The Curiosity Approach

Күн бұрын

Have you noticed how modern childhoods have changed, yet we are still trying to teach children, using methods from over 200 years ago. A method designed to get children prepared for factory life!
We can no longer teach children using educational methods of a bygone era, instead children need to learn within Early Childhood centres, setting and provisions that nurture a mentally health generation and ignite a child’s innate love of learning.
To allow them to be be investigators, scientists, to probe, explore and to ask questions. To use their imaginations, to be creators not consumers.
To play and learn in settings far removed from an institutionalised classroom and instead feel at home in powerful rich spaces and spaces, set up and in readiness for the child who enters through the doors.
Have you heard of The Curiosity Approach®? It’s a modern day pedagogy that is a wondrous mix of ingredients from the great pioneers of early childhood education. Maria Montessori, Waldorf Education, Reggio Emilia, Emmi Pikler and the curriculum of New Zealand Te Whariki.
We have stirred together elements that resonate together and using a modern twist, incorporating sustainability, mindfulness, eco literacy all adapted for these modern times. A play based approach that pushes back on formal academics and follows the natural unfolding development of the child, creating environments that are filled with loose parts and recycled materials, authentic resources and moving away from plastic manufactured toys. Want to learn more? We have an online certification, a year long CPD program educators can work through. We offer online training, for individuals and entire teams. We have a Curiosity Approach App helping Early Childhood educators and parent, carers to recognise the need for change and to gain valuable information to transform Early Childhood centres and the way children play and learn.
