I wouldn't buy a jack-less laptop. I love hearing high quality music and laptops give me the chance to play it as I do some other stuff like college projects, work or simply playing a game. Removing the jack wouldn't be such a big deal in this case, you'd probably say. You would be right if I weren't an audiophile (a high quality audio lover). Furthermore, there is no real excuse to remove such universal standard, which allows people to listen music through wires with a better quality.

The monetization thing isn't new, its just in the UI to see if videos are monetized or demonetized it wasn't a thing in the old UI, it was still going on, just couldn't actually see if it was pulled, just as well there IS an appeal process to get monetization back on, and with KZbin heroes that should be a super short social experiment, maybe not more than 4 months maybe one year at most. also not to be the Grammar Nationalsozialist (nazi is short for that btw, Nazi means national socialist effectively since the first part of national sounds like the phrase nazi) but it is "Microsoft are starting to become controlling too, and deceptive." btw the next sentence "At least.." is some grammar issue do not know off hand but it feels odd, like a clause issue or something, anyways.. *Microsoft IS starting to become controlling too. Grammar Nationalsozialist out of the way, the other thing is microsoft isn't really deceptive .. I mean feel happy to give me an idea of what you mean, but microsoft does have an EULA and Agreement as well as TOS and privacy policy so.. yknow.. the other thing is if you mean cortana and those settings, that is something you can change when installing win10 and go to "advanced settings" .. not deceptive at all on that part really.

G430 is a good headset, it has 7.1 surround sound with a mic that hides out of sight out of mind easily and is able to be turned off as well, found a place that is selling them for 39.99 even. 39.99 Headset link: www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-g430-over-the-ear-gaming-headset-black/8785729.p?skuId=8785729&ref=199&loc=8BacdVP0GFs&acampID=1&siteID=8BacdVP0GFs-L9m3izY25oLeG3TXe1qxIw Just as well I reccomend using PCPartPicker.com for finding the cheapest price option for the same item, like say a G600 (multi-tool mouse, it is known for MMO gaming, however i use it as an office mouse since i navigate faster that way.) on logitechs website is 80$ if i remember correctly and... on newegg it is 39.99 with free shipping too even. pcpartpicker.com/product/ytZQzy/logitech-mouse-910002864 oh, and how about good low end budget keyboard? I found logitech as being one of the cheaper options for keyboards that is more than a dell keyboard you'd get with HP., the main thing the logitech g150 does, is it has 6 additional keys you can use to set any macro, I actually used to have the G150, it conked after 4months, at first the wire was funky and the keyboard wouldn't come on unless the wire was at an angle, then it decided to work at another angle, and then another angle worked, and then nothing worked to get it on, just as well it was a pretty decent board for while it did work, however i recommend the bestbuy warranty a LOT for the logitech keyboard.. speaking of which, bestbuy is cheapest once again. Logitech keyboard: pcpartpicker.com/product/jsw323/logitech-keyboard-920003371 however for 12dollars more (which is probably the gas money and also the warranty combined cost of going to bestbuy and getting the warranty on the keyboard when you first buy it.) you could get the K30 a Corsair keyboard, it has the 6 macros keys like the G105, however corsair keyboards have nice keycaps and also are pretty durable, currently i use a K70 and it has survived 2 years just about now. Corsair K30 keyboard: pcpartpicker.com/product/FTJkcf/corsair-keyboard-ch9000224na all in all, i hope this helped, but in all seriousness, go use pcpartpicker for finding peripherals or just anything computers in general, just as well, in all seriousness though, good luck on the hunt for inexpensive headphones, however again, the G430 is only 39.99 at bestbuy with no shipping charges.

Quacker Crackers Your welcome, Just as well i was doing keyboard as a hey, thats a possibility, also I'd be interested in seeing if you get them down the line, I sold a G600 to someone as a workplace/gaming/super functional mouse, and id be interested in knowing if i sold you on the headset, anyways for laptop gaming, i'd just reccomend hey, don't fall asleep in the headset super comfy and lets you listen to music HOWEVER, the swivles break easily, out of all the headset i have from logitech the earcuff swivle is the thing that breaks the most, however the bestbuy warranty covers it, and in all seriousness, i use stuff until the breaking point effectively, headphones?, wear them almost all the time and use one cuff to keep them on the desk ledge, G600 mouse, trip over wire as running to work, come back from work and boom the mouse itself is fine however the USB end of the wire wasn't >.< no but in all seriousness, just like yknow.. warranty for the win.

