But it was not Parvati who pleaded. It was Krishna who stopped since Shiva and his family were duty bound to protect Banasura who was a pain for the world. Lord Krishna also tells Banasura after leaving him with 2 hands (removing the remaining 998) that he would never forgive Banasura for duping Lord Shiva - Banasura's own aaradhya devta. Om Namah Shivay. Jai Shri Krishna.

shiva is mentioned couple of times in mahabharata, and they did fought it's a story with a boar and the archer, the story is in original mahabharat please check you sources or watch video full video.
