As I see a few others asking and excuse my ignorance, but would not the brake lights be failing if the brake light switch was faulty not the cruise control?

Thanks for the video. If I press my break pedal and break lights turn on is that an indication that break switch is ok and cruise control is not affected by and break switch is good? Now i can test if its the cruise control button the issue or possibly a fuse?

In this case, before you change the brake light switch, were the brake lights working when you were pressing the pedal? I mean, only the cruise control wasn't working or the brake lights also? I have a problem with my crusie control in the excact same car

@@TheSeashellable It can be both or singular - Having both fail means it likely IS the problem Having 1 fail but the other works still? it could still be this switch failing by only sending 1 of the 2 signals it is supposed to send

Quick question, If your cruise control doesn't turn on by the switch. Could you test if it was the break light switch is bad by simply hitting the breaks and if the break lights don't come on you know it's the brake light switch? I am asking because I don't have the tools you have.

Great video, I listened on the freeway. I had to work on my clutch last week and i hadn't been on the freeway since. I think you guys might have left out stick shift owners. My 2006 Mustang GT had a clutch actuation strut failure (very common). When I was underneath the dash I must've bent the flimsy piece of metal for the switch that deactivates cruise control when you push the clutch in. I'll assume it's a normally closed type switch. Cruise control constantly deactivated without that metal pushing in the switch.

HI, I need some help. i have 2011 MK4 ford Mondeo , its cruise control stopped working where as Speed limiter still works fine.I did initial cleaning of the switch but it did not help, I took it to a local auto electric garage and he charged me near 200 GBP to diagnose the fault that both 'Cruise control switch' and 'contact angle sensor' needs to be changed and it will thereafter needs Programming of the control and this will cost me almost 600GBP, which I think is a lot of money. Can you help me with some advise regarding a more affordable solution please. Thank you.

Another reason why I left the UK.. just stupid prices for every little thing... I paid 10GBP equivalent here in Romania and I changed myself that switch, to my Mondeo 2008. Cheers..

Check the Clock Spring behind the steering wheel like he said. What it really is, just a flexible ribbon cable that allows you to steer without tearing the buttons away from the control module. I'd prefer to have the buttons else where in the dash personally. All that said, it's not that big of a job.
