btw!

Season 3 was meant to be disjointed. At least, that's what I think. It is presenting the issues so that they can be addressed in season 4. Season 4 feels like a resolution season where the chaos is dealt with.

I agree. They should wait. I love the little romantic beats interspersed within the show, but they both need to work on their mental health before anything.🙂

There is no romance between these two. Their relationship of about one between a mentor and apprentice, teacher and student and how not to repeat trauma experienced by an abusive mentor by continuing the cycle. There literally a quote in the show about how "working for a bad boss is the greatest mistake, such as it unlocks in you the culture you want to create" That quote sums up what the relationship between Carmy and Syd are. Carmy experienced many good mentors but seems to be hung up on the abusive one who scarred him and thus is unconsciously repeating the abuse and control onto Syd, which now Syd is presented with the choice to get away and create her own culture. Carmy has feelings for Clare. Syd is focused in her career. People thinking this show is about "shipping" and a relationship that is not there are completely media illiterate and is an insult to the writers reducing the characters, especially syd, to judt being another love interest character. It's lazy, pathetic, and immature.

Not every show with a man and women friendship should turn into romance. This is definitely not it. It’s been amazing with their mentor/protégé dynamic and shouldn’t go any further

@@Emogyal nah, its because its such a tired thing in all media. Guy and girl become friends and immediately you known they’re are most likely gonna be a couple. There should be more platonic male/female relationships in shows and movies.

What mentor/Protege relationship? He makes all the decisions and is too mentally unstable to even be a reliable friend at this point. Personally, I don't think Carmy is in a place for any kind of relationship cause all of his relationships are strained or hanging on a thread because of his own personal issues.
