I would add that 10 Cloverfield Lane wasn't intended as a sequel. It was made as it's own thing, and then for better branding the studio added that. The fact that it isn't obvious is proof that occasionally this kind of thing works.

Ya same thing with the other “sequel” cloverfield paradox also why the ending is so tacked on for 10 cloverfield lane
