"Polyester rope has high resistance to UV rays, making it suitable for outdoor use in sunny conditions. It is also abrasion resistant. Compared to nylon, polyester has a higher flammability temperature and better UV resistance."

Old ropes. We all read about it in Climbing magazine decades ago.

Yeah, it's one of those lessons everyone in the climbing community has heard about. 🧗‍♂️📖 Old ropes and UV damage-it’s basic safety. But still, some tragic stories remind us why those lessons matter.

@@go90north It was weird. Rope jumping wasn't ever really a thing and fortunately never took off. He might have been better off with base jumping, although lots of deaths there too.

When you see how easily you can saw through a rope with another piece of rope it will give you pause.

Taking risk is always increasing chances to fail.

True, taking risks always comes with the possibility of failure. 🎲 But sometimes, it's those very risks that lead to the greatest rewards-or lessons learned. 🌟 It’s all about finding that balance between adventure and caution.

So much talking and so few answers. Did the rope break or did he hit something?

the rope brake. but he did the jump a few times . he came back 30 days after the first jump and did another one and thats when he died( the rope was exposed for 30 or more days to rain and sun. climbing ropes arent much resistant to uv radiation. Now a days people use two ropes.

Wow, that’s tragic... 😔 It sounds like a combination of bad luck and poor planning. The exposure to the elements really weakened the rope over time. 🌧️🌞
