Why did Breitling do this to the Superocean?

I like the new one, but I like the Arabic numerals of the past more. I guess the Heritage line was popular so they fused them together.

The design of the new version is based on the Superocean "Slow Motion" from the 1960's. The new one is so much more premium feeling and looking in person. Bezel action is fantastic and the bracelet is updated with a great micro adjustment system. Looks are subjective, but I think it is much nicer. The previous generation always looked silly to me. Large numerals at 6,9 and 12 and then a teeny tiny date window at 3. Much needed update imo

I think the new design aesthetics are taken from a historic design, an old diver's chronograph. But even so, yeah, that second hand block is too big. For me the previous model you showed looks like a Bell and Ross and possibly this design is too generic anyway. I think maybe that could be the point, that the new Breitling strategy is to have unmistakable Breitling signature designs.

This watch is in a category of its own. Expensive, hideous, fleeting design language, constant re-marketing, lack of timelessness, Sellita movement, small dial, outrageous handset, abnormal and odd bezel/chapter ring mixture, nightmare lugs, and oversized. The previous model was nice looking, minus the crooked bracelet which is a cry for originality. A case of a perfectly designed and timeless modern watch, with design staying power is the Tudor Pelagos.

Car manufacturers compete about whoever makes the ugliest car that will still sell because it has a BMW badge on the hood. Watch manufacturers do the same thing. Remember: Its up to YOU, final customer to decide wheter that ugly garbage will remain on the market or not

New one is much better imo, love the rainbow one in particular. I'd be all 8 save for the movement, hoping they do the same with this one as they did with the heritage, ie use a Tudor movement going forward. Same this for the chronomat gmt, put a tudor movement in it and I'm a buyer.

Extremely uncomfortable watch..hurts to wear