"But that's not the case with any proprietary standard, in this this case the Lightning connector, or anything that Apple uses" I think the big picture is to get rid of the cables in the long run, and as it stands, Bluetooth is not an Apple proprietary standard. That's not completely true. As long as Avid programs work so shitty on Windows, Apple will always have an edge there. I use Cubase for audio and Pinnacle Ultimate for video on my Windows machine, and have no complaints. The only thing that slows me down is my SATA hard drive. I can't afford a 2tb SSD.
@ChrisPhillipsMusic5108 жыл бұрын
Is the licensing setup that you brought up as the idea for Apple removing the 3.5mm jack the same reason that Microsoft only puts a 2.5mm jack with the "wings" in their consoles for headphones to where you either need an adapter or a headset that uses that specific setup, or is the jack they use for consoles a standard like the 3.5? That's something I've always been kind of curious about ever since I got my 360 and I have never really had a good answer until this licensing situation got put in my mind.
@Aqueous928 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the jack in 360's controller for a mic, then it's a standard 3.5 mm jack. Those "wings" are clips that make sure the headphones don't disconnect. I had generic telephone mic headset with 3.5 mm jack and I used them for Xbox Live with no problem.
@ChrisPhillipsMusic5108 жыл бұрын
Were it a standard 3.5 then any set of headphones I've ever owned would fit, all the 3.5mm is too thick to fit inside the controller port.

I use external monitors, I use an external mouse & keyboard, and I use external speakers. I would not be happy about it if apple were to remove all of their ports on the pro lineup. Looks like every company is trying to replace the headphone jack with a new type of connector. That may look cool. But what I liked about the 3.5mm jack was that it was a universal way of connection used by all headphones and speakers. But now , Apple devices will have a lightning connector , phones like the Le Eco Le 2 will have micro USB connectors and it goes like that . If this continues,we'll have to buy a new pair of headphones every time we get a new phone or computer. Eg : I got a Beats Solo 2 from Apple last month. And I'll not be able to use it on an iPhone 7 (If I ever buy one) which is from Apple itself. Each device having a different way of connecting a headphone is really weird. I think the best choice is to buy a headphone with a 3.5mm jack and take a bag full of adapters. RIP HEADPHONE JACK

I think they just want to be the ones to take the big step into the future because nobody else is making a move. They'll be hated for doing this but, how long did we expect to keep the analog 3.5mm jack? We can't restrict ourselves to only that, we have to innovate and try new things, if it doesn't work out I guess we could always go back.

Too expensive for a wireless earphone. 70-100+ for a wireless earphone/headphone is too expensive unlike regular earphones which are 10-50

How about they create a new port on the laptops for headphones and keep the 3.5mm. It would take a while but at least they wouldn't be destroying sales in the process.
@Daragnosticsify8 жыл бұрын
Yes We know 3.5mm jack wasen't gonna stay forever and we are gonna switch to a new alternative thats better, but Apple didn't give us any new alternative at all besides Wireless headphones they simply took it away with out caring if the what happens. This move is far from taking a big step forward and in no way Innvative, some people like me prefer a direct connection instead of wireless conections. Apple is a big company with alot a money they could have develop better connection than the 3.5mm but no they didn't care.

I'm sure we'll see within the next few models of phones (both apple and android) that they'll be trying different things in terms of audio output, right now its like a test to see how it works, let them try these news things, it's always going to be trial and error until the idea is perfected.

It was probably a good idea to switch to a BETTER jack that is still actually meant for audio ie analog with lower impedence and better quality

Seems that the 27" iMac and the iPad Air 2 are the only Apple products I'm doing anything with for the foreseeable future. Might grab the macOS Sierra upgrade, and the iOS 10 upgrade, but that's about it for those those things. Certainly not doing anything new hardware-wise from them.
@sarukun12288 жыл бұрын
eh... On my desktop, it wouldn't matter. I use USB, but when I use a laptop, it's always 3.5mm headphones. They're tiny, you can forget about them until you need them, and they work in both my MP3 player and laptop, so I can just switch back and forth conveniently.

