It's alot different for F1 cars. They take corners and MUCH higher speeds, so breaking points are going to be different (Especially with F1 breaks), and the line will be slightly different. As an F1 fan, I think this track is much more difficult for IndyCars as they far less downforce and I don't think they have power steering. The Indy guys and gals are good.

I love how much they have to fight the cars because of the lack of power steering. It LOOKS like a challenge, whereas modern F1 cars are so planted it's a lot more "point and squirt". Now, I'm sure modern F1 cars are a massive challenge, but the Indycar just looks harder. I think next year with the reduction in downforce and switch to ground effect cars, we could see some of that in F1, although they will still have power steering.

For those folks that think this is one of the least technical F1 circuits, Lewis Hamilton has said that this might be his favorite circuit. On average across different race series, COTA is certainly going to be more of a challenge. It might not look like much or feel challenging in a simulator, but reality is a different story. You need a fair bit of downforce for turns 16-18, but too much drag and your’e going to lose time on the pit and back straights. The esses and 12-15 really require a firm setup, but too much and the bumps are going to cost you. And it’s a dynamic track-you can’t expect to drive it today like you did a year ago because the surface of the track is always shifting.

Yes, Indycars have longer lap times. Indycar also has MUCH higher top speed than an f1 car because they have less downforce and less drag. So yes - they do enter corners at close to 200mph. Also, you forget the F1 cars get 160hp of the 1000hp from the hybrid system, and the hybrid boost DOES NOT WORK THE ENTIRE TIME THE DRIVER IS ON THE THROTTLE. Indycars make around 750hp in road course trim. F1 cars without hybrid boost make about 800hp. Indycars are LIGHTER than the F1 cars and have less drag... Yes the F1 car corners faster because of the increase in downforce over the Indycar - f1 cars also have MASSIVE tires and therefore more mechanical grip than the Indycar, which helps cornering speed also. Stop making dumb statements if you don't know what you're talking about. The fastest an f1 car has EVER been clocked is 371kph... I have news for you... That's the AVERAGE speed over 4 laps of this year's indy 500 pole sitter... The Indycar hits 240+mph on the straight without a slipstream... And over 245mph with a slipstream. Lap times, yes. F1 is quicker. But an Indycar is a faster car. Period. No f1 car has ever gone 400kph... MANY Indycars have though.

Believe it or not, you aren't the first person to make a joke about Americans turning left. 2. I wasn't talking about the whether the circuits were exciting or not, I was talking about difficulty. F1 circuits are much more generous with runoff area. Indycar circuits are much old-school in this regard. It's Nurburgring. Nuremberg is where the Nazi war criminals were put on trial. F1 is visiting the Nurburgring GP circuit, which is a fine track, but it's nothing special. Spa, Monza, Suzuka are great tracks, but none of them have seen tremendously exciting racing for the last few years. That being said, F1's best circuit is Interlagos and that may be on the way out because Tilke is designing a circuit in Rio as we speak. That's another big problem with F1. They only go where the money is. This season is a little different for obvious reasons, but any other year, F1 is more than happy to add god-awful circuits in some of the most brutal dictatorships in the world. It's nice that F1 is trying to be socially conscious with the end racism stuff, but all of that is undermined by the fact that they race in China, Russia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and the UAE. Not to mention the Aramco ads plastered all over the circuits. Or the covert tobacco advertising on the Ferraris and McLarens. Or the fact that Mercedes title sponsor, Petronas hates gay people. 3. The pipeline to get into F1 and its feeder series essentially requires young drivers to relocate to Europe earlier on to have a chance. North American prodigies like Colton Herta, and Pato O'Ward are never given much of a shot despite their talent. If we're talking Le Mans wins, we have to set our parameters first of all. Are you saying that only overall wins count? As in top finishing LMP1 car? Or are you, like literally everyone else, counting class wins? Because Americans get plenty of those despite there not being a lot in WEC. Most sports car drivers in the US end up in IMSA. 4. I mean the midfield is better but honestly who cares? Nobody 20 years from now will remember who finished 5th in the 2020 season.

@@DrSmoothSkin the fact that one guy designs all the new tracks with the paddock and not the racing in mind, is so frustrating and stupid. The whole we race as one and end racism is great. but everybody is gonna se how little they care. when they are gonna race in the places you said and are not going to shown it all weekend. F1 is a "international" series but we all know it's european based, and every team has there base here. So i don't expect a american driver to succeed in F1 the same way i don't expect a european diver to succeed at nascar or indycar. It's a bit sad but the way it is. And you are correct that no one is going to remember the midfield 20 years, they are only going to remember how dominant Lewies is. But isn't that also how people remember Senna and Schumacher's era?

Have you ever watched an Indycar race? It's much more exciting than F1... And Indycars can definitely go straight lol... Indianapolis is literally 4 straights connected with four 90 degree corners. @@federigodelazion6738 I understand what you're saying... Except for the "can't go in a straight line" part. You mean the cars can't go straight? Or the track can't go straight? And yes f1 and Indycar are very different, but also very similar. They are the 2 fastest open wheel, single seat racing series. F1 is becoming more like Indycar though - allowing teams to buy parts from other teams... Like racing point and the brakes they buy from Mercedes... And Toro rosso basically just using last years parts from red bull... Haas having dallara build their chassis... That's is going to make the F1 cars all become more and more like each other. I think the best part of f1 is that the teams are supposed to have their own designs... But I also realize how much expensive that is for smaller teams.

No, it's not. COTA certainly has its challenges but it's not as challenging or tough as Laguna Seca, Road America, Watkins Glen or VIR. It's just not. And COTA is a lot safer and more modern.

Sebring is the toughest according to the drivers who race on all the tracks in America but you're right, the people who made this video are click baiting
@hmdwgf4 жыл бұрын
It is click bait. But let me re-phrase what I said: Laguna Seca, Road America, Watkins Glen and VIR (and also Mosport if we want to talk about Canada) are the hardest and most challenging tracks to drive in America. The high-speed corners, the lack of runoff and the margin for error for mistakes on those tracks is little to non-existent. Sebring is a challenging track to drive and satisfying to get a good lap in there, but what really sets it apart is that it is undoubtedly the toughest track on the car and perhaps the most physically demanding on the driver in America. The severity of the bumps, the tropical humidity, the variation of the track and the abrasiveness of the track surface make a 12 hour race at Sebring actually harder to finish than a 24 hour race at Le Mans- Sebring is, above all a test of the car's reliability and a physical test of the driver. That's why the European sportscar teams like Sebring- because it's an ideal preparation run for Le Mans.
@csonkaperdido4 жыл бұрын
@@hmdwgf exactly! They also did a video about the Daytona 24 and called it the "most grueling race in America"... When all the drivers say Sebring - because Sebring beats the living shit out of the cars and drivers. Anyone who has seen a car go around Sunset Bend leaping a foot into the air and bucking like a pissed off horse can clearly see why it's the most difficult race. You're spot on.
@hmdwgf4 жыл бұрын
@@csonkaperdido I've seen it for real. To see those cars go through Sunset and pitch and buck the way they do is even more spectacular to see in person... another awesome corner at Sebring is Turn 1. It's so fast and the cars really do bounce violently on the exit there. The Daytona 24 certainly has its challenges but it's not as tough a race overall as the Sebring 12. Daytona is harder mentally on the team and it is a good test of how everyone in a team performs over a 24 hour period. Daytona is definitely hard on brakes, it's probably harder on the engine, fuel and driveshafts and the bankings generate 2 G's but Sebring is tougher in every other respect, and the Daytona track is like a pool table compared to the Sebring track.
