I love dan.. but I also subconciously missed things you just pointed out, but i did't know then. Agree with you mate

Thanks, mate! And yes, Dan obviously is a great filmmaker. I never wanted to question that.

At first I was thinking "An other small fish bashing a big one for clout". I was sure that it would be a waste of time, but surprisingly you did a pretty good job. Your arguments are coherent, logical and polite! For Dan defense I would say that your method is good for professional videography and might not be valid for KZbin demography... But my argument doesn't hold water: Story telling is story telling whatever the media and medium, whatever the attention span.

If anyones out of his depth its you. This video is riddled with film jargon you clearly don't understand. Maybe its just a language barrier thing , but misinterpretation like this is dangerous if trying to teach others about filmmaking when you have absolutely 0 experience. My advice to you would be go out and try and make a real film with a real story instead of being an armchair critique.
@faeis_hh3 ай бұрын
What kind of film jargon is it riddled with? And where specifically am I off with my critique? Would love to hear it!
@NiisExperience2 ай бұрын
I love Dan and I love your criticism as well but the problem I have with your criticism is that KZbin is not a traditional platform where you have to stick to rules you mentioned, like Dan said earlier, it’s about how much of your creativity you are willing to sacrifice for more views and in the youtube language more views = success. I learnt a lot from this video but bro What works is what works.
@faeis_hh2 ай бұрын
No doubt about that what Dan is doing works! But I think most of the points I make would also work well for videos on KZbin and might just make his videos even better. But one of the reasons I made this video was the name of Dan's video "How to Master the Art of Filmmaking" - if it was named "How to Master the Art of YouTubing" it might not have triggered me. Thank you for your comment, Niis!

@@faeis_hhI doubt what you suggested here will work on youtube, you want Dan to give 10mins of screentime to introduce characters before getting into the story and all, try that and see for yourself if that will work on youtube
@faeis_hhАй бұрын
I think in this specific video he should have given some of his characters less screen time (or leave them out alltogether), so that others would have had more (Neera).

cringe. Dan's 3hr video was a masterclass that no other creative , filmmaker or artist has been willing to give for FREE to the public. The fact you question, in the title, Dan's filmmaking ability considering he is a multi award winning filmmaker is crazy. The intention of Dan's video was to give everyone access to film education without the burden of having to pay. Film school is not what makes you a better filmmaker, experience does... I suggest earning some stripes and then coming back to reanalyse this video.
@faeis_hh3 ай бұрын
Look mate, are we teasing with the Thumbnail a little bit? Yes, for sure. Is Dan out of his depth? No. But if we stop critizing people because they've won an award we also stop caring about stories and the craft itself.

hmm. good point. The counter was as good as the original video. You should make a whole another video creating a better filmmaking tutorial just like Dan's I think I could learn from both you and dan and finally start at KZbin channel
