#1. They all think that I should be rich. If I'm not making $1000 off of every trade, I must be some kind of loser. 2. I must be crazy for even doing this in the first place. 3. They don't understand I am actually working. They see me sitting in my chair all day and assume Im not doing anything. So they don't think they need to respect my time.

Greetings, I am more of a swinger than a daybot. One summer (2002) I would move money back and forth between my 401k bond fund and my 401k stock fund. When the stocks declined I move money into them. When the stocks surged up I would move money out. That summer I moved money every 3-6 weeks. ... I doubled my 401k balance and the fund company started charging to rebalance! :). You make money when you move money

Thanks Shay, today I had 3 winners and a small loser. But unfortunately I have to return to work to fund my account further. Trading a 2k account brings on a lot emotional issues. I am working my way thru them with self recognition and discipline. Fear is still there to a lesser degree and what it is causing me to do is have a problem with my exits. leaving money on the table and giving back to much of my profit. These are all the mental things a day trader goes thru. There are 2 worlds a day trader lives in the " physical and emotional ". Since trading is 90% emotional you can see what needs the most work. I will day trade until I take my last breath. This is a lot of work but I really enjoy it and am making progress. Good book to read "The disciplined trader " by Mark Douglas he lays it out in a way it is easy to understand. Wayne from Boise, Idaho. Potatoes anyone?

Why don’t you open IBKR margin account? With 2K you can trade with more than 6K. But the catch is you have to be good so you don’t fall less than your 2K. I would say to be safe 3K is better

Shay, many would like to day trade and are ready to but keep in mind in the USA you have to have a 25K balance to not be labeled a PDT on any platform and after 3 warnings you are canceled! We CANNOT use 5K and day trade! Not even 10K! We can only swing trade or Level 2 options. So please keep in mind and maybe do a series about this.

I use my 3 day trades every 5 trading days a trade opens back up so space them out Monday Wednesday Friday. I’m a stock market investor not trader. But I worry about taxes because I trim positions to take profits or reorganize my portfolio. I make new buys but I sometimes sell or reduce when they are unprofitable so I can invest in a better stock. Is it ok to take profits (from a tax standpoint)? Because it sounds like the IRS wants taxes on everything sold. And if I use the cash to invest in another position that makes profits… well they’re just taxing me multiple times on the same money when I sell. It’s just a big game. I love investing, but I hate the IRS.

Tips: make sure to understand what is trend of the market, study about the chart pattern, and learn how to understand indicators (macd, rsi, momentum and so on). Disagree on it taking 6m - 1yr to become proficient on day trading. It's one of the hardest professions one can attempt to do well in and the stated measures failure rates of those who try are always well over 90%. It could very well take many years to achieve proficiency, if ever, so folks need to be sober minded about this weighing the costs and risks. I know you referenced "minimum time", but that is like saying one can learn to be a brain surgeon in a "minimum" 2 years time- while that may be possible for a prodigy/genius, for the other 98% of the population, it's just not the case. I think too many people are led astray thinking they have a shot at doing well in day trading in just a few months to a couple of years when the time is likely at least an order of magnitude higher.
@Jeremy-sr4gv Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. It comes down to time spent. In the beginning the biggest thing holding me back was my full time job. Going back to contracts with work etc. if you devote everything to the craft 6 months to a year is doable

The two don't have to be mutually exclusive.
