Spending for the sake of Allah is also the zikr of Allah

It is a shame that we can’t have a two way conversation as there are some really interesting points that Shaikh Hamza makes. I respect and recognise his experience and knowledge. My questions are as follows: 1. Islam is a practical religion as much as anything else, as such isn’t there a balance between deem and dunya? There isn’t the concept of nuns, monks etc while it is true that solitude and time in prayer and dhikr is good and important. I am not challenging I am interested in reconciling my views and perspective. 2. Isnt the concept of continual improvement of self and development of the spiritual path more important than trying for perfection and more attainable as a result? 3. Allah knowing the fallibility of humans, would he expect perfection. Mercy is mentioned more times in the Quran and this is a purely personal perspective, I feel as though if there is more emphasis on improvement than perfection and an understanding of Allah’s mercy and grace as well as the fact that he is the only judge and none of earth can truly judge another as none of us are perfect and cannot see the intentions of humans in their hearts and soul, then this would attract and keep more Muslims in the seen. This is just a personal perspective. Really keen to get a perspective from the Shaikh and others. 4. I believe and this is only from my limited perspective not from a deep knowledge of Quran and Hadith but rather from my understanding of the principles of the religion hence limited perspective. I believe that Allah has put many things on earth for our enjoyment, he has forbidden few things which we are aware of. If we make the halal into haram don’t we risk making life more complicated and difficult resulting in people turning away from deen instead of attracting them to it? Related, I was taught that Islam along with meaning peace also meant ‘the middle way’ which means not taking anything to extreme, even prayer at the expense of health would not be understood to be good? Where do we get that perspective from? Am I incorrect in my understanding of the principles? I accept I am far from perfect and still struggle with basics but I am interested in this.

What halal is being made haram?

@ perhaps not halal and haraam but the inference that talking about culture and food etc is bad and a waste of time is in my view creating more rules creating rigidity and thus could have the unintended consequences of turning people away from the spiritual path and the religion as they feel as though it takes away everything. To me there is wonder and awe in different cultures and food and music which makes me even more in awe of Allah’s majesty. I am an imperfect person and trying to be better but I feel like messaging for the youth and people like me is important, if i feel like everything in the dunya has to be eliminated even if it isn’t haraam, that will have the opposite effect than to draw me to the path.

sheikh Hamza - this statement is a rare moment of incoherence from yourself - said with the greatest respect for you who has always been an impact on me. I love you dearly - Our idea of Dhikr is that it must manifest in an active process but starts in the domain of contemplation and this something you had previously mentioned. Our work is this world manifests the idea of remembrance in all of the mundane - and hence ibadah. I trust you will find this criticism perfectly in order with your own thoughts of which so much has helped so many people out of confusion and towards greater understanding, coherent.

He mentions, albeit in passing, that ‘doing them, simply to do them’ is not why you’re here. I believe he means, the act in and of itself, without a niyat of ibadat, is not why you’re here. 1:07

yes apologies - the further you listen it clarifies the initial statement - so yes thank you for pointing this out.

Then you either haven't seen the whole lecture or you are taking a bit of his words in face value. You must have work done in this world, ibadah. However that does not what he is talking about. It's much deeper than that.

@@muhammadally3411 i think he is still wrong.. if you just do dhikr and not do anything else like caring for people in need then guess what , you will be questioned on the day of judgment. Can you imagine a piece of trash that does not care about the children in gaza and is unjust getting away from hell fire only because he did dhikr? Do you know think that God is JUST and MERICFUL and He loves those who are just and caring ?
