Dale was clearly important. He gave the group an RV!

Was it really the same RV from season 1 throughout the whole show? I don't know why I don't recall

That’s mostly because that RV Belong to Dale

He was wrong about the kid. The "kid" was ready and willing to murder Rick and his people. He didn't seem bothered by what was done to that farmer and his young daughters. Otherwise, Dale was pretty important for reminding us what people could become and what we needed to strive to be

I agree, Hershel basically became a better version of Dale. I think Dale, had he not been written off the show due to drama, I think he would have been what Hershel became.

The group needed to adapt, if they didn't they would have ended up like the terminus survivors I agree that dale would have kept them more morally sound but at what cost? The kid knew maggie and probably where they lived they would have been vulnerable to attack and we know what the kid's group have done. If it was you would you take the chance and endanger your people?
@Ares999993 сағат бұрын
But if all you do is ignore the moral members of your group for the sake of survival, then yeah, you might have a greater chance to survive. But if all it does is turn you into Terminus or the Whisperers, I’m not sure of the point of said survival.

I saw this show for the first time a year ago, and Dale was one of my favorite characters. He was the only one in the group to not lose himself, or give into taking the easy way out.
@granitejeepc365114 сағат бұрын
Dale was the best character---he played similar in the move the Mist---also done by Frank Darrabont---and he brought a few actors from the Mist to the WD ie Andrea-----Dale is the average guy dealing with an unaverage situation---only person with some intelligence----practical hat, rifle with scope--pop them at long range on top of an RV with lounge chair and umbrella---zs cant get to him as they cant climb a ladder, hawaiian shirt that keeps sun off and cool---just shows how good he was

Having just finished watching Lord of the Rings, I remember one line from Gandalf on Gollum. ''Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then, do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.” Killing just everyone, and we know many fans wanted Negan to die cause he killed Glenn, but we have to think what would have happened had Rick let Negan die. So Dale was right and as you said why he is so important.

what a sick joke that he left because of Frank. I love how that shows loyalty but getting rid of Frank was the biggest issue behind the scenes

Amazing character, loved Dale being the moral compass of the group and I loved Hershel fulfilling Dale’s role. Would have enjoyed seeing his character survive longer but he held onto the principles of respect and maintaining their humanity, also his inability to harm or kill other survivors would be his downfall. You still gonna do the Shane vs Merle video brother?! 🤘🏻💪🏻

I found Dale to be annoying, yet other characters managed to be better variants of Dale. I think what made me dislike him was how he emotional manipulated Andrea. That and how he was sorta mostly wrong about Randall. But i def enjoyed him more when i rewatched the show.

speaking of Dale... just got done with the episode where Andrea is having an argument or whatnot with him about her gun that he is keeping from her... he's apparently afraid that she will use it on herself and commit suicide with it... honestly... i don't care who was right or wrong.. cause it all depends on the person and what their opinions are... im just curious... do you think Dale is right to hold her gun and not give it back to her?

This is a debate between being a moral compass and competence. He relied on other people to protect him, and he supplied an RV and instructions on how to fix it. In the end, he was destined to die because he wasn't strong enough to survive. This is the universe of The Walking Dead. Humanity is a luxury in that environment.
