And the best thing about Costco isn't the Hotdogs, or the food in general... It's the randomness of where the items are. It gets your brain active and keeps you mobile, while also intentionally drawing your attention to things you haven't heard, saw, or thought about and can get you to by it because of it's quality, and cost.

My late Brother started his career with Costco in the mid eighties. He had a number of Medical issues in the 90's and 2000's. The Costco company was so good to him (and my family) He would succumb to cancer in 2009 and worked up to the last few months after diagnosis. The Costco people showed so much care and concern which made our lives significantly easier to deal with the loss. I will always value this Company for the Love extended during that time.

Warehouse businesses like this always seem to work brilliantly. Bunnings is one of the most recognised and respected companies in Australia. Its a warehouse where you get your garden/house supplies (and often a sausage sizzle). If Bunnings was more corporate feeling, many people wouldn't want to give their business and it wouldn't be as iconic (Also they state in all their ads that if you find a product for cheaper they'll beat the price by 10%)

I always wondered what he would say about the Commissary. A military grocery store that always keeps its prices lower than the surrounding area. When I moved to an area with a Costco I got the membership to try it out. But it turns out that the commissary is still almost always cheaper than Costco. Now the only reason I keep the membership is to get the dirt cheap but really delicious food.

Their customer service is pretty great too.
