The older I get I realize Delores Tucker was right about hip hop, it really is poison now. That goes for WAP or guys rapping about their general disdain for women or the students of every race I hear using the n word. Rap has become a caricature of how white people see black people or people of color. It use to be, before rap went mainstream that there was a lot of positivity and it was Afrocentric with aspects of black pride mixed in and your favorite song for a house party. Now it's a competition for who can be the most lewd, violent, or sexual, it truly is a race to the bottom.
@timothyalan344 жыл бұрын
This assessment can be true of any genre to gain popularity and tilt into the territory of mainstream. But there always seems to be scattered camps of artists that are in it for the art and not for the vulgarity or fame. I think it's unfair to clump every rapper into the same category when the versatility in hip hop is one of its defining features.
@markmittens4 жыл бұрын
@@timothyalan34 I don't think every genre is like that where the worst and most vile aspects are ALL that's pushed to the mainstream but I would love to hear examples. I think the problem is entertainment culture has devolved into antics. Who can do the wildest and craziest thing? No talents required, just push a boundary somewhere. People get their kicks and clicks by showing off, and that eventually cheapens everything into click bait.
@reagancapwell6854 жыл бұрын
Music shouldn't be about propaganda and pushing what's respectable you know. Like its not about telling your daughter to go to college abstain til marriage and don't do drugs. It's important to have diversity in art. That is that it's a safe space to be who you're and who you're not. So if you're an artist and live a life of purity it's Okay if music is your outlet where you can embrace your inner wildness. And if you are someone wild and sexual it's also okay if music is the place where you can affirm this part of yourself because art is freedom. To be both who you are and who you aren't. So no I don't want all my music to conscious. And I also don't need popular music to be censored. Because I will choose what I listen to. And another thing about art we choose what we find beautiful and so it'd be silly if there was an industry agenda to push "conscious hip-hop " as it would be if there is an industry agenda to push "sexual/lewd hip-hop". Let's take responsibility for what we listen to and stop saying shit about music needs to be this or that. If you don't like an artist or a song then it's hot for you. There's so much diversity in music so pick your poison. I don't like what the industry is "pushing", I like "what" I choose to listen to. And that includes "sexual hip-hop " coz that's a part of who I am.

There has ALWAYS been an uproar over every explicit song lil Kim, khia, Trina, snoop, and others that have made songs like this. Do your research. Social media amplifies everything so it is perceived as more. Black women on college campuses held protest back in the day to almost all those songs. Stop acting like the uproar is new and invalid. No grown person is OFFENDED by the song, they just instinctively know that it has a negative impact on young women because of the idolization of these women, and the ease of access to this material as it has been in the past.

Its a decades long campaign. you could call it demoralization in the parlance of the KGB as exposed by Yuri Bezmnov, or you could call it Sabbatean Frankism if you follow David Icke, but this is no accident that you and so many others have no idea what morality is or why its something important that we should follow. we are involved in the destruction of a country and a Nation of people. But the country grows weaker, and not stronger. the people, like yourself, have no morality and no reason to seek one. The pornography is free, and the freedom costs money.
