Derek Carr is entering his ninth season with the now-Las Vegas Raiders, looking to go on a big playoff run after a Wild Card elimination last season against the Cincinnati Bengals. Carr is in a division with arguably the most competitive QBs in the NFL but is the most underrated? Colin Cowherd defends Carr. Meanwhile, the New England Patriots' preseason kicks off this week against the New York Giants but Bill Belichick is reportedly not playing any starters, including Mac Jones. Hear what Colin has to say about the Patriots' new offensive mindset.

You could also say the reason Carr has a new head coach almost every season is because he couldn't play well enough to keep his head coaches. My favorite team and favorite QB of the franchise since I've been a fan(since 2000). DC has been slept on for awhile, 2016 was his best year and the team was on the way to the AFC Championship at the least, until he broke his leg. The guy has never had a true #1 wideout besides a young Amari Cooper who really didnt want to be there. Multiple coaching changes and system changes, and has still put numbers up. Now he has Davante, Hunter, Waller, and my sleeper Foster Moreau and a legit and consistent staff and system.

As a KC fan I have much respect for Carr playing great and not letting the termoil make him bad. I think he at a point where the next couple seasons will define his narrative between bad, good, or great. Right now I still think he ok to good range. I am interested if the McDaniels connection doesn't help take him to another level. His QB play with Del Rio too aggressive, Gruden too conservative, last year after Gruden I think he just let loose and didn't do bad.

Football is a team game at the end of the day. yes QB play is a critical part of being able to win or lose but the Raider's issue are elsewhere. Carr is doing most than his fair share to keep the Raiders competitive... But Qb's play is not the only factor for a team to win or lose...There has been plenty of very average Qb's in NFL story going far in the playoffs for a variety of reason, although mostly a combo of strong running game and great D. So Carr can put up all the numbers he want, but will need the other units to do their part for the Raiders to come up with a better record....

Collin says that the patriots dont draft the offense that well and I'll admit they have been bad a at drafting WR and TE lately, but they draft the o-line amazing and are good at find mid draft Rbs. Damian Harris and Rhmondre Stevenson were both 3rd round picks. On top if that look at the O-line out side of Wynn and strange who are first rounders all of the startes on the o-line over the last 5 years have been late round gems. Mason and Thuney who are both unfortunately not on the team any more were both 5th rounders and some of the best guards in the league. Owenu who I think is one of the best and most underrated young guards in the league at the moment was 6th rounder. Even though we didn't draft him trent brown was a 7th. And David Andrews a good veteran center was undrafted. I don't understand how thag doesn't constitue as good drafting just because they weren't high round picks? Plus while it may be considered a no Brainer, taking Mac Jones was a good pick

Not throwing an interception in camp at all is a bad thing? I know it sounds counterproductive but this is why……. Great QB are taking camp and pushing the envelope evolving and getting better. You can’t grow if you don’t push the limits (especially in camp and practice) and so you don’t grow…. This sounds like a team playing it safe, not evolving, not taking the next steps. The reason the chiefs have owned the AFC west for almost a decade is because Reid helps his QB’s try new things make mistakes then learn from those mistakes. Carr isn’t making mistakes becuase he is playing safe and hence not growing.

The 4th quarter comeback one is dubious. Because of all that dysfuncton youre going to have a lot more opportunities to have 4th quarter comebacks, compared to Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes who already won by 10

How does he make such a Big deal about not throwing an interception and in the same exact breath, say their defense sucks. Is it carr or defense being bad? Probably a nice if both. Also. He’s the best QB playing from behind? In what metrics? Is it 4th quarter comeback? He’s 57-70. He plays from behind a lot. His stats SHOULD look better then
@wilkic2
@wilkic2 Жыл бұрын
They literally have the worst scoring defense in the entire league on average over his career and he’s not especially interception prone… if you think it’s “both” then you just don’t care about the data

@@ford1chevy2dodge3 the no picks in camp isn’t relevant. That’s a non story that Colin is blowing smoke about. It’s the 57-70 comment I’m talking about. The fact that he’s 57-70 with the NFL’s worst defense over his career timespan is impressive. And it’s hard to come back when your defense keeps giving up points. If playing from behind was enough for 4th quarter comebacks, then Daniel Jones would have loads of them. That’s the point you’re missing
