I think the main reason is in the roots of how music survive in both countries. Pakistani music scene was always about independent bands, pop music, underground music scene. Its always been like that. Indian music scene is different where majority of music comes from bollywood.

I literally commented this on Coke Studio India's youtube channel too. I wanted them to bring underrated artists, bands etc on this huge platform (for example The Local Train, The Western Ghats, Bombay Bandook). They could have gone for a different and fresh approach but instead they brought an already famous Kpop group and renowned Indian singer and Allu Arjun as a dancer. Coke Studio was known for its raw musical taste where every instrument played a unique role but nowadays, Instruments aren't even visible in the songs. This is more of a dance choreography than a live musical performance. Coke Studio India might appease to a younger generation of audience with these funky beats and kpop groups but they have lost the essence of what Coke Studio is all about. This is the reason Pakistan still holds the crown.

Theres one major point you missed here. Let me state it in detail. I was watching western channel documentory on Pakistani music some years ago, there Haroon Rashid (lead singer of Awaz band) mentioned about that unlike other countries(inc India), Pakistani music industry has always been sourced from raw talent, and not from training. This allows for more experimentation. Lack of local professional music training in Pakistan has actually been a strongest point. So we end up with people from garage type bands, people trained in music from western countries, people influenced by local folk music all together gives us the right blend of independant artists, and music. Just like a spicy mixed achar 😉. While india you have big commercialised industry by the name of bollywood, the commercial demand of which drives down creativity. This can also be observed with Atif Aslam, during the time he was in Bollywood he was churning out mainstream music, instead of experimenting with different stuff which he is really good at. Also look at Shaan and Sonu Nigam, the albums they released in late 90s were freaking amazing!!, buy they were absorbed back by bollywoof.

India's Bollywood music is better than Pakistan that for sure but in solo album of artist they can do creative things instead of sticking to a pattern or concept in Bollywood movie. I believe instead of bringing Bollywood music directors in Indian coke studio they should put trust on solo artist or bands who can produce music for example Sanam Band, Euphoria or even they could try Sneha khanvel.. As a Pakistani, Coke Studio Pakistan embraces local languages which is quite folk and soulful. This is something that was present in India music in the 90's which also became very popular in Pakistan. But after Honey Singh, all the Indian actors and singers became "Angraiz ke Aulaad". Their western obsession increased to such the extent that they now talk in English entirely behind the scenes or in their interviews. They add so many English words in their songs with third class lyrics which destroyed the purity of the regional music. EDM and regional music are different genres. They should not be mixed. India should embrace their local music as they have tons of cultures and languages. Also Nescafe Basement also did a very good job. But unfortunately, it didn't last more seasons as it was a copy of Coke Studio.