I don't think Apple will control on what devices you can play what songs. The thing is that if the sound is really digitally going through a Thunderbolt port the dongle wouldn't work. Because headphones rely on analogue signals, you cannot play digital directly into a speaker. This means the dongle must have an digital to analogue converter which does not fit into the size of the dongle and *requires power* to work.
@janekmuric8 жыл бұрын
***** I don't think you get the difference between analog and digital. Analog means that a signal is varying based on what it's carrying. For example when a song is played thought an analog signal the signal varies based on the pressure the speaker is supposed to produce in that song. Microphones, speakers, any sensor for something, _analog_ sticks are all analog at their core. This is nice because they can output (in theory) an infinitely precise signal, but because nothing in our universe is infinite or perfect, that kind of _infinite_ precision is very sensitive and gets lost and from interference quickly. Benefits of analog are that it's simple to carry between devices and very simple to generate using any sensor. Computers, on the other hand, are completely digital. This means that *everything* they input or output is a sequence of ones and zeroes. Because they are digital they cannot interpret analog at all. They have to use a converter that can convert analog to digital and that's where you lose precision and quality. Benefits of digital is that it is completely precise. There is absolutely no quality loss at all. Why? It's simple. It's because it's easier for a computer to tell the difference between 0 and 1, then it is to tell the difference between 0.9876343 and 0.9876353.

I'm not entirely sure if the device control thing is 100% true. I mean it still could be possible, but I'm not really sure why they would remove it for that reason since devices are able to detect whether you shoved headphones, headsets or line out into it... The marketing idea sounds more believable though

I've used Headphone Jack last time a few years (over 5) ago. So I do not see any problem with this. I do understand that there's a lot of people who use HJ, but I think it's really time to go past the analog. If you buy (expensive) high quality headphones, why not have DAC in the headphones (instead of device, iPhone etc.)... to get the absolutely best quality out of those headphones? This of course means that should use digital output from device. In this case lightning connector. Why would anybody buy as expensive device as iPhone and then complain about a few dollar extra cost? If you would use cheapest headphones available, you can use adapter Apple offers. If you have cable, extra 2 inch will not kill you. If you need to charge at the same time you need to buy another adapter. Removing Headphone Jack should be done after there's a lot of other options available, but who would build anything else as long as the old analog port is still there. Remember the old "smart" phones? You had to use stylus... you could not use only finger. Then somebody did create touch screen and did not apply stylus. What a wave of complaints! How can you do this? Now (almost) nobody misses... or even remembers stylus. Removing HJ from laptop might be a bigger problem. But the biggest problem is that Apple is removing I/O ports from laptops. That is CRAZY. If there's no more HJ, no more SD-reader, no more charge port, then there should at least be multiple USB's. Right???

@Fakeman8 жыл бұрын
Removing the headphone jack on the macbook i could genuinely see apple doing that for space. I doubt apple would put a lightning port on a mac, but then again it is apple. It will probably be a USB-C connector replacing it, so i couldn't really see how they could make money from a universal standard. I think this digital move is a step in the right direction though. My 3.5mm jack on previous computers were god damn awful. I could literally hear different pitch whines over the headphones when the processor was under varying loads because of bad shielding. This would also be a cost saving measure for sure
@mrlevinielsen7 жыл бұрын
So they might remove it because they can't slap their name on it and call it theirs? That's ridiculous from both a marketing standpoint and a consumer standpoint. People don't want to use one port for everything, Apple.

I've started using bluetooth so much that it isn't really that big of a deal to me. I think that if a laptop was missing bluetooth AND a headphone jack, I wouldn't buy it.
@brantgeier31308 жыл бұрын
Well, considering said headphone jack can also be used to plug in speakers, anything without a headphone jack is nearly useless when you want to listen to music. Yeah there is always the use Bluetooth, but that just drains your battery, also whatever you connect to has to have Bluetooth. So I 100% would not buy a phone or any sort of laptop without a headphone jack as on my own laptop I use it at least 90% of the time I am on the device.
